Media Event for Next-Generation iPad Set for March 2nd?

I am sure Steve will do the presentation

Him doing it would get iPad 2 on the front pages of newspapers, even if he has to do it from a stool only he could pull it off in terms of a brilliant presentation

We've been able to do this an maintain the same low price point of $499 for a 16GB wifi model in addition you can also choose between 32GB wifi or 3G model or a 64GB 3G version. All of these will be available to purchase online and in store March 22

We want to thank you all for joining us during this exciting time but before you leave we want to give a sneak peek of one more thing we're working on that is going to be released this summer.

If Apple is "about price discrimination," how come none of the iPad knockoffs can match Apple's low price?

Yep. You have this EXACTLY right.

Except for the fact that this paragraph will somehow get spread over 1.5 hours. Apple media events are always like the Oscars - a lot of fluff surrounding about 5 minutes of content. :)

LOL...this is funny, since no one is going to buy iPad 2. They'll all be waiting for iPad 3 in September.

Apple has definitely done similar things before.. I can't think of an exact example, but I'm 100% positive that in one or more of Steve's Keynote opening, when he's going over statistics, he mentioned macs that were recently updated just a week or two before.

No joke... I've seriously fully developed designs of the iCar/iDrive and how it will incorporate all the features that we love about the iOS in a car... I don't even work for Apple.. just as a hobby lo

I'm sure he is working behind the scenes, but I don't think that will include doing work in the public eye. However, the question is will he do the public introduction. I say its highly unlikely for two reasons. FIrst, it takes weeks of practice to get these presentations right. Second, Steve Jobs would become the story, not the iPad 2.

If I am an investor, and I am, I feel like if Steve Jobs is out and about in public and coming into the office, then him not doing a major product introduction would give me pause. I would talk more about that than if he showed up. Particularly since all the rumors say that he is still working on ipad and iphone.

Either way, if the new ipad is that weak that people only talk about the missing/present CEO then there is a bigger problem at hand.

Does this imply that we still have the same 6 models or do you mean 16GB wifi with no 3g option, 32GB with both wifi and wifi+3g and 64GB only 3G?
