My problem with this system is that before they said delivery "by" June 19. Now this means that you will have it before June 19th. There is a world of difference in those two words. If I have it tomorrow, then I can go to the AT&T store early on the 19th and get it activated. I figure I'll have to do that as I'm changing carriers.

Now if I get it "on" June 19th, hopefully around 10:30 to 12:00 I'll be way back in line by the time I get to the AT&T store. I'm having the phone shipped to where I work for safety reasons, and I scheduled a day off so I could get to the store early. Now I'll have to go to work and wait until it is delivered (whenever that may be, as normal UPS does not deliver there until after 2:00 PM) then drive about 25 miles to the store. It really puts a crimp in my schedule.

Since the phone cannot be used until it is activated there is no rhyme or reason for this hold up, actually they are making things harder all the way around as now they have to get all deliveries done in a short amount of time which seems to me to be impossible. The system looks like it is going to breakdown seriously, and a lot of people are going to be very unhappy. :(

Dude. I understand the emotion, but this is getting like pharmaceutical. iPhone 3G S is launched on June 19th. June 19th is the soonest anyone should expect to get it.

ups tells me the 18th....no exceptions on my tracking #. :) dare to dream...

It's gotten to the point where I am disappointed with every new email I receive that is not a tracking number from Apple. :)

June 8 / Prepared to Ship

Well after seeing that Covington KY is right outside Cincinnati, OH, I'd bet dollars to donuts that you were correct (hub in OH) and he is wrong.

ALSO, I just went to http://www.ups.com/dropoff and put in Covington, KY, unchecked everything except Service Centers (hubs), and the closest one is in Cinci:

UPS CUSTOMER CENTER
STAFFED LOCATION
640 W 3RD ST
CINCINNATI, OH 45202
800-742-5877
1.2 Miles

No. The label still wouldn't show OH. I've had literally hundreds of packages delivered and although most go through Cincinnati, OH (closest hub) the address always shows correct. If anything deliberate I'm wondering if it's do to the delivery hold until the 19th and possibly designating that it will be held in OH. Pure speculation and sounds sort of silly to me, but who the heck knows?

i hope you know its suppose to be UPS

Fedex for me. I ordered in-store from AT&T, and it is leaving Fort Worth, TX sometime tonight, due to arrive in my local AT&T store by 3pm tomorrow.

So either I wait patiently until 7am Friday morning, or stage a sit-in from 3pm until close, right on the customer service counter, indian-style :D

What's the first thing you are all going to do when the UPS guy rings your doorbell on Friday and you sign for your iPhone? Take it out of the box and look at it for a few hours before opening? Rip through the packaging and start playing with it? Apply a screen protector before turning it on???

screen protector then otterbox...then i turn it on haha

Our world doesn't revolve around your late iPhone.

it most certainly DOES! or at least it revolves around MINE!

I plan on putting a screen shield on it. I've never owned a nice phone (BJII, my current phone, is not a nice phone btw) and I don't want to ruin it. Then I'll activate it unless apple or AT&T screws up again.

thats weerd. i also ordered in store from at&t and mine should arrive locally in san diego by tomorrow as well but i have a UPS tracking number. throughout this whole forum i thought everyone (apple/at&t) was on UPS. oh well.

I think that Apple is going to screw this all up. There are probably going to be about i'd say 500,000-1,000,000 iPhone 3GS' in the KY sort facility by tomorrow. Each one individually packaged. The sort facility can process 300,000 per hour so that won't take too long, but it will take up their entire system, something is bound to go wrong. With such a buildup of packages and then having to sort them and ship them via next day air I bet some people get screwed. UPS is bound to have some issues. Shame on Apple, they should have just let us have our iPhones early... but that's just too much to ask. Things need to be made difficult.

which is exactly why i've been so nervous about the whole hold in kentucky thing! at least let them get to our delivery facility! THEN i'll be ok with a hold.... but ya... SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much can go wrong with it all the way in KY!

Odd, I am in Harrisburg, PA. I have seen UPS dominate the forum too.

Anyone else have a FEDEX tracking number? I can't possibly be the only one.

1. Take it out of the packaging
2. Take it out of the iPhone box
3. Place it down on the cloth
4. Read the instructions on camera
5. Test the video camera
6. Take a video with it
7. Post that video to youtube on my iPhone
8. Take a picture of it
9. Put that picture on my website
10. Put it down and go do something else

(JK about number 10)

10. Go read some forums about it
11. Probably show it off to my friend who always says how he has everything before I do
12. Shart in his face

There's an automated message on the 1-800-MY-APPLE number, saying that all pre-orders before today will be shipped for delivery on June 19th. So no worries, I'm in the same boat.

Haha me 2

I set my mailbox to only show me Apple emails.

I've gotten 3 in the last 2 days.

2 of them were order confirmations

the other was an iPhone 3GS Ad

FIRST: i'm gonna squeal like a gurl when he shows up at my office door!!!!!!!

if it were my old UPS driver... i'd actually hug him.... this new dude... nah... he's not as nice!

then i think i'll take a picture of the box..... then open it.... oh wait... i have to call hubby to tell them they've arrived at some point?????

i'll probably turn it on... but not remove the plastic screen covering til i'm ready to put the screen protector on!

i can't activate til i go home.... so i need some excuse to leave work (other than "i got a new iphone... not sure they'll care... they aren't that tech savvy!)
