And what about the MacBook Pros? Will they be anounced tomorrow?
(Btw can anybody tell me at what time the conference will be...)
:apple:

I've had my fingers crossed for months. I was ready to buy a new MBP on Thanksgiving weekend and have been sitting on the edge of my seat ever since. In fact I bought a Mini the day I was going to buy a MBP to hold me over until I can get a MBP. I needed to buy something Apple related that was new to play with and distract me from my lack of ability of buying a MBP since they were to be refreshed soon. I figured I'd rotate the Mini into media center duty once I got the new machine. :D

I'm hoping its based on the iPhone OS, like the iPhone is based on OS X. So we can get multitasking natively, Finder support, etc

Maybe it's a leak and maybe it's not. ATI once let it slip that they were gonna provide GPUs and Apple quickly changed to nVidia.

Those wanting a tablet mac will be dissappointed. Apple shot down the idea years ago. I want an iPod Touch on steroids and that's exactly what it'll be.

You guys are hilarious. A "controlled leak", yeah right.

Terry McGraw is the CEO of a multi-billion dollar company, not to mention the fact that the company has his name on it, as it did his father and grandfather, etc. etc.

The guy simply wanted to sound like he knew what he was talking about, and probably should have left it with "it will be terrific".

Man, talk about a feed frenzy.

I'm sure Apple have been looking at the buzz and thought we just aren't getting enough in the education markets we want to target. A quick call to follow CEO from SJ to tell him he can be a little freer about what he says.

Bingo, ever education writer is now scanning all the rumors to pre-write their articles to try and sound as informed as possible for that piece they are going to have to submit just hours after the event finishes.

He gave it away!

Splatter paint and textbooks. It all makes sense now. Wow, who does this textbook CEO think he is??

It won't be a re-skin of iPhone OS. They will take iPhone OS and add some interesting new user interface things. I expect multitasking apps and windowing. You'll probably be able to toss around windows with both hands, ala Minority Report.

I also think after we have experienced the UI of this device we will be dying to have a giant one on our desk and wall where we can _really_ toss around big windows ala Minority Report!

Finally, I think that subscribing to things will be be big thing as far as content is concerned. We will be subscribing to magazines, newspapers and TV shows, surprisingly cheaply.

This is all quite silly. The iPhoneOS is nothing more than OSX with some functionality removed (a bit added). If you notice more and more is being added. So the difference is really minimal.

IOW, if you want to run OSX apps, it'll happen soon enough, but you really do want them to be touch oriented. Patience ....

That means $1 more dollar R&D put into making a better "page flip" animation and interaction for yuppies to play with, when they could have spent it figuring out how to offer a matte option on their laptops. Or jam a i5 into their middle of the road desktop when Dell is putting i7's in their laptops.

You really think Apple isn't able to do those things as it stands?
They can, they just don't want to.

I'm certainly far more interested in the Apple tablet then any small hardware upgrades. With this, the iPhone having had happened in 2007, what else do Apple fans have to wait for that has been rumors for so long?

(the headless Mac maybe, but the Mini took that spot quite well)

ABSOLUTELY NOT! There is NO effing way Jobs wants some nobody to steal his thunder the night before---NO WAY, NO HOW

There is no 'thunder' being stolen. Last time I checked, no one is going to ignore tomorrow's announcement because some textbook company said the tablet runs the iPhone OS.

I think it was Alex Lindsey who said Mac OS X is a lego kit. You can pop parts on and off as needed. So, iPhoneOS is really OS X with a bunch of unneeded parts taken off and some parts replaced.

It's entirely possible the TabletOS is really iPhoneOS with a few more parts clipped on.

Thankyou. You saved me reading 11+ pages to see if this was said before saying it myself.

I love it when people pull out this line. I'm sure someone would be happy with a Ford instead of a Ferrari because they're both cars.

It's more like the difference between a Lamborghini Gallardo and Audi R8 (or Porsche Cayenne and VW Touareg); they've got the same underpinnings, but one is obviously better (both the former in this case).

PS: I'd have gone for a SEAT/VW or SEAT/Audi relationship if I knew about SEATs. The contrast would have been better.

Nope. It's a well-timed Apple PR leak.

You have that right. This is the big leagues and PR fumbles do not happen like that. From hearing the tonal pattern, I would not be surprised that he was reading from prepared text to say exactly that. Also, now McGraw-Hill has a jump on all the other publishers on mindspace for the tablet.

apple is behind this you know it....

This guy had been sent on to allow a leak, if he didn't then this companies books would be gone and they would go with another companies version of the ebooks. Apple leaks things themselves all the time its all about making hype. well its working, i'm not sure what need i would have for a tablet computer if its a 7 inch screen i will not be getting ever no matter how good, 7 inch is to small. if its at least 10 inch then we'll talk, but i am really interested to see tomorrow what apples take on the tablet is going to be. You never know it could be an iphone like changing the market device. You never know. I will be waiting for the news and the keynote video, gotta watch the keynote, if your an apple fan its like masturbation for tech. lol

I just hope that Apple will not force one to get a data contract. I rather just use Wifi and save myself the $60/month.

Yeah, the cat's really out of the bag now. We thought we knew bits and pieces of what the tablet might be, but none of the rumors to date have mentioned the fact that the tablet will be terrific. This leak basically ruins tomorrow's announcement.

He made it official. That honour is reserved only for the annointed Steve! ;)

Read My Lips : NDA

Mr. McGraw-Hill CEO, there's a Mr. Steven Jobs on line one with his attorneys regarding your big mouth & the signed Non Disclosure Agreement with Apple.

Thanks, dude.

I agree with lots of people on here, it was probably a controlled leak. BUT, maybe through this leak we can learn what it's actually called...The Tablet, or the Apple Tablet. Just a thought...
