Only reason I was hoping for a 64gb version is that the 32gb would of been $100 cheaper. 32gb is plenty for me as i'm only using around 18gb of my 32gb 3gs now

Exactly! This means selling my 32 GB 3GS won't quite cover the cost of an early upgrade to the 32 GB iPhone 4.

Hate to say it, but 32GB max is a deal breaker for me so I am probably going to hold off for now. I am constantly removing games/pictures/songs to stay under 32 GB and I was hoping to see an increase to 64 GB.

Too bad, since the other new features look great

I am right there with you...I have no desire to upgrade a phone if I can't upgrade my HD space. No amount of specs will change that for me.

Is there a way to estimate of space used for many apps, some music, maybe videos? Since there HD video, sure will takes up space. Is 32 gb recommended?

The 3GS model still being sold is 8GB. I find that weird since there wasn't a 3GS 8GB model to begin with.

I'm pretty happy overall for the new features and this 32gb storage is just a minor disappointment. I'm pretty sure this decision was due to the current cost of 64gb flash memory. Yeah, 720p at 30fps videos would have been awesome if we have storage space for it but I guess we'll just have to import our videos to our PC often rather than store it in the phone (I guess less chance of you showing off your HD vids to your friends now, eh?). I have tons of apps and constantly add more quality stuff and 32gb is okay but it'll get filled fast personally. Nevertheless, pretty happy. Thinner, screen pixels, 5mgpx cam with LED flash, and wasn't as expensive as I was scared of.

Definitely a deal breaker for me. I'm almost out of space on my 32GB. With HD recording and higher-res pics, no way 32GB is enough. Time to start the count-down for the next iPhone 2011.

was really hoping for 64 too, that was i could load all of my kid's movies onto it for her entertainment purposes, plus have the extra space for the hd video recording, but i suppose i can just unsync about half of the music i hardly listen to and get the same results. the other features are pretty damn awesome to prevent me from upgrading. might even upgrade before the jailbreak is out!

I was hoping for a 64GB but I can deal with 32GB. It will definitely be an upgrade from the 8GB iPod touch I have now. The highest storage I've had with an iPod is a 30GB iPod 5th gen. and I barley used any space. Of course this has the app store but i'm sure it will be fine.

I knew it. I knew they wouldn't release a 64GB version yet.
It's such a shame that the iPod Touch will probably go up to 128GB.

If they'd released the 64GB iPhone, there is NO DOUBT that I would have gotten it.

I want all of my music with me. The 32GB iPhone is not enough for my library.
My old iPod Video 5.5g 80GB is on it's last legs. The hard drive is slowly dying.
I am so disappointed. I'm not surprised but still very disappointed.

I don't want to buy another iPod....
Or carry an iPod in addition to my phone anymore....
I really wanted to buy a 64GB iPhone.
Curse you Steve Jobs, curse you..:(

32gb is a drag, i really wanted 64gb however with a library of 170gb it's not that it's gonna make that big of a difference.
i think i'll just cry a river, record in hd and send it to someone i'm getting "facetime" with. boohoo. all at the same time thanks to AT&T.....

I guess they are saving 64GB for next year, I mean they are running out of things to improve the iphone after this release so they need to announce something next year :D

Wow. You've got a couple more years to wait until you can carry your whole library with you.

My music library is just shy of 60GB.

I wonder if they'll release a 64GB version in early spring, like the did for the 16Gb Edge on February 5, 2008....

Silly OP, you should know better than to be disappointed in Apple. Dont you knows is better to have 32gb than 64? Everything Steve does is the best and theres no better way to do anything. Noob.
True. I don't think there was a better way to deal with these guys.

I want to know exactly how much storage space, on average, a minute of HD video will take to store on the iPhone. This is the single gauge as to whether or not I get a 16GB or 32GB. I have 4GB free on my 16GB phone now, and could pare that down to 6-7GB free. But if I can only store a half hour in that space, I'll need the 32GB.

Can't introduce too many basic features which are to be expected. I mean, people are jizzing over a front facing camera... something available on other phones.

This is Apple... the slower the better.

64GB was all I really wanted on a new iPhone.

I could care less about the HD screen (eats battery life and the screen is too small to really make a difference), video chat (over WIFI only and only with other iPhone 4 phones), iAd (really? - they are excited about this as a user FEATURE?), iBooks (no content - Kindle app much better), gyroscope (probably works about as well as the compass, which is not at all), etc. The only other welcome thing is the camera flash which everyone else had 10 years ago.

This is primarily a MEDIA devices that STORES stuff. I have 100+ GB of music and 100+ GB of video. I also probably have 5+ GB of apps and now with the possibility of HD video recording, a max limit of 32GB is RIDICULOUS.

Many may not need it but many of us do. For those of us who do - Just CHARGE us more for 64GB, darn it - WE'LL PAY MORE FOR IT!
Everyone wins.

I gotta believe that Apple is holding out ONCE AGAIN because they need a killer feature for the iPhone 2011, and that feature will be "capacity". And Apple, goof luck trying to sell people on upgrading on the new iPod Touch's in Septemember without a capacity increase - most like the camera that was excluded last year is going to be the Touch's "killer" feature (i.e. ho hum).

I honestly think those with a full 32GB iPhone should clean out their itunes...
You know the songs you constantly have to skip and such.
The only reason I see 64GB ever being a necessity is for HD video.

I assume you are like 12 years old, right? Some people actually LISTEN to a LOT of music, not just use it as background filler. If you don't need it then fine, but that doesn't mean that others don't. So why comment at all?

Remember that Apple themselves has had a 160gb iPod available 3 YEARS AGO. So THEY even believe that people need that capacity. Some of us just want to carry around ONE multimedia device, though.

I currently have 8gb on my 3G phone so this will be a HUGE increase. I'm happy with that.

I feel the same way. I ran out of space over the weekend and had to remove the apps that I don't use that much just to free space.
