That is the stupidest thing I've heard. It is NOT the answer. I want to buy a phone that works 100% with no issues not have to use a bumper to make the phone work like it should have been in the first place.

QFT. At this point if they *did* change the design and quietly start selling "fixed" iPhones without telling anybody it would create an even bigger controversy. Not. Going. To. Happen.

i had a launch 3GS and had it exchanged on april 20th. there were wifi issues with the original 3GS and the first thing i noticed is that the manufacturer part of of the wifi MAC address was different than my old one. i noticed this because i have mac filtering set up on my wifi router.
i didn't bother to check if it belongs to the same manufacturer but it's a good chance that apple made some hardware changes. and the flakiness i had with my inlaw's wifi went away with the "new" 3gs
You realize there are lots of MAC manufacturer codes that can be used in Apple gear, and that having a different code doesn't necessarily show that they're using a different networking chip supplier?

Well you'll see I was talking about the brakes there. And yes, my brakes work 100% of the time. But I don't drive a Toyota.
I think you've missed the point though, so let me give you an easier example. I had a Nokia 3210. Remember those? And that worked 100% of the time. So I don't think it's unreasonable for a phone to be expected to work, in an area with a decent signal anyway. Because, for all its extra functions - and they are great extras - this is still a phone.

For the past few days i've encountered alot of people who have made jokes of my iPhone 4. "My phone dropped calls, I thought I had an iPhone 4 in my hand! lol!"
Not only did it happen once, but almost every time I show my iPhone 4 now. Less people are taking the phone seriously.
This kind of negative publicity may have a serious effect on the long term mind thought of Apple phones. Maybe the computers, iPads and iPods have a strong loyal base, but the iPhone is now the most important revenue driver and "halo" device from Apple.
Apple needs to make sure the iPhone 5 is nothing less than amazing. Seriously this time.

does your iPhone 4 work as it should? if so you should demonstrate it's superiority as often as you can...that's what I do... seems to silince the riff raff...make a call, show the speed of the device, and compare the retina display to their cell phones...the jokes will stop
Mean either. But revenue = new products. I highly doubt iPhone sales would ever get so bad that they stop releasing phones, but it could mean they concentrate in other areas of growth and leave it like the Apple TV.
Trust me, antenna jokes are just the "popular" thing to joke around about right now. After September 30th, you won't hear any jokes about the antenna. Apple knows this. It was all created by the media, and now people are following along.
Is this a joke? This was the fastest selling apple product in history. They sold over 3 million in the first week I believe. They hardly will stop releasing phones nor is the bad press effecting apple.
Who cares if they make fun of your phone? It it works and you love it, none of that matters. Just enjoy it and quit worrying about it.

You tell your mom to suck it?! The claim that "any press is good press" may apply here. Perhaps the net effect of these questions is free advertizing for Apple. The sales figures for iPhone 4 and Apples stock share price don't seem to reflect a problem.
