I think no one knows for SURE what the heck is going to happen, and it's naive to even attempt to speak for Apple. Obviously none of us have the data to even make an educated decision on the matter. None of the data that Apple has given us means much to us either.
Those of you who think there won't be a revision are:
A.) Either justifying/protecting their own choice of adopting early
(dont' worry, your warranty lasts for a year)
B.) Misunderstand how the market really works
I'm just going to say this: Those of you complaining about the phone AND those of you defending the phone are a tiny tiny slice of the sales pie. Coincidentally, if there WERE to be a silent fix such as a coating, it would be this exact group that would even know or care to exchange their phone... not the whole 3 million. Let me further say that not only will most people be oblivious to it if there was a fix... most of those who care won't even believe it due to personal reasons or stubbornness (pics or it didn't happen, show me this, prove to me this, etc).
In fact, there has been a multitude of videos on youtube demonstrating that some replaced phones don't detune or attenuate as harshly IN THE EXACT SAME SPOT. Those videos are being discredited and buried in the forum every day. Apple knows that human nature is our worst enemy. If/when there is a coating, new owners who replaced or bought the new revision won't complain. Some people will TRY to bark and post youtube videos... and the usual people will shoot them down or simply ignore the prospect of a revision, to their own detriment.
I don't get some of the people's mentality in here. If I were you, I would stick to any type of thread/video that attempts to show a difference in their replacements like superglue. I want to know, because I'm not naive enough to believe that hardware revisions mid year won't happen. This is Apple, they have done it many times.
It's funny that the same people who say "there's no antenna issue, the phone has sold 3 million see?!" are also the ones saying "there won't be a recall, the phone has sold 3 million!". The same reason those 3 million people, on a whole, aren't going to return their phones is also the same reason why they aren't going to know or care about a revision. The people who will actually know or care to exchange for a revision will be barely larger than the margin for manufacturing defects (such as bad battery after 5 months, dying screens down the line, speaker phones, etc etc.). It's also not like phones that are returned aren't useful anymore. Most of the parts will be recycled into refurbished phones. It's also part of why Apple's warranty policy is so good.
