optical drive wise it will not fit for sure, the slot on the 12.7mm optical drive will not line up with the slot of the 9mm drive.

there is no was around this that i know of, sorry

nope, its 12.7mm.. wont work... maybe in the 17" old MBPs though?

this one has a very good chance of working, looks almost perfect for alignment...the height would be the only issue...which i think is fine.

well, it finally arrived!!!

i purchased it off ebay (here). i have yet to install it, but i am hoping that i will be able to thursday night after uni 😀😀😀😀

i will post results, i measured it and it looks to be the correct height! (yay)

well this is RATHER annoying!!!!

trying to replace the optical drive, everything fits ok.. but the connector does not! it has some sort of optical drive interface - and the caddy has a sata interface. what do i do?!?!

my HDD is sata so i assumed the optical drive would be similar.. (left is from MBP)

yes it did, i was under the impression that my optical drive had a sata interface too. clearly not.

so i guess my choices are this:
1. re-sell it on ebay
2. chuck it in the bin

i believe there are no PATA caddies anywhere, apart from the "real" opti-bay, is correct? ebay didn't return any results for me 🙁
