And what happens if they are all sold out by 3:00am? Can't take that chance my friend.

The world will not end if you don't get your watch the second it's released ;)

Anyway, a solution would just be to pre-order both the 38mm and 42mm, try them on, then cancel one of them. Simple.

I think that looks huge. If it was squared off, even at that size, I think it would look better. I think apple went in the right direction with design.

Maybe your world wouldn't end, but mine sure would. Especially seeing as how my wife is already decided and will be getting one that day. I wouldn't be able to take her rubbing it in my face. :)

It definitely is huge! :). But it was not nearly as bad as I was envisioning, and that watch is bigger than the 42mm :)

Well, if you're in that much of a hurry, you can always order a couple at midnight and return the one you don't like.

Frankly, I don't really care if I get one the first day or not. I'd rather get the right watch the first time. And the only way to tell which is the right one is to try them on.

Yup I think that is probably what I'm going to do.

And it's not that I'm in that much of a hurry, but I'm not sure if you guys remember the great iPad 2 debacle. Essentially I didn't pre-order it and tried to get it when I got out of work. No go. I had to call Best Buy / Apple Store everyday to try to find one. It took like 2-3 weeks of sheer persistence.

Lastly I feel I will get the most value if I get it day one. The price never drops, so having it longer means the cost of ownership goes down. I always try to get my Apple products on day 1 for maximum value.

Well, since you're buying, don't forget to get one for your girlfriend, bro. You'll need a partner to test out the digital touch features anyway. Now that's value! ;)

Of course. That's the problem, my wife already knows which one she wants.

38mm Blue Modern Buckle

And I think I'll go with 42mm Milanese Loop (but may also reserve a 38mm Milanese as well, just in case).

You both have good taste! Bravo!

I'll get my wife a 38mm Sport with the white band. I'm not convinced she will use it to its full potential, but I am trying to consider it as a replacement for her Fit Bit during her yoga and workouts. It does have very impressive health features.

Awesome! Which one you are getting for yourself? :).

My wrist is 7 inches, which is 177mm. I guess that means 42?

I would most definitely go 42 if my wrist was 177. Look at the sizing guide and you can see you are definitely in the 42mn band range.

A 42 Sport, probably black. While I really like the Space Black SS model with the link bracelet, I'd rather not spend over $1K on a Gen-1 product. My approach is to get the less expensive model, see how I use it over time, and then if it integrates into my life like, for example, the iPad has, I can justify getting a fancier model in the next upgrade.

That looks terrible! Far too big! I dont get how people people here with 165mm,177mm wrists are going for the 42mm - it is going to drown your wrist and stick out like a sore thumb. I can't wait for the "I got 42mm and it looks too big on my wrist, should I change to 38mm or will people think I'm feminine" threads after release. Look at the Apple Store app for iPhone actual sizes. The 42mm is a hulk and do not forget the depth of the watch- this will make it feel even bigger! 38mm is the way to go for a fashionable discrete wrist piece.

The depth is the same on both sizes. And I don't really care about the feminine thing. I just want it to be comfortable. And frankly, that Moto 360 was pretty comfortable.

And lastly, this is why I'm having this internal struggle. Because I honestly don't know what to get, because I haven't worn a watch in 15+ years probably. And trying it on in store for 5 minutes isn't even really going to be a good barometer, cause like I said, I put that Moto 360 on for 5 minutes, and I was completely cool with the 46mm size of that one.

Edit: To be quite honest, I'm probably going to wind up with the smaller one, even though I would like to get the bigger one. Reason being, and maybe I'm being naive, I bet Apple is going to talk me into getting the proper size, which is probably going to be 38mm. There are a number of reasons I feel this way. Crude measurement of my wrist indicates it's around 157mm. If we are looking at the 42mm milanese loop, I only have 7mm down before I am at the start of the loop, whereas, the 38mm, it starts at 130mm. So the clasp will be at the bottom of the watch instead of the top of the watch.

Also, like I said, to me, the most important thing is comfort. And I have a feeling the smaller one is going to be more comfortable.

I really wish I knew the size Tim Cook uses, because I kind of think he has the 38mm.

I know the depth is the same on both. To hell with the masc/fem thing- it's rubbish concerning this. Comfort is most important and having a watch that does not drown your wrist - but of course there are people here that feel bigger is better. In this case- smaller is better, unless you want to make some kind of statement with your watch. Personally I feel less is more for a fashionable look.

Which watch are you getting?

Doesn anybody know, if the sport band is different between 42mm and 38mm apple watch- asking about width of band...? how much if anybody knows? tnx

I believe all of the 38mm bands are different widths than the 42mm. The 38mm should be slightly skinnier but I don't think the official dimensions have been released yet.

I don't have a huge wrist, but I think I can get away with 42mm. Plus is has longer battery life.

I think the increased battery life is going to be very marginal. If it was anything significant I don't think they would just say "A 42mm typically experience longer battery life" seems pretty subjective. I have leaning towards a 42mm too though. If it's too big I'll just return it for the 38mm.

What size wrist do you have?

My wrist is 177mm (7 inches). I want the leather loop band, so that means that I can only get the 42mm version. I used to have the original Pebble watch, and according to their site the case was 52mm. I am assuming that if the 52mm Pebble worked for me, I should have no problems with the 42mm watch, right???

177mm should have no problem with the 42mm. The biggest thing when it comes to fitting a watch is making sure the watch fits lug-to-lug on your wrist without hanging over the sides (hopefully that makes sense). Here's a comparison, they are are actually pretty similar besides width, which is less important than height IMO.

Apple Watch 38mm
Height: 38.6mm
Width: 33.3mm
Depth: 10.5mm

Apple Watch 42mm
Height: 42.0mm
Width: 35.9mm
Depth: 10.5mm

Pebble
Height: 50.8mm
Width: 33.02mm
Depth 10.16mm
