from what I understand is it an Amoled screen that is perfectly visible in direct sunlight

Hey guys.... if you make a portrait touchscreen phone with no keyboard it will look somewhat like an iPhone.

I'm tired of hearing all this "ZOMG THEY COPIED US" stuff... jesus.

That said, looks like a pretty nice phone! :D

I have this phone and totally regretted it.

I just cant connect to my iMac 27" as a mass disc drive, i have no problem connecting it to my Vaio lappy.

Its running on Firmware 2.1-update1 and Kernel version is 2.6.29.

Going back to my old trusty iPhone 3GS and soon 4G =)

Can anybody tell me the advantage of this over the Nexus One, which is already shipping today and will be guaranteed update to 2.2?

The Galaxy S has a much more powerful GPU than the Nexus One, has a bigger screen that is visible in bright lighting conditions and is thinner.

How would the more powerful GPU contribute to the overall user experience? So far, it seems like 2.2 gives a much better improvements overall than better hardware spec, and who knows if Samsung even care in updating this phone. Considering the Nexus One's spec is quite more than capable (and it's already shipping), I would think having a guaranteed OS updates would be a better value in choosing an Android phone than some theoretically better hardware.

T-mobile/Galaxy S or ATT/iphone 4

With t mobile now and was thinking of getting the Galaxy S in July. Or should I switch to ATT?

Im with TMobile and am switching to AT&T for the IPhone 4. You need to do what works best for you. You're the only one that can make that call.

The Galaxy S has a really nice screen, but Samsung's UI skin on Android is derivative and substandard (you're better off just getting vanilla android). It really depends on your needs and budget though.

The Galaxy S is going to be everywhere soon. There are 4 different models on each carrier (Captivate - AT&T, Fascinate - Verizon, Epic 4G - Sprint, Vibrant - T-Mobile).

iPhone 4 or Samsung Galaxy S

I'm a current T-Mobile user with an iPhone 3G, and on the 21st T-Mobile wil be releasing the Galaxy S on their network. I've been meaning to wait for an unlock to the iPhone 4, but I'm thinking to switching to the Galaxy S. The main reason being that I'm tired of using edge speeds. Whats a better option, iPhone 4 with edge, or Galaxy S with Tmobile 3G?

If you're definitely sticking with T-Mobile, I'd recommend the Galaxy S for 3G speeds. The iPhone 4 will still be only EDGE, and the Galaxy S is a VERY nice phone.

Samsung has a poor reputation for post-release software and firmware support. That doesn't mean they won't support the Galaxy, but it is a factor to consider.

They've already released a statement saying that they're updating the Galaxy S to Froyo. Also, this is going to be such a popular phone that the hacker community will provide whatever Samsung doesn't.

Probably so. Wonder why no release date on the verizon version yet?
