I am very happy to say that...

My me.com address is also already active. Have not tried my aliases yet. My understanding of the situation is that we will be able to continue to use our mac.com addresses along side our me.com addresses. For those asking about getting out from under the pile of spam you may have acquired over the years, it seems to me that you could just create a rule in mail saying that anything coming to mac.com should be trashed, deleted, bounced, etc. In my case, since I also have a yahoo, aim, msn, and google email accounts, I don't get all that much spam to my main account and so will continue to use mac.com as long as it lets me do so. Good luck to all.

Nope, mine's not working yet. I get a "rejected by the recipient domain" error.

Have Apple given an official date when MobileMe is being launched? Is it coinciding with the iPhone? launch

I don't think that is correct...

Sounds like they may be going LIFO (last in [newest members] first out [first to get .me.com e-mail addresses). If that's the case, it'll be a while for me since I've been with .Mac for the entire time.

/I love that Apple Kool-Aid!
//tried my .me.com e-mail last night and it didn't work

I have been using the same email account since it was called iTools and was free but have already had a successful test of me.com. Perhaps it's alphabetical.

Works for My Email

Just sent a test to my .mac account with .me instead of .mac and it worked, the message appaeared in my .mac account. Personally I prefer .mac to .me...

new email working ...

new email working ... but new a/c 20gb still not open for business

Just got my first spam at my me.com email address already! Haven't even used that address or given it to anyone yet - I guess spammers are just going through the dictionary and spamming everything.

SPAM???? Already? Is it something like look@me.com and all the others that have been joked about?

Nope, it's "who" (an abbreviation of my surname).

Looks like either spammers are very efficient at adding new domains to their spam list, or they've been trying those addresses for ages and now that Apple have finally activated them it's getting through.

Then again, I googled "me.com" around the WWDC and found a forum post from someone who was working with that domain, looks like Apple might have bought the domain off someone, and perhaps the email-address harvesters grabbed the email addresses off the old site?

I just got a .mac account - been toying with the idea for a while, and the whole 'cloud' thing pushed me over. However, I specially got one now, so that I can have a .mac address - something about the @me.com that does not sit right in my mind.

Same here Win!
I had pulled up on a trial but then I got a sweet deal on .Mac from ebay ($63 for single). Couldn't resist. And once MobileMe's up and running, I guess nothing coming below $90 on ebay!

Ya, I did the same. Searched through Whois and it definitely wasn't Apple!

My .me is working..

Mine seems to be working.. I question is, since I have a .mac account already do I get to keep my .mac account name???

Bummer. I'm now being heavily spammed at the new me.com account.

Spam on a Mac/PC is a pain, but spam on a mobile device is far more so - wastes expensive bandwidth, slows email retrieval, more difficult to remove multiple messages etc.

I was hoping the me.com would be relatively 'clean' and so could be used with the iPhone once I get one; but with all the spam I'm already getting I'll have to use another account.:(

And this is why I don't like .mac and other email addresses. I hate it when the company up and decides to change the address. Verizon customers are going through that right now in our area. This is very disruptive for people.

The solution is to own your own domain name. $9/yr. Cheaper than .Mac by far. Add a web host shared account on that for another few dollars a year and you have far more power and stability. Then you don't have Apple all of a sudden changing your email address which means notifying all your friends and customers, printing new brochures, new business cards, updating logins, etc.

Apple is doing their .Mac customers a huge disservice.

Wah wah wah! You really think @me.com is all you get with MobileMe? Please educate yourself before vomiting nonsense. @mac.com is not changing, they are giving you an ADDITIONAL OPTION!

It works for me

Well I did another test and this one made it through. Looks like they are getting close.
