[Merged] iPhone 4 pre-order only available in black / not available in white

Wait a sec. You're saying we here at MacRumors need actual "confirmation"?? Nonsense. Speculation is the name of the game, son.
 
If this is such a brilliant plan, why didn't they tell us at the Keynote? Hell, why didn't they tell us at all before pre-ordering started?

Why did they act like they were ashamed of the fact that it happened? Why wouldn't they have told everyone about it as soon as they thought up this wonderful scheme?
 
Orange in the uk are still claiming they will have the white at launch but I think it wont be, I think I knew more than ll the staff combined when i preordered a black.

Tell everyone what? That they are planning this. Even after announcing the white one, they made sure it's not available to pre-order. Did that make any difference in customer's buying behavior? They just have to apologize and move on. Who cares. They can come up with any reason. Manufacturing delays, screens now available etc. etc.

My thinking is that there has to be some White iPhones produced and ready to ship out but for some very good reason there will not be enough to go around on the 24th. By not allowing for pre-orders they can make sure that the few that are out there ready for sale can be more evenly distributed through out the regions where the new iPhone will be made available on launch day.

Its true I am speculating and maybe this subject is getting old for some of you but why do folks willingly step into a conversation just to announce that they are bored with the topic of choice.

Everybody didn't show up to this "party" early and some of us would like a chance to exchange our thoughts and opinions with those that are currently interested in this topic.

You had to of known from the heading that this thread was about something you didn't care about so why bother reading or posting if you don't care?:confused:

You make a point, but it's flawed. There's a reason why searching is promoted so much. Yes, sometimes regulars jump newbies a little too much for it... Even I'm guilty of it. The problem is, when people don't search, we get dozens of threads on the same topic, flooding the page with questions that have been answered and effectively killing other productive threads. The fact is, when answers are not searched first or not asked in an existing thread like this (now) merged one... It makes these forums very ineffective.

The real world and a forum are two very different things. ;)

Tell everyone that the white iPhone won't be available for pre-order.

Just like that. That was easy.

Instead they let everyone wake up Tuesday morning, log-in to pre-order, and only THEN see that White wasn't an option.

It's like the boyfriend or girlfriend who never tells you they're breaking up...you just come home and all their stuff is gone.

If the plan was to get the white-wanters excited for buying in 2 or 3 weeks then there would have been a press-release saying "Hey White iPhone lovers: Get ready to buy your phones on July 1st!"

But they didn't do that ahead of time. The STILL haven't done that.

i was originally ranting about someone saying that white ones are confirmed to be available at 24th.

good that you agree :D

apart from that i'm open for rumors.. here is mine:

white ones won't be available until after the return window for black ones has passed to prevent returns...

timeframe like the iPads Wifi<>3g

Agreed. I was just messing with all this talk about confirmed vs. rumored. We definitely shouldn't say something is confirmed unless it comes from Apple, though even that seems to be a grey area.
 
I think it's pretty simple; they know that black will outsell white and so in order to get as many phones out there as possible, they kept it simple for the launch. Better to serve the largest demand then have people complaining they can't get the black...

I agree. While it may not be "morally" right, it's just damn smart business.
 
BestBuy vs. Apple, Wal-Mart & RadioShack??

Ok I'm new at this blogging thing but this is my personal thought on the matter. I recently called my local BestBuy Store where in fact I did pre-order a 32g white iPhone 4 on the 15th of June when I called they told me the same thing they told me the day I went in to pre-order. That yes they will have the white models but there are only going to be a limited amount in stock on launch day if anything changes then they will call you and let you know I hear people have started getting calls already happy I haven't yet ;). If you pre-ordered a white model on the 15th of June and your not like number 40 and up to pre-order then from what I hear you have a pretty good chance on launch day to get your hands on a beautiful new white iPhone 4. I am number 32 on the list in order of people who have pre-ordered the 32g white iPhone 4 so I'm pretty happy. RadioShack they are saying you can trade in your old iPhone for a discount on the iPhone 4 plus they also where taking pre-orders for the white models but honestly I don't trust RadioShack I have heard more than enough bad issues you can run into getting a phone from there but hey if that's what you wanna do more power to you but it's not like it matters anyway because if you didn't get your pre-order in on the 15th then you may have to just try your luck out waiting in line on launch day and hope they have some devices left over in stock so wake up early on the 24th or better yet camp out the 23rd because I hear that some people started camping out starting today. Wal-Mart I couldn't tell you what's what there but over the years Wal-Mart hasent screwed me over yet lol just FYI tho all (BestBuy's) and (Wal-Mart's) also (RadioShack's) are diffrent around the world same (company) but diffrent in there own way some may get more white models than others, some may not get any, and then some may not get any white models at all it's just all up in the air until launch day on the 24th . I just don't get how these stores have priority over Apple & AT&T because I could not pre order a white model nor the black because the site was just getting crushed by people all over trying to order so I ran to BestBuy there is also going around that BestBuy will only be getting a stock of only 45 white iPhones on launch day and that is including both the 16g & the 32g models so if that is true that's going to suck balls. All in all this is all I have for you at the moment hope all works out on launch day I really want a white one and I don't want to wait till the end of July or August let me know if anything new pop up.
 
Soooooooooo....let me get this straight you honestly believe that Best Buy will have the WHITE iPhone 4 on launch AFTER even though Apple have said differently :eek:
