It seems like the reporter from the WSJ, Yuri Iwatari Kane, has been a reliable source for "leaked" Apple info. Right now, I would go with the WSJ story about a Verizon Iphone announcement in the fall, as the most "reliable" rumor.

Given that AT&T increased the ETF and moved many customer's upgrade date, I'd say that the day's of AT&T's exclusive on the iPhone are numbered, but again that's just conjecture.
Believe me I HATE to feed the Verizon trolls but it does seem that it could be possible according to a recent article by engadget (recent as in, I checked it on my Twitter this morning). Evidentally a company is making CDMA version of the iPhone. I don't believe this 100% but it's definately something to go check out over at their site.
Again I am not convinced that Verizon will get it.
Really no one knows what Steve Jobs and Apple will do, it could be possible but who knows. As far as their ETF fees, VZ has been charging $350 for the last 2-3 months, so AT&T matched it, and I wouldn't be surprised if VZ tiers their data although they do not have a single product or multiple products that use as much data as the iPhone, however once they do get it, I am sure that will all change.

It makes ZERO sense for Apple to invest in CDMA phones for the US, as Verizon is going to phase out that network in favor of the faster LTE sometime in the next two years.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I read somewhere that the CDMA phones were for the Chinese market...where there's no plans for a next-gen network anytime soon.
Also, you can't do "voice and data" at the same time on CDMA networks, something that Apple and AT&T have based their iPhone ad campaigns around. It'd be tough to backtrack on that if the iPhone goes to Verizon.
My bet? That AT&T's exclusive deal with Apple expires in two years, which should be close to the time that Sprint's 4G and Verizon's LTE network are fully rolled out.
Bottom line - CDMA is a dying technology. And Apple has proven time and time again that they pull the plug on dying technologies (see floppy disc drives, flash, even CD drives).
ATT is giving a lot of extra people an early upgrade option. That could lock a ton of customers into two year contracts, making them less likely to jump later this year.
That exact rumor (naming Pegatron even) has come up numerous times before.
I doubt Apple will be dumb enough to get everyone locked into ATT contracts and then announce a Verizon version soon after. They don't want to get their fanbase upset at them. The year it goes multi carrier in the US, the announcement will be at the same time as the new iPhone, even if the release of the phone on the new carrier(s) isn't the same time as the ATT version.
