I think no one knows for SURE what the heck is going to happen, and it's naive to even attempt to speak for Apple. Obviously none of us have the data to even make an educated decision on the matter. None of the data that Apple has given us means much to us either.

Those of you who think there won't be a revision are:
A.) Either justifying/protecting their own choice of adopting early
(dont' worry, your warranty lasts for a year)
B.) Misunderstand how the market really works

I'm just going to say this: Those of you complaining about the phone AND those of you defending the phone are a tiny tiny slice of the sales pie. Coincidentally, if there WERE to be a silent fix such as a coating, it would be this exact group that would even know or care to exchange their phone... not the whole 3 million. Let me further say that not only will most people be oblivious to it if there was a fix... most of those who care won't even believe it due to personal reasons or stubbornness (pics or it didn't happen, show me this, prove to me this, etc).

In fact, there has been a multitude of videos on youtube demonstrating that some replaced phones don't detune or attenuate as harshly IN THE EXACT SAME SPOT. Those videos are being discredited and buried in the forum every day. Apple knows that human nature is our worst enemy. If/when there is a coating, new owners who replaced or bought the new revision won't complain. Some people will TRY to bark and post youtube videos... and the usual people will shoot them down or simply ignore the prospect of a revision, to their own detriment.

I don't get some of the people's mentality in here. If I were you, I would stick to any type of thread/video that attempts to show a difference in their replacements like superglue. I want to know, because I'm not naive enough to believe that hardware revisions mid year won't happen. This is Apple, they have done it many times.

It's funny that the same people who say "there's no antenna issue, the phone has sold 3 million see?!" are also the ones saying "there won't be a recall, the phone has sold 3 million!". The same reason those 3 million people, on a whole, aren't going to return their phones is also the same reason why they aren't going to know or care about a revision. The people who will actually know or care to exchange for a revision will be barely larger than the margin for manufacturing defects (such as bad battery after 5 months, dying screens down the line, speaker phones, etc etc.). It's also not like phones that are returned aren't useful anymore. Most of the parts will be recycled into refurbished phones. It's also part of why Apple's warranty policy is so good.

This has got to be the 10th thread that I have officially killed by responding. Do people just ignore good info and then repeat the same arguments over and over again here or what?

Remember this phone is launching internationally, so you will have to think outside of At&T. The issue is the signal attenuation when a finger is placed on the antenna gap. This is not a network issue and will happen on any network.

Yes. But since AT&T has a reputation for relatively poor coverage in the greater U.S. compared to GSM service many (most?) other countries, the issue will be even smaller after the International launch. Places with a strong enough cellular signal will have far less dropped calls, attenuation or not. Plus, more people will be getting/buying cases, which also moderately reduces any attenuation.

This will make the i4's dropped call statistic look even rosier by September. Thus, the problem will fix itself without any changes to the hardware.

Same here...I want to see videos...and videos with objective proofs...no video where you cannot really see the difference and to hear the poster saying "it has changed, you can't really see it on the video but it has really changed"...this is BS. I also want to know the built week of the said to be modified phone...

iphone recall?

Did apple have a recall? I have a friend that works for att and he said he will hold one for me when they get one but it will be a few weeks because of the iphone recall? anybody knows anything about this?

Not going to happen. Apple have addressed the issue with the introduction of free cases. This combined with the recent update (4.0.1) should fix most your issues.

I would suggest never listening to this "friend" again, he's obviously full of wrong info

Nope. I think there are 3 scenarios here:

1 - Nothing happens
2 - Apple comes out with a new design next year most likely called the Iphone 5. Best case scenario is that Apple will let people who bought the Iphone 4 get an early upgrade (instead of waiting the 2 years, we might get lucky with a 1 year upgrade option)
3 - Nothing happens

Or nothing happens.:)

Many of us are already eligible for a June 2011 upgrade :D

You get the free bumper or case. The problem is now fixéd. You don't get 40 acres and a mule, you don't get your money back, you don't get a free lunch and an abject apology from Steve himself, or the services of 3 virgins, or a quart of whiskey. Nothing will be stealthily introduced, there will be no alien invasion and all your fantasies will vanish when mom calls you to dinner.

The iPhone 4 is a great phone. The media and all the tech bloggers have simply had a field day with Apple and the so called antennagate since launch day. This entire issue has been made much bigger than it ever should have. Only a small percentage of iPhones have issues with the antenna and Apple is providing you a free case to correct this issue. The bumper or case solves the antenna issue. There is also a small percentage that is experiencing issues with the proximity sensor when placing the phone to your head. Apple is going to address this issue with the next software update to be released soon. If you are still not happy with the iPhone 4 they have offered to give you a full refund! There is no recall and there are no plans to make new models with any new design specifications. The iPhone 4 is doing really well and there are people like me that are satisfied with what Apple has put out. If you are on the fence about getting a new iPhone get off of it and go and get it.
