Self-inflicted misery. That's the trick kids. Maybe if you flaggate yourself a bit more, then God will pay attention to you!

Reality: This is exactly the type of fanboy that ruins companies by allowing them to get complicity and lazy, assured that anything they do is going to get bought by default.

Next level: Start paying Apple extra money in order to help me, make even more money. Ignore AIDS research and such (who cares about them) and pretend to be even holy-er.

Since they are offering I'd like to get this one ...

This!

Jare, yes you have a good point.....

I was planning to return my phone today to att store. But heard about bumber may (most likely) fix this problem got me excited......

hopefully it does fix the problem so i can move on with this phone issue....

Patience, OP. Steve said in the Q&A it would be late next week for the free case. So give it a few days and I'm sure the details will be posted.

Whoo hoo free case! Mine doesn't drop calls, and I've only been able to reproduce the signal drop by bridging the antenna gap with metal. It's damn nice of Apple to offer free cases.

Poor 3rd party manufacturers. Their sales are going to be hurt by this (EDIT: well at least the ones who are not part of Apple's free case program).

EDIT: Now that I think of it they should actually see increased revenue since Apple is snagging up all their stock. Assuming they are making the same profit margin as they would selling directly to a consumer. Even if they aren't the volume should make up for that.

"iPhone 3GS. There, problem solved"? If I'm not going to be buying anything further from a company as clueless as Apple appears to be, why would I want a 3GS?

So you're going to keep using the phone that you say doesn't work and refuse to return it for one that does?

You're not looking for a solution to your problem, you're just looking to whine.

BTW I assume that if you are "not going to be buying anything further" from Apple, that includes apps from the App Store - which Apple sells and makes money on.

Bummer to those who lost their receipts. I always have mine e-mailed to me, it makes it that much more faster, just swipe my credit card on their little iPhones, push a few buttons, and send me on my way.

Best bet is to just buy your bumper via the online store ASAP (I ordered mine as soon as Steve said they would give refunds if you already bought it) and then once it arrives in a week or so stop in and get a refund.

None, since all other owners can get one free too (unless you wait until well after Sept 30th to put it on sale, then maybe...)

Yeah that's what I was thinking ^. I already have two cases so I don't really need another one, but if someone is gonna give me one for free I'll take it! :p

Thank God Steve stood up for what's right. And along those lines, I am perfectly happy with my iPhone 4 and the Bumper I bought on Day 1 and don't want Apple's money at all. I wasn't raised to take money I don't deserve. In fact, I'd like them to charge me an additional $29.00 to offset someone else's free case if that's what it takes as a gesture to show Apple how happy we are with what they do for us.

Look what we're doing to Apple. We can't let this happen.

I think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.

Let them have the $29.00 as a show of support towards designing and engineering the next great Apple product.

First off, the case only costs Apple 1$ to produce. It is an overpriced piece of rubber and plastic. Nobody is costing Apple 29$ for getting a free case.

Secondly, this is a very naive statement and mindset. I believe Apple is basically a good company and releases some excellent products, however that does not mean for a second that I think consumer interest is their primary focus. They are exactly like every single other company in a capitalist economy...their primary focus and ultimate concern is making their revenue and stock prices go up. That is it. It really is that simple and believing anything else is ignorance. Apple's method for achieveing that goal is to put a focus on great design and customer satisfaction foremost in their marketing and public relations strategies (which is the most we can hope for from any public company), but no matter what they claim, it is all driven by revenue and not by pleasing the consumer at any cost.

I'm going to assume they'll give you a return credit on your CC or a 30 dollar gift card.
I'm cool with that.

With the bumper receipt or can we just walk right in an Apple Store to get store credit or gift card?

Since I already have two bumpers and two cases I think I am fine.

Don't want a thing.

Love my iP4. :)

I bet people that have iPhone 4's buy them like crazy now since they know next week they will get credit for their purchase.

EDIT: Just checked apple.com and bumpers are unavailable for purchase. Wonder what the case will be in store now.

How about you just send me the $29.00... :D

Why not just take that $29 and donate it to a charity, in Apple's name if you really want to.

This x infinity. The $29 was a ridiculous mark up when it costs them virtually nothing to make. They could have charged $4.99 and would have still made tons of profit.

I will gladly take my $29 back.
