Ummm my wall of text did say that. I said some stores may have some white models, some may not get any at all it's all up in the air until the 24th. It said that sorry with my wall of text you might have overlooked it.

I recently called my local BestBuy Store where in fact I did pre-order a 32g white iPhone 4 on the 15th of June when I called they told me the same thing they told me the day I went in to pre-order. That yes they will have the white models but there are only going to be a limited amount in stock on launch day if anything changes then they will call you and let you know I hear people have started getting calls already happy I haven't yet ;). If you pre-ordered a white model on the 15th of June and your not like number 40 and up to pre-order then from what I hear you have a pretty good chance on launch day to get your hands on a beautiful new white iPhone 4.

you sounded pretty convinced that your BB guy is right and you will "get your hands on a beautiful new white iPhone 4" on launch day

Cool, eh? Not if you want a response...

I don't care if I get a response I just wanted to say hey this what I feel and what I heard. If it helps it does if it don't ok I don't know anymore than what a normal person knows but honestly to much fuss over this. If you want to read it read it, it's a wall of text if you don't then don't that easy not looking for a response I never asked for one. All I asked if anything new pops up I hope someone else writes on it.

I stopped shopping at Best Buy a long time ago. Those people don't know their ass from a hole in the ground!! Most of them are 16 year old high school students or drop-outs and have no idea what is going on. I can never get help with anything when I go to that store, and they know zero about the Mac stuff, at all...it's like a zoo in there, and nobody knows how to help the customers. Totally incompetant workers. I gave up on Best Buy a long time ago, it's a total joke.

Alright. Chill. We cool, Karma. Just make sure you post back here to verify that you did [not] in fact receive your preordered WHITE iphone on launch day, k?

I second that. I went in there asking questions about routers, of all things, and the guys there always tell me I seem to know more than them...and how I'm not their average customer. I may not be average, but learn something about your products.

But FWIW, many of the apple store employees are almost as clueless. Almost. Except they get bonus points for choosing Mac. :apple:

Also said good chance, there is nothing wrong with having faith that they just might have a limited amount of them on the 24th. No one knows, I'm just saying what they told me and how I felt about the issue. If they have it or not we won't know for sure if they will or won't until the 24th.

So if Apple does have some White iPhones at launch...who gets them?

Do the people who preordered BLACK iPhones get first refusal? Or does everyone get a fair shot at the White iPhones, preorder or not?

Personally, I think everyone should get a fair shot. If you preordered black...you should get black. I purposefully DIDN'T preorder because I didn't want a black iPhone.

Maybe. But I'm not camping out or lining up anywhere that there's a "chance" that they'll have what I want, and possibly walk away empty handed.

Good question. I wonder if they end up with some, since the pre-order line gets in first, if they'll give up a white to those folks if they request it instead.

They said "said" they will call if your order has to be cancelled, so at least the most they can do is do that so we don't go to BB and stand there for nothing.

first come, first serve basis

heres what will happen
(I got this info from my imagination)

On June 24th there will be 2 lines from the get go,
Line 1 = you reserved a black iPhone 4 and are picking it up
Line 2 = you do not have the phone you want reserved (this includes people who did not reserve and also those who want white, regardless of black reservations)

The more people in line 2 for white with a black reservation only means more people in line 2 for black will get a phone

However, this is just a "in a perfect world" speculation and probably won't come true, but I can dream cant I?

Its fairly obvious why apple arnt announcing no white publically, negative press affecting launch and from polls on the web, over a 3rd of people wouldnt be camping outside stores since they want white and wouldnt turn up knowing for definite it wont be there, better to let them turn up, find out theres no white then say **** it ill buy the black instead.

I preordered white 32 gb at my BB, and the more time goes by the more likely I think that preorder may just be filled on launch day.

If these come out, in any limited number - one would assume Apple Stores first. However, there are a small group of people that got a preorder in at BB.

Just IMO - if Apple has any to sell, I think part of the white allocation is going to these preorders. Apple has known since Tuesday that these preorders were placed (keep in mind, many people that preordered the white have no idea about the problems). The BB forums have a FAQ stating all the info they have gotten from Apple, saying basically they have ordered all the units, but haven't heard anything, and won't know until they arrive.

If Apple knows they don't have any to sell or send to BB - they should have already let them know, so they can let their customers know. The BB forum mods have been all over this issue, so I think Apple would want to let them know ASAP if white was a definite no.

So, to me, I still hold out some hope that I may have a white iPhone next Thursday. If not, I'm ok waiting, but I think it's a definite slap in the face to the customers, in particular if white is available elsewhere...because again, probably 75% of the people that preordered white know nothing of the delay.

This likely relates to the color of the button on the web page and not the phone itself. They probably designed a few different versions of the page and they place the pre-order links on more than one page on their site as well.

Uh, no. I'd be willing to wager these buttons are for the white iPhone.

I have no problem with people who preordered wanting to switch to a white iPhone. I do have a problem with them getting first refusal to a white iPhone though. If they're in line ahead of me that's fine. But if they preordered a BLACK iPhone. They get first refusal of that black iPhone, not a white iPhone.

dude I was thinking the EXACT same thing!! hahaha. What if I show up at like 5am and wait until the store opens, with the intent on getting my hands on a white phone, and them saying "we only have black, sorry" Then, I would be like damnit, fine I will just buy a black one then. LOL

Ditto. But "fair" isn't the name of the game, it's "bizness". And Apple isn't accidentally being mysterious and vague as to the white's availability. It does seem like they're just trying to build a crowd in front of the stores on launch day (big media coverage, as usual). So they want us to think that it's first come first serve and those that didn't pre-order may have a just as much a shot at the white one. Ever since Apple started allowing home shipment, they needed to create reasons for us consumers to show up and wait on launch (i.e. "fun", white, impatience). While the iPhone release will always be a big deal, it's always a bigger scene when people are crowded, camped, or lined up at their stores. Imagine if there was only home deliveries of iPhones until supply matched demand... It'd be like a Microsoft release!

Uh, no. I'd be willing to wager these buttons are for the white iPhone.

Then you obviously don't know much about website development.

No good website is designed with image names that correspond to the ITEM you are purchasing.

There are 3 pre-order buttons on the page where you select your desired iPhone model for ordering.

Guess what? All 3 preorder buttons are using the SAME image: bg-btn-preorder-black.gif

Wanna know why? Because the image is black (ok, dark gray) and that's what someone decided to name it. The images aren't called preorder3GS.gif, preorder16GB.gif and preorder32GB.gif - they all use the same image with the same filename. The filename of the "order" button has nothing to do with what you're ordering. It's a standard web control and can use whatever image you designate - in this case they all use the same image.

Even if the white one goes on sale tonight, it will use the same image for the "pre-order" button as the other 3 models if the pre-order button goes on the same page as the other 3 models with a white background. The white version of that button is likely for pages in their store which use a darker background. Pages that they may have toyed with using for the iPhone 4 launch or even pages they may have used in the past.

You're wrong.

White iPhone 4 = hardware fix

Do you think the white iPhone 4 will have a hardware fix?

And also for the next batch of black ones?

Perhaps some insulating material for the antennas?

I might just wait for the white ones or the next batch of black ones. ´Cause if I will have this antenna issue, I´m taking the phone back immediately! I don´t like to use cases or "hold the phone in some weird new way".

Nope, and I very much doubt they will ever change anything hardware related.
