That and to have a 5/8" separation between the iPhone and your body. That means you shouldn't physically touch the phone without a case offering at least a 5/8" separation.

How do you know it's hardware? Do you work with antennas? Do you code phone firmware for a living? If not, you have nothing to back your worthless opinion up with.

Apple's argument seems pretty straightforward. Just because it doesn't offer a wonderful solution to the problem that doesn't cost $30 doesn't mean it's an invalid argument. They admit that the phone drops reception when holding it in the bottom left corner.
What more do you want? Don't buy the iPhone 4 if you're not willing to pay $30 to improve on a problem that doesn't exist for everybody. Do you not realize the problem with offering free bumpers? There are obviously people who aren't experiencing the problem- so why offer a product for free meant to fix a problem that doesn't exist for everybody? Should Apple fly Genius employees to everybody's locale to watch their bars drop to make sure they ARE experiencing the problems? The fact is that you bought a phone that's meant to be a vast improvement over it's predecessor. If you digress, then use the 3GS (that's catchy, eh?). If the improved display, processor speed, and overall use of the phone is worth the extra $30 for a bumper to make it work more to your liking, then pay the extra $30. If it's not, get a refund and buy the 3GS for a significantly less amount and save money.

your phone works fine...like you said millions of happy users..I bet they are not on a forum bitchin about people bitching about their phone.....enjoy your phone and don't stress out on the others that do have issues.....
I'm really not stressing, at all. As a regular on this now ridiculous forum I just find it offensive that because I have no problem, and because I like the phone, that I am a sheep or a fan boy. When the ridiculous BS of this all is that people like MassiveAttack come in here, slander people, bitch and moan, yet keep the phone.
THAT is a sheep, THAT is idiotic. It's like buying a pair of shoes, complaining they don't fit, but not taking them back for a different shoe or size. Just take it back if you hate it so much or if you hate Apple or their response so much.
So confusing to me. But yeah, I'm sheep because I am using my phone with no problems. Like I would keep an expensive item that didn't work.

That's what I don't get. I mean listen, I bitched a little about this phone on day one, when I had no idea what was going on. I even made a YouTube video about it that has like over 4000 views, which for me seems like a good chunk of people.
Apples response hasn't been great, but I REALLY like this phone. I'm willing to avoid a clearly visible 2 mm seam that in all honesty, I usually don't even touch anyway the way I hold a phone. I was recreating the reception loss by intentionally holding that spot for over 1 minute. That's lame. Now I just use the phone, and I absolutely love it. To me the Iphone UI is just so very polished, the only thing I like on Android better is the Google Nav app, it's badass. I do not like Android phones, the design just is too big and bulky for my tastes. I like the Iphone, because I like it, not because Apple makes it.
So to call me a fanboy is ****ing ridiculous. I made a decision (as an owner of Verizon Droid work phone) that I really do like the Iphone UI and the design of their phone. I am perfectly able to use this phone 100% problem free, I am also aware of it's weakspot. To me, it is a non issue, and as such I have used it problem free since day one.
At this point you know where Apple stands. Things will improve with software, you can believe that or choose not to. However at this stage in the game to KEEP the phone when you have such animosity towards it and the corporation that made it, why the hell do you still have it?
There are SO many options out there, it just doesn't make sense. I am well aware of my options, I choose Iphone 4.

Seriously. Your choices are -
1) wait quietly for a fix and deal with the issues.
2) return the phone for a full refund.
3) whine and bitch about it to everyone who will listen.
I am well aware of the issue. My bars drop like mad when I pick up my phone. I have yet to drop a call which is the most important thing.
