[Merged] iPhone - White vs. Black (2010 / iPhone 4 Edition)

the white is pretty but the bezel I feel like would be distracting when watching video, The black is nice but its exactly what I have now and a potential fingerprint magnet. AHHH this is an unnecessarily hard decision.

This thread is hilarious, I actually lol reading it last night!

I thought it was just me that agonised over such decisions!

After years of not wanting to conform to apple I am now looking to get either a 3gs or 4, whichever I can get without spending a ridiculous amount.

I agree with a few of you when you say the front of the white 4 should be black, that would look so much slicker. the white 3gs is very sexy, but the 4 does look a bit cheapo.

I am usually black/grey everything but in this case i have surprised myself by leaning towards white, despite the cheapo white front. I do think the shape of the 4 is not as ergonomic as the 3gs but as its smaller who knows.

I wonder when dummy models will be in the shops or i they are already there. I vote white (for now).

I plan on putting a skin on the back of my phone like a ZAGG skin type product and those normally pretty much eliminate the fingerprint issue. So if you plan on doing that I don't think that fingerprints will be that much of an issue. I love the white from the back but the front not so much. The white is a butter face, which is why I'll be going black.

I'm planning on pre-ordering the black model. My 3G & 3GS were both white so I'm looking to change it up this time...plus, I prefer how the black looks as I'm not too fond of the white front.

At the first look at the two, I was really attracted to the white iPhone but after thinking about it I'm leaning more towards the black iPhone. My main reason for choosing black over white is I have it stuck in my head that dirt will find it's way around the Home button and I will go crazy trying to clean it but alas, it will never look clean. Haha yeah, idk, I know the black will show more fingerprints and scratches but that's what screen protectors and cases are for I suppose.

That's just my take on it.

Those who keep bringing up the white bezel - is it really that much of an issue? I know when I'm looking at my white Macbook screen I'm never thinking "gosh that bezel is really distracting"... Though I suppose if it's a smaller screen and you're taking more in at once, it *could* be...

*sigh* I really am one of the most indecisive people on earth... I am really on the fence over this.. I'm tired of my black iPhone, and I think I want the white one.. but something is holding me back! Grrr..

I think it's a matter of personal preference. The white bezel bugs me but it probably doesn't bug many people.

Compared to the black, it's more distracting. Same if you compared a MacBook to a MBP.

This is really driving me crazy as well. I literally make up my mind about a different color every day. I own a White 3G right now and really like it, because I don't have the fingerprint issue on the back of the device, and it just looks cleaner than the black iPhones. I've seen a lot of my friends' black iPhones and they look so worn with scuffs that are much more noticeable on the black.

The iPhone 4 is covered in glass on the back though, so I'm sure the scuffing problem won't be a problem. I want the white iPhone because I really like that fingerprints won't be noticeable, and I just like how the white looks on the back of the device. It also looks very nice with the different colored bumpers. I'm just not sure if I like the white on the front of the design, though it is growing on me every day. I really don't like how the front camera and small grill is noticeable though.

I want the black iPhone because it looks slick, but the fingerprints are really holding me back.

Such a tough decision.

I'm going for the Black and HOPING that someone will release a screen protector shortly after release. Based off previous experience, screen protectors makes it a lot easier to remove prints (and less noticeable somehow).

I do think the rear plate on the white looks really sharp, it's really just the bezel that's driving me up the wall. Bleah.

I had a white iPhone 3G, I loved the color much better than black.....I just don't know what to think of the white iPhone 4....with the white front and all. I want to pre-order it online so it can be mailed to me on launch day (isn't that how it works?) I just don't know whether to choose white or black....

Went with white on my 3G and I love it but I just think that black looks so much better on this model, maybe it's just too much white.

I'm going to see if anyone makes a "black" screen protector. That way, you could get a black front and white back like the 3G and 3GS.

Yeah, that's a good point.

This is a much harder decision than it was for me last time around. White was a no-brainer (for me) after seeing how greasy/disgusting the black 3G was in the store in comparison to the white one.

So...

Greasy, fingerprint-laden black vs less greasy white with a dirty home button which will need to be cleaned regularly to avoid dirt build up.

Why the hell did you have to make the home button WHITE Apple?
