Droid X, the iPhone "KILLER" launches today

Any pics of the thousands of people lined up in front of the Verizon Stores? Where's the media? Oh I forgot they're all covering the iPhone press conference tomorrow

My co-worker picked his up today and I played with it for a couple minutes. Phone is big but manageable. Screen is nice but compared to an iPhone 4, definitely lacking. The os is super quick, probably cause he just got it an hour ago and hasn't installed anything on it.. but if my only choice was verizon right now, I wouldn't mind picking up this phone.

Agreed. Friend of mine has the original Droid and it's quite snappy so I imagine the Droid X is nice too. Just not a fan of the UI.

I'd blame Verizon and their nonexistent marketing campaign for the Droid X. When the previous "iPhone killer" the Evo, came out, Sprint/HTC did TONS of marketing for the phone.

Actually, I was considering picking up a Droid X (no AT&T service in my area), but Giz's review of it makes me a bit worried.

I'm a verizon customer right now and the droid x never even crossed my mind lol. I just got on the priority list at the apple store for an iphone 4. it's all about the iphone! :D

You know, I'm tired of the term iPhone killer. Lets put that to rest.

As for the Droid X, I picked one up this morning and I can say, that I'm blown away. The screen, the performance, the size. While critics, mostly iPhone fans will say its huge, it really isn't. It fits very well in my hand, and its noticeable in my pocket.

Its a clear upgrade to my Nexus.

As for verizon folks not waiting in line - yeah most people either reserved theirs or ordered online. I had reserved mine and I could see that verizon was doing a very brisk business selling these puppies.

Buddy got one. Too big for my taste, but it seems like a nice phone. The HDMI port is neat if you store videos on your phone.

I should mention my co-worker who picked up the droid x only bought it because he's got a 26 or whatever percent discount through his company. He really wanted an iPhone.. :p

LOL! I forgot this phone was coming out. Apple ruined their party when they stated they're having a press conference tomorrow. All news sites are talking about is Apple, not the Droid X.

There is something about the Droid phones. I just have no interest in them. The interfaces seem messy. They remind me of PCs when pitted against Mac. After 15 years of using, building, fixing, working with PCs, the Droid is the last thing I want as my phone. Maybe I'm pre-judging them though.

Another POS Android phone. Give it a month and nobody will even remember. They'll say, "It's good, but no iPhone.. but the next Android phone is the iPhone killer for sure!"

Same BS every time. The only thing to kill an iPhone is a new iPhone. End of story.

There's been a lot of killing going on but yet, the iPhone is still on the top of the hill. :apple:

You mean, Apple's phone is still in second or third place, depending on whether you mean USA or world, and what month it is.

Google says over a million Android devices are coming online every week now. The biggest problem right now, is that supplies are way behind demand.

It'll be interesting later this year to see which comes out nicer: Android tablets or an HP WebOS tablet. I think the latter will be easier to use, but the former has so many more apps.

The only people calling droid x (or any of the high end android handsets for that matter) an "iphone killer" are insecure apple nerds.

It's makes them feel better about their purchase when the so called iphone killer doesnt meet or beat their expectations. But of course thats impossible since its not an iphone.

You wouldn't know it at the verizon stores - the Droid Xs were flying out the door. :D

Let's be fair: If Apple was putting iOS on three dozen different devices on every carrier known to man, I'm sure they'd be selling a lot more phones.

The only iPhone killer is the iPhone 4...

Just kidding. That's the first negative thing I've said about the iPhone 4 but I thought it would be funny/fitting for some.
