Guys
We are consuming bandwidth, storage space and who knows what else. The iPhone 4 is not the first and certainly not last product to have issues. Either return the phone or get the case. What is the big deal?
The big deal is that the CEO of the company that makes the phone and, by extension, the company itself, has no understanding of the problem, that his customer base is affected by it, that it's not a cheap phone in a bad economy and that he's perfectly content to drift right past it like it doesn't exist. I listened to what he said and the problem with the iPhone 4 does NOT affect any other phone, smart or not. The problem with the capacitance of the hand detuning the antenna slightly is what he addressed and isn't a huge problem. That you can bridge the gap between the antenna and a chunk of stainless steel and immediately and completely lose the signal IS the problem and there was nothing mentioned of it. He doesn't get it. Apple doesn't get it. That's the big deal.
Secondly, Apple cut deals with certain 3rd party software vendors to restrict some functions of their software only to iPhone. If you use some of that functionality on a daily basis, how are you expected to simply return it? The suggestion of returning it when these deals are in place is simply ignorant. In fact, I'd take it a step further and suggest that if that's Apple's response, returning the phone is out of the question for anyone who's paid money for anything from the app store, restricted functionality or not, unless you get back every dime for every application that cost you money.
"iPhone 3GS. There, problem solved"? If I'm not going to be buying anything further from a company as clueless as Apple appears to be, why would I want a 3GS?
