Predictions for the Media Event speech:
"Thank you all for being here today. Since the ipad was released last April it has been an unprecedented success selling more than 10 million units around the world and hundreds of millions of applications.
Today we'd like to show you the next generation ipad. The ipad 2 is twice as fast and with twice as much RAM as the first generation.
In addition, we've added 2 cameras which will allow users to face time with the hundreds of million compatible devices around the world.
As we learned how people were using their ipads we realized how much people love using them to read books but complained how difficult it was outside in sunlight.
We were able to fix that problem with a new display. Our new screen is 40% easier to read in sunlight and its anti-reflective nature makes images appear sharper and clearer than ever before. Once you get your hands on it I think you'll agree we have something special.
Now that we've seen how much people love their ipads we know they want to be able to enjoy it not only at home or at the office but everywhere they go. To help out we've made it thinner and lighter allowing you to put it in your bag and take it with you on vacation, the subway or anywhere else you want to go. Additionally we were able to increase the battery life 20% allowing you to enjoy your movies and applications longer where ever you want.
All 3G enabled ipads will be able to connect to both GSM and CDMA networks on a monthly or subscription bases this allows coverage over 95% of the country and allows you to pick the network that works best wherever you might travel.
We've been able to do this an maintain the same low price point of $499 for a 16GB wifi model in addition you can also choose between 32GB wifi or 3G model or a 64GB 3G version. All of these will be available to purchase online and in store March 22
We want to thank you all for joining us during this exciting time but before you leave we want to give a sneak peek of one more thing we're working on that is going to be released this summer.
iOS 5.0 will debut this summer and it is a game changer. A complete redesign set to take advantage of all the new features iOS devices have you've come to love. Additionally we've improve integration with some new mobile me features I think you're really going to enjoy. "
At this point everyone will log on macrumors and complain about the lack of SD cards, retina displays and say how they're waiting for an ipad 3.
I think this will happen eventually, but not yet. I expect the price premium to drop to $100, though.
interesting idea. AAPL is all about price discrimination. Not a bad idea.

Looks spot on to me.
Doesn't make sense to me...release new Macbooks this Thursday which are supposedly a redesign, then next Wednesday a media event only for the IPad? Maybe the 24th is wrong??
"Oh, and one more thing. Take a look at the new Apple plug-in hybrid vehicle..."
hopefully Apple will do away with the 16gb model and offer 32, 64, and 128.
Well take a guess...

Rumor has it, that this rumor may be true or not true.
Analysts close to an Apple store saw an Apple employee holding up two fingers before marching off clearly indicating that the once rumored secret staff meeting that wives were not invited to may have actually happened while no one was looking.
The Wall Street Journal backs up this report noting that they saw two Best Buy employees huddled around a computer pointing and whispering while making notes on a calendar clearly marked March 2, 2001.
Another source close to an Macintosh Appleapple
noted that the date is perfect as it's like the countdown to a ma...m...ma..magical experience as the date would be 3-2-11.
Numerous unknown sources have said they've seen many cars and people come and go from the Cupertino campus also indicating that some event must be in the works sometime in the near future.
I don't understand: Why can Android tablets have SD cards and yet not iPads?

Well, crap. I'm flying back from San Francisco on 3/1.
The day before the release of the xoomThat sure would redirect the tablet attention.
I'm sure he is working behind the scenes, but I don't think that will include doing work in the public eye. However, the question is will he do the public introduction. I say its highly unlikely for two reasons. FIrst, it takes weeks of practice to get these presentations right. Second, Steve Jobs would become the story, not the iPad 2.
AWESOME. I live in San Francisco, only 2 miles from the Yerba Buena center. I'm taking that day off. WOOT WOOT.

Whats an iPad?
Are these events in any way public access?
Because Mac users are afraid of a file system.
