i'm leaning towards white since the front bazel is finally completely white unlike the 3gs.

How come the white has that speaker looking thing above the ear piece speaker and the black doesnt seem to have it?

It must be some sort of grill for the proximity and ambient light sensors.

There will be one to a degree on the black model too but maybe it's just not noticeable from pictures :S

I have always gone for the black one but I have to say the new iPhone looks great in white. I agree that white has always seemed truer to an Apple product, but until now it just didn't fit. Half white with a plastic back on 3GS? No thanks. But pure iPhone 4 looks great in white so I am leaning that way.

Always went black and I'm not changing! Something bout the white version doesn't look right to me. Although the white phone with the black bumper did look cool.

initially i thought black, but after seeing all of the hands on videos with the white model, it's growing on me. i'm thinking of getting the white and going naked with it. aside from the potential of dropping it and cracking the glass, what do you all think of going naked with this model? not that any of us have held it yet...

if you drop it once....you'll learn your lesson and never do it again...at least, thats how it worked for me. with the 2G I was really drunk outside on the street and then dropped it from about knees hight (cargo pants that night) and then bam....spider web. That was about 2 months after I got it, approx 4 months after release. Anyway, got the 3G in september because of the messed up screen. I still kept the 3G in it's birthday suit, and now no matter how drunk I am...I always ensure it gets in the pocket before I let it go. It's a simple method, but it works....but I did make a mistake one time, I was going to get my car washed and forget I put it in my (rarely used) shirt pocket, went back to my car to get my phone, bent over and bam its on the ground...luckily the fall wasn't that bad.

having said that, I think the "slip-ness" factor will be the same as the plastic back of the 3G + 3Gs

Always keep the iPhone in it's birthday suit, it keeps it the sex, doesn't add bulk, and actually allows you to pull it out of your pocket without the pocket going inside out

Awesome idea

I’m getting both black and white, but I’m going to switch back plates with them that way it can have a custom look. White face with black back for me, and black face with white back for my wife.

I'm not worried about the warranty. If anything happens to them, i'll just get another phone. No big deal buddy

Lol ok..and that is kinda a cool and unique idea :)...i wish i had 600 bucks to blow if something went wrong though...but it's probably great for resale.

If, and I do say if, anyone of them were to go wrong, I have a small business account and I get to write them off......I'll only have to pay 33% of the cost, but i'll have to pay full price if it happens again. lol

For me, I guess it's like buying a new car. The last car I bought was black. It looked soooo sexy on the showroom floor, but once I got it outside for a couple hours I began to realize what a pain keeping it clean was going be. I ended up trading it in for a white one and it can go much longer looking clean before it needed a bath.

Watching some of those demo video's in the above posted link, I have confirmed my theory (at least in my own mind). I'm not sure if any of you who have watched those videos noticed, but the black iP4's looked really dirty and smudgy after everyone and their mother were handling them while the white iP4's didn't. Black seems to reflect what's on the glass and white tends to absorb it more.

That's my $.02!

Agreed. However with the White model you don't notice the fingerprints as much so I'm leaning a little more to the White model....

Blast! You beat me to it! ;)

I'm still not sure.

At first, I hated the white and was set on the black.
Then, I started to love the white but not that grill above the earpiece.
I convinced myself I wouldn't notice it.
BUT
Not I'm drawn to the black again.
It's just so classy.

Just like that crackhead... I think I'm going back to black.

Currently have the white 3GS. Had a black 3G. After a while, I didn't really notice the fingerprints on either model. Went naked both times and didn't really have many scratches except for the plastic back, so that shouldn't be a problem anymore. Wonder if the antennas will scratch up easily.

White does get more looks though, since more people have the black one.

I've always liked black gadgets and i really disliked the white 3GS ... just looked wrong with the white back, silver band and black front.... however, the new White iPhone 4 has really got me thinking ....

I'm undecided myself and am genuinely considering both options.... I agree now that the total white and silver looks more 'Apple' (albeit Old School Apple) but i quite like that ... feels almost retro in a way now

I got a white 3GS and this is the reason I'm getting black this time. White on the back is okay, but for using it in the dark (watching videos), you want the bezel to disappear. That is the reason the bezels for all televisions are dark.

I love both colors but will most likely get black simply because it fits me better. Anything that I get that is white, is not white for long.

But, they are not all dark....
