shipping with fedex is just simply amazing

for you cdn users out there
how much of a custom tax you paying once the item has been delivered?

or does apple include that in the initial payment for the laptop/desktop etc

If you ordered through Apple.ca (which I assume you did), you only need to pay GST/PST (although in AB you don't have PST right?).

New switcher here, first Mac. I've been waiting on a mac for the last year, waiting for Leopard to drop. It did and I pounced. Ordered a 15" 2.4ghz MBP with the 200gb 7200rpm HD yesterday at 4pm. Tacked on the 2 day shipping; estimated ship date is Nov 27 and delivery is expected Nov 29. This is going to be one long, tough wait. I'm already checking the order status every hour. Can't imagine what it's going to be like as I get closer. I'm currently frothing at the mouth. I thought it might be rabies, but I haven't been bitten by any rabid squirrels so it must be the MBP anticipation. :froth: :froth:

:p

I question why apple ships with so many different carriers. Why do I get stuck with UPS and other people are lucky and get fedex. In my experience with shipping UPS, is a gong show of screwups and misplaced packages and things getting shipped to locations halfway across the country then shipped back for absolutely no reason. While fedex on the other hand seems to have their thing in order and packages arrive quite often earlier than expected. Apple give me a choice. I would pay an extra few of my $1.10 canadian dollers to get a choice of carriers.

ordered via apple.ca, so there was no customs tax, and I'm in AB, so the only tax I paid was the 6% GST :)

I also heard lately (and I may be wrong here, so look into it before making a purchase), but on some items, they are duty-free no matter the amount of time spent across the border thanks to NAFTA. And apparently, this list of items includes computers. Good news for all the cross-border shoppers out there (though again, look into that to make sure.. I only briefly heard the story on the news a while back).

My situation is not outrageous, save for the exasperating effect of my anxiousness. I ordered a MBP refurb and a DVI>video dongle on Nov. 1st. The dongle arrived on Nov. 2! shipped from New Jersey to western Mass. The MBP was scheduled to ship Nov. 5-7, but actually went out the morning of the 2nd from California. Yesterday (the 6th) it reached Grove City, OH. It's due to arrive the 8th. I hope it makes it; I don't want to stand the wait much longer.

So, first I get disappointed to wait a week for shipping. Then I get excited because it's shipping right away. Then I have to wait a week for it to travel across the country. Plus that dongle has been sitting on my desk clearly waiting with as much anticipation as me for it to achieve, to make something of itself.

Fedex, BTW. I update the tracking obsessively. Sure hope it comes tomorrow.

So I just received my shipping information from UPS and again they totally screw me. I pay the extra 20 something dollers for it to be expedited and to get 2-3 day delivery and I get my notification that it was shipped on the 7th expected to arrive on the 14th. That to me seems more like a 5 business day shipping I should have saved my 20 bucks and gone regular. I am so fed up with UPS. Please would the world stop shipping with those douche bags!!!!!! Apple guranteed it to get to me by the 13th at the latest so do I get some sort of refund??

I wake up and to my suprise UPS has some sort of delay, with the airplane needing to be offloaded. Its weird that in this thread alone mostly everybody that shipped UPS got the same offloaded excuse for their sucking so much.

I just checked my tracking again and it took 2 days for a departure scan after offloading the plane. I mean, does it take 2 days to load the shipment onto another plane? UPS is just retarded.

Another thing I can't figure out is, the shipment is coming from China and now it says my package is in Ontario? I live in Vancouver!?! You would think that UPS would put it on a Vancouver flight instead of going across Canada and then having to backtrack. Why can't Apple just ship everything FedEx? :(

You should complain to Apple and get your extra money back. Even though Apple will blame the carrier, you are paying Apple to have the carrier ship the item in 2-3 days which they are not.

hey were in the same boat. I am also in Vancouver, it doesn't make any sense shipping it across the country then all the way back. Just like it doesn't make any sense that they can't just load it on the right amount of planes the first time instead of doing this load offload crap.

It looks like both of our packages are on the same flight/shipment :p

When did you order? I ordered mine on the 8th. It is still within an acceptable timeframe, but it's painful when it is in the hands of a carrier that seems to be incompentent.

ha ha I ordered on the 4th, and it is still currently in shanghai offloaded for some reason. I wish mine was on the same shipment. ah well apple is going to teach me a lesson on patience although I am hopefull going to get my money back, from them when I call them.

OK so i got the official story and they claim that on the Canadian website it says that expedited service is 3-6 days not 2-3 like it says in the order status. But they did credit me my 23$ back so that was much appreciated. So apple at least made things right.

So FedEx said they wouldn't do it for an international package, but they ended up delivering it to the apartment office anyway. I got it on Friday, November 2. I'm still getting used to OS X...but I love everything about my MBP so far!

Anybody actually received their 2.6 MBP yet?

Has anybody actually received their 2.6ghz MBP yet? Or even a firm ship date/tracking #? I ordered mine 11/1, and order tracking lists it as "ship by Nov.22".

*Update*

My MBP 2.4GHZ with 200gb 7200RPM HDD status has been changed to "Prepared for Shipment" But the date still says Ship by Nov.22.

By the way I ordered on Nov.1

*Update*

Apple finally shipped my machine! I'm so excited. It should be here on Nov.15
On the same day I get back from a business trip in Japan. :D

I ordered on the 7/11 and I have as well an estimated delivery for the 22/11. I believe that apple has a time-window for delivering the machines from China, because can not be that people ordered way earlier than me (i.e. 1/11) have the same estimated delivery date.

The waiting is killing me ;o)

Still no 2.6 MBP's...

I ordered my 15" 2.6 MBP on Nov. 1, and order tracking still says "ship by Nov.22..." I'd love to hear from anybody who has actually received their 2.6ghz MBP. Who will be the first??

I ordered my MBP 2.4 with the 200GB 7200rpm and glossy screen just yesterday The estimated shipping date is Nov. 21 - it's going to be a long two weeks.

I ordered mine on nov the 4th, shipping by the 26th. I also got the 200 gig drive. Seems like the 2.6 is deffinetly the hardest component for apple to get... As it happened with the hard drives where the delivery delays went from 2 to 3 weeks to 10 buisiness days, I secretly hoped the same thing would have happened with the CPUs.

I have just checked on the apple website, and the delivery times for the 2.6 CPUs ( and for the 200 gig hd) is now 5 to 7 working days! I assume our computers will soon be ready... Rahhhhh!
