[Merged] Post-iPhone-4 Verizon discussion

I believe the verizon iphone will probably be ready to debut for 4G. There is no doubt in my mind that there will be a verizon iphone. There are so many rumors and demand, it would be stupid for these two companies not to offer one.


I currently have an android phone on a one year contract so i can sit back and watch how this plays out.

That exact rumor (naming Pegatron even) has come up numerous times before.

I doubt Apple will be dumb enough to get everyone locked into ATT contracts and then announce a Verizon version soon after. They don't want to get their fanbase upset at them. The year it goes multi carrier in the US, the announcement will be at the same time as the new iPhone, even if the release of the phone on the new carrier(s) isn't the same time as the ATT version.

Are you serious? Do you know the amount of nutjobs (myself included) that will buy an iPhone this month and then if it drops on Verizon 3 months from now, turn around and hop over to Verizon and buy one? Apple would love nothing more than double dipping.

Oh yea I havent emaild you back yet. Im still on the fence about just holding out for the white iPhone. I have one reserved at the Apple store but I dont want to settle so Im still waiting to hear some confirmation of whether there will be white or not. I dont want to tie up one of your referrals so you can go ahead and fill them if can. Ill check back with ya sometime next week.

Thoughts about the possibility of Verizon iphone

What does everyone think about the chances of verizon getting the iPhone this holiday season? If it's true, then I'd want to wait and skip this phone. I'm really torn since I skipped the 3GS upgrade.

I think Verizon has a fair chance of getting the iPhone eventually. This holiday season? Not a chance. Steve Jobs and his OCD would never allow an iPhone be announced/released on a day other than the WWDC. I also don't imagine Verizon getting an iPhone before 2012. AT&T and Verizon would probably share the same phones as well to be honest.

From my post above:

If a Verizon iPhone is coming, it won't be in September, closer to the holidays would be my guess...IF it came this year at all. But for that to happen it would mean 2 REALLY BIG things happened:

1) The exclusivity contract did get ammended or one of the parties executed an exit clause
2) The big egos and Verizon and Apple finally came to an agreement

This is why I still won't believe it until I hear an official announcement. The Engadget rumor is nice and all, but its a repeat of the same rumor...nothing new.

I completely disagree. Apple has a history of evolving these events to fit their needs. While there is currently a pattern, it hasn't always been the current pattern so it's realistic to assume something could change again (kind of like all iPhone launched on Friday...until the iP4.)

Most likely not. An AT&T 4G iPhone would need to support LTE and W-CDMA until the 4G network matures. A 4G Verizon iPhone would need to support LTE and CDMA. Unless a chip is released that supports them all (which may also happen)
