Don't need to do anything...
All I did was to send an email to name@me.com instead of name@mac.com.
The email then showed up in my dotmac inbox in the Mail.app.
You shouldn't have to do anything to set this up.
Note: I am guessing that there will be several software updates just prior to the mobile me release. We are likely to see iTunes, Quicktime, System 10.5.4 and 10.4.xx as well as an update to the Mail.app in 10.5 and 10.4. I say this because the "Add account in Mail preferences doesn't auto add for an email with an @me.com extension like it does for just about everything else. It (as of this writing, requires you to input both the incoming and outgoing mail servers which is not the case for current dotmac or even comcast accounts).
Edit:
The system prefs pane and iPhoto apps will also have to be updated to include the new mobileme badges. (Watch the Mobileme demo at Apples website and you'll see what I mean) Also, I hope Address book gets updated to include the Alphabet headers (listing for A...B...C...etc.). I expect iCall.app will also see an update too so that the stand alone apps will look a bit more like the Mobileme apps.
This is probably a bit dense. But can someone who has got their me.com account working just fill out a bit of info on what they actually did. I can get my me.com email working if I set it up as a mac.com address using new account etc and using all the same info regarding mail servers as mac.com, however if I send an email to me.com it then appears in both mac.com and me.com mailboxes. Someone mentioned setting up with mail.mobileme.com as the mail server. Has anyone done this and does it work? I tried it and it doesn't work for me. Says there's no such server.
Is mobileme email going to keep using the mac.com mail servers and you just have an email address that says me.com even though the mail server is still called mac.com? Or will the previous mac.com server change to me.com, or will both be running simultaneously. Or do I just not know what the hell I'm talking about?
