In many circles it is known simply as The Daily Fail.

I could see Apple releasing a thin, small phone with no app store or any advanced "smart phone" features - just an iPod + phone in a really tiny enclosure.

dont think so

i think this sounds compleatly ludacris! why would a phone have a click wheel and then a touch screen on the back? or front or what ever the ppl were saying! ha this is just dumb!

Don't think this is going to happen.

Call it a gut feeling.

Couple your gut feeling with the all the logic elsewhere and it looks to me like this won't be happening.

Complete restructuring of applications, way too tiny screen for a keyboard, etc. etc. Not happening, at the very least not before Christmas of this year.

I think what you mean is a click wheel on back and touch screen on the front. I don't see that happening either...once you have a touch screen it defeats the purpose of any other input methods (with exception of ease of use volume and silent switches). If it just has a touch screen...a smaller screen would do away with the easy to use iPhone keyboard...cramming the keys together just to fit the screen. I don't see that happening...would just make it too difficult to type on.

Restructuring the screen and having to redo applications isn't something I don't see them doing. To make the phone smaller and cheaper something like that would be necessary. They would simply have to make a distinction between them on the app store.

Also who knows how long they might have been developing it. If they are doing something they probably would've started well before the launch of the iPhone 3G with a target date for the Christmas season. They can develop more than one product at the same time you know. So saying it won't be coming out before Christmas is pretty silly.

I think the biggest factor is the keyboard...but who knows...maybe they can come up with something.

Not happening.

There wouldn't be a point in releasing it for the holiday season as it wouldn't be possible to wrap one up and give it to someone. It has to be activated first.

This new rumoured product is probably going to be a new iPod touch, not a new iPhone

edit: ok nm...there's a much more simple argument.

Apple phones have NEVER required in store activation. Not even the new iPhone 3G requires it (it's only a stipulation AT&T made to try to make sure people get stuck with a contract...but activation is not actually required to be in store to do that). Many people left the stores with non-activated phones and activated them via iTunes at home. They could easily wrap them up.

if that girl didn't have the double chin, she would be a hottie with a bottie
mind you, she is still a cutie with a bootie

everyone has a double chin when when smiling from that angle.... your toooooo picky dude...

as for the iPhone Nano, I can see it coming and why not, they like to diversify product ranges (i and pro etc... and with iPods too) iPhone and iPhone nano is not to mind blowingly unlogical - unlike my drunken ramble :p

Maybe they mean nano as in just like a 2gb-4gb memory with like no videos?

Even the real nano now can play videos.

If they made an iPhone nano, this is what I think it will be:

-Half the size of the iPhone, no web browsing, email, or any type of internet (def. not 3g).

-Much better battery life.

-Full screen, but not like these mockups we're seeing. Thinner and taller (than the mockups). Something very easy to put in a pocket and take out.

The Mail on Sunday? Don't make me laugh. The only thing this paper gets right is which footballer is battering which girl-band member.

To put it into perspective, this is like getting your tech news from the National Enquirer. Total b0110x.

<edit> if it was a decent tech paper, would it not have a photo of the iPhone 3G, instead of the 2G?

Wirelessly posted (iPhone: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5A347 Safari/525.20)

I'll believe this when I see it. There are a lot of hurdles to cross before this happens. I'm not saying it is not possible but it is unlikely.

i think it would be stupid to release an "iphone nano" it would take away from sales of the iphone, and didnt apple lower the price to $200 so it would appeal to more people

IMO a smaller cheaper iphone would be stupid

agreed

they have to be planning a new ipod touch why else would they give it away for free to college kids if they didnt wanna get rid of their stock for a new one

Credibility of this source aside...does anyone else remember the recent rumor about the "tall" iPod nano with a larger screen to match the aspect ratio of the iPhone/iPod touch? Does anyone else think that maybe the new aspect ratio is right but the fact that it will be "tall" in order to also fit the click wheel might not be right? I'm thinking they just might make it kind of like an "iPod touch nano".

Or maybe that rumor is a bit confused and is really about this "iPhone nano"--it would certainly make sense for it to have at least the same aspect ratio. Of course, unless Apple doesn't open up third-party apps on this hypothetical device, some apps may need to be rewritten for the smaller screen--or they could maybe get the same screen resolution on the smaller screen with more pixel density, but the iPhone/iPod touch is already pretty pixel-packed (I have a lot of videos that just look great to watch on it because of all the definition!).
