I'm the only one thinking this is just ****????!?!?!?!? I sold my MBP 2010 last month just to get the spanking new and WORST one????

Just repeat the process and sell/upgrade every 6 months...

IMO, the latest and greatest at every release is less rewarding than buying a new computer every 4-5 years, when you really feel the difference.

Hi, one of the F5-per-minute guys here.

I'm the only one thinking this is just ****????!?!?!?!? I sold my MBP 2010 last month just to get the spanking new and WORST one????

I'm going to commit Appleicides.

Luckily you'll be able to buy an older one for cheap. :D

Here's to hoping the 15" has a decent graphics solution. I'm sure it will, but I'd much rather have a smaller machine. *sigh*

Oh, I am used to them. But consider that Apple are also rumored to axe the white MB, so... what's going to replace it, if not something like this leaked device? It's the only thing that makes sense to me - why would they release an MBP with such a crappy resolution? Everyone in their right mind would just get an MBA with 1440x900.

exactly... this model does not justify the price... the i5 and lightpeak are the only things they managed to improve...

Some might. My pick (hope, please, please...) is the MBA display will be BTO on the MBP.

If this information is true, I think I'm going to hold off until the next refresh.

-1280x800 standard
-Intel 3000 HD graphics
-Same design
-SuperDrive

GTFO, I didn't wait a year for a minor processor update and some obscure technology no one is using right now (Thunderbolt).

Surely it will be standard. Why would they want to have two different parts for the same screen size?

Unless they intend to keep the plastic MacBook at low res, then there's a possibility that they use the same screen on the 13" MBP.

It will most likely be BTO, if not standard. What kind of pro wants a worse screen than someone who bought a couch-book? (I love mine btw :p)

Yep. Nothing much there convincing me t part with $$

im thinking that picture before was just a photoshop, i could be very wrong, but i thoguht the light peak port was just like a usb port... much like the e sata port... you could also use it as a usb... ? am i the only one that thought this ?

Seriously, it seems like all Apple cares about now is their iToys. I remember when the MacBook Pro had cutting edge technology, not playing catch up with others. Why the hell would the screen resolution be lower than that of a 13" MBA? And a worse GPU? This literally makes no sense.

That was one possibility.

I'm thinking the picture is fake because the thunderbolt name and logo just seems too lame to be possible. It's akin to PC users leaving their Intel stickers on so their computers go faster.

Apparently the actual physical look of the port hasn't been finalized as the technology is so new. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. That picture does look like a MiniDisplay Port. The box packaging picture looks very real though.

IMHO it just wouldn't make sense to have the standard screen on the smallest pro-level laptop be vastly inferior to the standard screen on the similarly-proportioned ultraportable. Seriously, if this leak is real, my money is on it being a replacement for the white MB. Think about it, this thing would be ridiculous at 1199$. A 999$ price point would be quite convincing though: consumers could then choose between a tricked-out iPad, an entry-level MBA or this laptop as their gateway drug to Macs.

Ha!

I hope you're right (I was thinking the same thing). Unless Apple has their head up their .... there is no way they can ask $1199 for that.

Better CPU
Worse GPU
Same HDD(no SSD)
same resolution and display
lightpeak...

this is a bad dream. this is what i've been waiting for months? it can't be true!

I'm betting on a $999 for this BTO. Anything more is unreasonable.

I just hope this isn't a sign as what's to come for the upper-tier MBPs. I seriously want to upgrade my 5 year old iMac, please don't screw me over Apple.

Be careful with SSD's speculations. I think that uncle Steve is going to avoid us from replacing the hard drive by some kind of trick.

i fear this also.
def not going to make any purchase until tear downs are done.

The Thunderbolt logo looks apple like, with the itunes and app store logo.

As for specs,

Intel 3000 HD graphics, way would they be going to something slower?
resolution, does it really make that much difference, on a 13" everything will be so small no?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPod; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)

...which is exactly why it probably is true.

Wait, so we have a higher end 13" MBP with:

Same ****** 1280x800 res display
Same design
No mSATA SSD for OS
Same Weight
i5 Processor with Intel Graphics

:mad::mad:

What was wrong with the name LightPeak? Sounds better than Thunderbolt... And since Apple seems to be the first to use it, they set the standard for the shape of that plug? Apple and standards don't fit well. Will be interesting to see what Intel will say on thursday.

Can. Will.

Yep, most likely.

Tiny chance the OS is included on small SSD but not part if the official spec..? Ah, but I dream too...
