Forget iPhone 3G, let's talk iPhone 3rd Gen
So you guys don't really know to much about me, but let me give some credentials before I post these up here. I have been a videogame journalist for seven years. I have broke a lot of news before products were released in the past, and had just about as many legal threats. If you look under Kotaku, Gamespot, etc they have quoted my site in the past for stories on Forza, Jade Empire 2, Goldeneye 007 before any real info was out on any of them. I have recently gotten some contacts that know quite a bit about what Apple is doing, and since I love this site, and the cool little bits of news they offer, I thought I would share the stuff I have found out here.
-Apple will be launching a new iPod campaign in print advertising (at least) I would assume this would be online and on TV also. The campaign centers around a new iPod, and a major new music partner.
-Boeing (traditionally a major client of RIM) has recently been given prototypes of iPhones with physical keyboards. They said there was nothing wrong with the iPhone itself, but cited they probably would never use them due to security issues, and the use of iTunes. Apple would not budge on letting them use something besides iTunes, meaning they weren't allowed to use their own software.
-Speaking of iPhone with a keyboard, Apple will be making the iPhone with a physical qwerty keyboard next year. Many companies are testing them out right now, as Apple's quest to get more business users. It will not replace the current iPhone, rather be in it's own category. It will also of course still have a touchscreen.
-I am sure a lot of you have heard about RIM's touchscreen device. The device is being made with consumers in mind, with no physical keyboard. It does have haptic response such as clicking and little vibrations, but it doesn't "push in" like a real keyboard like some sites have claimed. The OS for it is a complete rewrite from what RIM offers now, of course "borrowing" from Apple's own iPhone OS, although from what I hear it is incredibly difficult to use right now.
