Probably so. Wonder why no release date on the verizon version yet?

I'm not sure, but just the fact that they've hit all 4 major carriers is such a huge deal. I don't think any smartphone has succeeded in doing that in the past. Hopefully it'll be out on all carriers relatively soon.

I'm a current T-Mobile user with an iPhone 3G, and on the 21st T-Mobile wil be releasing the Galaxy S on their network. I've been meaning to wait for an unlock to the iPhone 4, but I'm thinking to switching to the Galaxy S. The main reason being that I'm tired of using edge speeds. Whats a better option, iPhone 4 with edge, or Galaxy S with Tmobile 3G?

As much as I love the iPhone, I would definitely go with the Galaxy in order to have 3G. I wouldn't be able to live on EDGE as long as I know 3G is out there.

They've already released a statement saying that they're updating the Galaxy S to Froyo. Also, this is going to be such a popular phone that the hacker community will provide whatever Samsung doesn't.

Samsung also issued that statement about other phones being updated to android 2.1 but then they only updated those phones to 1.6

I think you're much better off with the Galaxy S on 3G speed rather than using the iPhone on Edge.

From what I've read, T-Mobile's new HSPA+ is blazing fast.

iPhone 4 has T-mo 3G network chip, so when unlocked you will get t-mo 3G on both devices

no, iPhone 4 supports only 1 out of the 2 frequencies needed for T-Mobile 3G, same as all the other iPhones. you will be limited to EDGE if you use it with T-Mobile.

When people say they had a Samsung phone, do they mean a dumb phone?

I had both the Samsung i730 and i760 and both were good smartphones.

The i730 from 2004 was ahead of its time, with a 520Mhz (overclockable to 700Mhz) Bulverde CPU, stereo speakers with surround sound, voice control, silky smooth vertical slider keyboard, etc.

Verizon and Samsung even upgraded it later from Windows Mobile 2003 to WM5, a huge leap.

The Galaxy S is pretty sweet. I've been thinking about switching over to it but I'm not sure if I like the version coming to AT&T (Captivate)

Probably it will be the last update. I was told Samsung would discontinue Galaxy S and was going to launch Galaxy Q(Code name M140X) on this November. Samsung has a poor reputation for support of old models once they launch a new model.

That new Mytouch is pretty damn nice. Think id get that if your not sticking with iPhone. The Galaxy looks real nice too and is thinner but id make sure it has Android 2.2 in it before id buy it or any other Android phone,....... 2.2 just got released and it is supposed to be a lot faster than 2.1.

Galaxy S because your going to get 3G. Honestly any smartphone except RIM is worthless without 3G.

Ive used my moms mytouch slide, and she averages 5-6 mbps, a huge difference from the 80 or so kb I get on my iPhone 3G.

The Galaxy S has been very successful outside of the USA. In fact it's such a great phone that it's being released by each of the Big 4 carriers here in the next 90 days. I know I'm planning to buy one. The three Android phones I've had to date, have proven the advantages of the OS. Finally, I'm going to enjoy the superb 4" display.

Wow, thats faster then i get on wifi on my iPhone at home. I played with a MyTouch at a t-Mobile store and it didnt seem that fast. Before i switch over i wanted to see what kind of Apps it had from the Android store.
I know Apple has many more but 95% of them i dont care about so i wanted to see if Android had the ones that i use. Of course a jailbreak would be sweet too :D

I was also uncertain about the style until I saw one in person. They did a great job. It's much better looking than the pictures lead one to believe. The one I looked at was a pre-production prototype. I imagine the finished product will be even nicer.

You guys the iPhone 4 has t mobile 3G band built in ( it's one of the first phones with all 4 bands ), once it is unlocked it will work on the USA tmobile3g!

It looks like a counterfeit of iPhone 3G with antenna issues.

Wow...

im sorry are you talking about the iPhone 4.. haha fail...

plus android is actually right up there with ios4.. everyone has an iphone now.. its not the cool thing anymore.. its waning off and plus with these antenna im jumping ship.. the euro version works with att 3g too, has front facing camera.. unlimited data if you come from an iphone and also has tethering for free.. nothing better than that.. android is soo much more open.. swype is really cool.. and actually is faster once you get used to it. plus they update android 4x faster than iphone os.. more updates, better jailbreaks(cyanogen) faster os, plus widgets are so useful.. i went from iphone to iphone 3g to nexus one then to iphone 4 and i miss android and ive only used it for 2 months.. its soo much nicer than iphones boring locked os.. the biggest PLUS is the amazingly Vibrant 4 INCH SCREEN.. > retina display

Have fun with it then. By the way, no will know or care what a galaxy s is in 2 months. Everyone knows what an iPhone is. 1.7 MILLION sold in 3 days, yeah it's deffinatly waning. Samsung would be ecstatic to sell that many in the entire life span of the phone. Retina display> 4 inch power gulping pocket monster.

I've owned a few Samsung phones in my time and while it may not be the new Samsung iPhone 3g Clone....err I mean Samsung Galaxy S, I wouldn't buy one just on principle.

ive used android, ive owned the g1 and nexus 1, all of those things are true, but apple iOS does the little things that makes it much better, smoother scrolling, stability, or just small things we dont notice

i dont think android will ever take over apple, however it doesnt mean that android has to take over apple to succeed though. Look how many iOS devices there are out there, iPad iPod touch iPhones, developers will most likely always choose Apple because of this.

If you have actually used an android OS, many apps crash and even when they dont, they dont work as well.

If android were to ever make an iPhone killer, it definitely wont be coming from Samsung, the Galaxy S looks so cheap and a chinese knockoff OS of the iPhone
