We will get a 64GB iPhone this year?

1) The economy is in a better state now than it was just after the 3G's release, let alone last summer's 3GS' release.
2) It's not like Apple has never offered an expensive phone ($499, $599)
3) Like you said, you would buy one .. as others in this thread would (myself included)

Those $499 / $599 prices were unsubsidized though. And we haven't seen anything like that in awhile. I hope I'm wrong but I still doubt it - Apple has been very price sensitive over the last year.

Okay ... $399 subsidized is still $100 less than the "economy" model from summers ago. I do agree they've been more price sensitive, however there is no harm in at least offering it since there seems to be some sort of demand.

I'm NOT a big Apple fanboy, primarily because I feel they purposely hold back basic features in devices even if technologically feasible at their price point to have such features available for the next version (so people will keep updating each year). But if there IS a 64GB iPhone, I will definitely give Apple a LOT of credit because it would be a risky chance to take. :D

If they DON'T, I guess I can't blame them, although I would be greatly disappinted. :(

I doubt Apple does a $400 subsidized phone - it's just way more expensive then anything else out there. And that would probably mean a $650 or so unsubsidized phone with a 2 year contract and probably a $1,000 unsubsidized phone with no contract - no way that would work in this economy, although I myself would certainly pay these prices for 64GB.
Huh? That's nonsense. An unsubsidised phone is the same price with and without a 2-year contract. If it's cheaper, someone is paying for the difference – that's called „subsidy“. (Actually, this someone is the subscriber. It's more a payment by instalments rather than a subsidy.)

The current iPhone is around 600 to 650 EUR (16 GB) and 700 to 750 EUR (32 GB model) without a subsidy. You can assume a similar amount in USD after subtracting V.A.T. and the usual buffer for fluctuations in the exchange rate.

The monthly instalment (hidden in the plan) is around 20 to 25 EUR or USD.

Ridiculous. Signing a two year contract has VALUE to the carrier, so it's partially subsidized. Irrespective of any CONJECTURE on your part, the FACT is that last year's 32GB 3GS was $299 subsidized with 2 year contraxt, $499 unsubsidzed with 2 year contract and $800 unsubsidized without a contract. Those are the FACTS. I paid the $800 price. You don't know what you are talking about.

The people in this forum are so uninformed at times, and so AGGRESSIVE about their own IGNORANCE. I'm not sure why I keep coming back here.

I'm certain there's a memory bump this year, unless Apple chooses to add more functions to the iPhone hardware instead of bumping up memory space.

Right now I'd be fine with a 32GB, but my Music, App & Photo library keeps getting bigger, and at some point a 64GB is a must - at least for me. Hope it'll be included this year, as I'm not thinking of upgrading until "6th gen iPhone" (will be skipping "5th gen iPhone" as I did with the 3GS)

I don't know if this was mentioned or not( too many posts to read) so I will apologize ahead of time if this was mentioned.

I know the Vietnam iPhone prototype had 16 GB etched on the back and that had no screws on the bottom. That screwless design is believed to be an earlier prototype.

Now the Gizmodo prototype had the screws on the bottom and XX GB etched on the back. We can probably assume that is the most recent prototype since an Apple engineer had it. Why would one prototype( believed to be an earlier one) have 16 GB on the back and another have XX GB( believed to be a recent one)? I know it isn't strong proof, but that could hint that it had a 64 GB module in it.

called it too. I knew they wouldn't do a 64gig iPhone as they always need their ipad/ipod touch range to be one step ahead or they lose incentive for customers to buy them

...and that just saved me the money needed to upgrade. 32 gigs won't let me even think about replacing my iPod so I'll keep what I have.

Such a shame. Makes me think twice if I really need to upgrade my 3GS. Worst thing is that I had almost decided on upgrading, but now I'm not all that sure anymore. :(

Stupid ... I'm seriously thinking twice about buying this or waiting for the 64Gb version refresh later this year or for the iPhone 5.
