I thought I had fairly small wrists I've measured mine at just over 180mm I used a strip of paper but didn't pull it too tightly as I'm going for the link bracelet and want a relaxed fit
How are you guys measuring?
Defiantly 42mm for my poor eyesight and hopefully longer battery life

This was my same thought. The pebble steel I have fits me fine and these are the measurements:

Apple Watch 38mm
Height: 38.6mm
Width: 33.3mm
Depth: 10.5mm
Case: 25g

Apple Watch 42mm
Height: 42.0mm
Width: 35.9mm
Depth: 10.5mm
Case: 30g

Pebble Steel
Height: 46mm
Width: 34mm
Depth 10.5mm
Case: 56g

Slightly shorter than the steel but a couple mm wider. Seeing the depth is the same on all 3, I think I maybe just go for 42mm.

I actually changed my post after seeing the photo above haha. That looks like a sleek watch. It also made me really want the SS since I would have to buy a color I do not want to get a silver face on the sport.

Haha yeah, it's def tough. That picture does look good but I've seen others of the 38mm that looked completely different. It's tough to tell depending on the camera angles and wrist size. I'm sure I'll change my mind a few more times come April.

38mm. I have a smaller wrist. Plus, I just usually pick the smaller of two things anyways. It's more comfortable (and cheaper! :p ).

Last night I put my dress watch on top of the "actual size" pictures on the Apple Store App. The 38mm was slightly larger than my watch but the 42mm made it look like a kids watch. So I'm def. set for the 38mm now. The 42mm would look silly on my wrist.

not related, but I always read your name as chalupa, and it makes me think of chalupa batman.

Heh. Well at least it doesn't remind you of an actual chalupa:

I'm going 38mm. I have small wrists plus am cheap and don't want to spend the extra $50. I would have probably gone with the 42mm if the cost had been the same, but I was having second thoughts about the size anyway. I hate the thought of these big honking watches on my wrist.

I have a just over 150mm wrist. Pretty tiny, but I'm a lanky bastard so there you go.

Problem is, getting the 38mm locks me out of owning a leather loop band in the future. Kind've annoying.

What do you think is Tim Cooks choice. Kinda looked like a 38 mm but It looked good. Might just have to try one on on 04/10.

I think the 38mm is the choice for me. I dislike "chunkier" designs that are more predominant in mens' watches, and I'm pretty small-boned, so a larger watch would probably look a bit bizarre on me.

It is surprising how much just 4mm of vertical height adds to the dimensions of the watch, though.

It isn't men or women thing.
Apple writes on their website that you should choose the Apple Watch wich will fit best for you.

I got small wrists, so i will buy the 38 mm.

I couldn't agree more.
There are women out there with wrists larger than some men and vice versa.

Pretty sure it is a 42mm. The band looks relatively thick, and he doesn't seem to have small wrists.

Using the Apple Store Sizer on the iPhone yeah I'm leaning towards the 38mm. Unless reviewer reports do give a better view of the batter on the 42mm.

I'm not sure which yet. I may wait till they start the previews in stores then decide after I get my hands on it. But right now I'm thinking 38mm it's just a little smaller than the current Galaxy Gear S which I tried on over the weekend which is like 39mm and change which was a good size.

The Gear S is actually substantially bigger unless I'm mistaken reading the specs. I tried on the Gear 2 (massive) and felt that besides the lugs it was pretty decent fit so I think I'm going with the 42mm :apple: watch.

Galaxy Gear 2
Height: 58.4mm
Width: 36.9mm
Depth 10mm

Galaxy Gear S
Height: 53.34mm
Width: 40.64mm
Depth 12.4mm

Apple Watch 38mm
Height: 38.6mm
Width: 33.3mm
Depth: 10.5mm

Apple Watch 42mm
Height: 42.0mm
Width: 35.9mm
Depth: 10.5mm

Still on the fence re: size. The trad watches I wear are typically in the 42mm range, but in the non-PR shots either :apple:Watch looks too...smartwatchy, for want of a better term.

I like nice watches too much to give them up entirely, so I'm seriously considering wearing my trusty Seiko Astron, Citizen, Omega or Steinhart Sub homage on my left wrist, and Apple Watch on the right. I'd like this ludicrous combination to be as subtle as possible, so I'm leaning towards the Space Black SS 38mm.

I much prefer the look of the black because, given that the screen is off most of the time, it looks a lot better and discrete when not in use, the 38mm more so.

Bolded for emphasis:

Sorry, not possible. Maybe split watch use up between work/social, but wearing a watch on both hands is dorky. Even if it was two IWCs. Lots of people own multiple watches. They only wear one at a time. Spare yourself the embarrassment. Figure out if the occasion calls for form over function or vice versa and you have your answer of which watch to wear.

Well, on formal occasions (rare) naturally I won't wear two, and my work environment is anything goes. As for being dorky, at 38 I've long since lost my self consciousness in that regard. I had a Galaxy Note 1 for a bit while I was supremely annoyed at the minuscule size of my iPhone 4. Some people mocked the size of it when used as a phone, to which my response was....eh? Couldn't give a monkeys, genuinely. Rewind 20 years, oh my word, I'd expend brain cells on "Collar up or collar down?" XD

Sure, this may not jibe with my wish for it to look as discrete as possible, but that's more related to my taste - I just don't particularly like the look of the Watch in it's current form, only the Space Black SS with link bracelet is acceptable to me...just. I don't wear decent watches for the benefit of anyone other than myself, there is literally no one I know IRL who has a clue about anything other than a store bought Seiko or Casio lol.

I'm buying it more for functionality tbh, particularly for driving - I never take my 6 Plus out whilst driving, I'm not one of those idiots, but I don't like answering the phone hands free without knowing who it is. Other functions, controlling podcasts, gym use, quick glances to see if a notification is worth bothering with etc are bonuses.

I have the Pebble Steel as well, and was pretty surprised reading the dimensions of the Apple watch when compared to the Steel. It's right in the middle of both models width wise, but still taller than both.

I've been leaning towards the 38mm, but every time I see these numbers, I feel like the 42mm would work just fine.

It really comes down to trying these things on, if only they had them for in-store demo before the pre-order date..
