Delivery

iPhones are just another box in the Kentucky hub and tonight or tomorrow UPS will handle those boxes as the bar coding indicates. The boxes will load on airplanes heading in a variety of directions to cities where trucks will pick them up and take to local UPS facitilies. From there they will be checked in, sorted, placed on a vehicle and your status on Friday AM will show "Out For Delivery." No big thing for UPS (or FedEx) to handle a bunch of boxes... that is what they do best.

Relax... everything will be alright...:cool::D:apple:

My problem with this system is that before they said delivery "by" June 19. Now this means that you will have it before June 19th. There is a world of difference in those two words. If I have it tomorrow, then I can go to the AT&T store early on the 19th and get it activated. I figure I'll have to do that as I'm changing carriers.

Now if I get it "on" June 19th, hopefully around 10:30 to 12:00 I'll be way back in line by the time I get to the AT&T store. I'm having the phone shipped to where I work for safety reasons, and I scheduled a day off so I could get to the store early. Now I'll have to go to work and wait until it is delivered (whenever that may be, as normal UPS does not deliver there until after 2:00 PM) then drive about 25 miles to the store. It really puts a crimp in my schedule.

Since the phone cannot be used until it is activated there is no rhyme or reason for this hold up, actually they are making things harder all the way around as now they have to get all deliveries done in a short amount of time which seems to me to be impossible. The system looks like it is going to breakdown seriously, and a lot of people are going to be very unhappy. :(

Uhh, buddy, you activate it yourself through iTunes v8.2 or later.
;)

Geez, have some faith, UPS isn't exactly new to the shipping game, they've done this sort of thing before.

Guys I think there might be a problem with my package. I live in Covington, KY. But I just noticed it says it is being shipped to Covington, OH. I called ups, and they have the correct zip code and address but wrong state. my order status on apple shows the correct state, KY. AH dios mio.

Someone else suggested that it's because the UPS hub for some KY addresses is in OH.

Same exact problem for me except for the city. Funny thing about mine is that it's supposed to be Olive Branch, MS. But it says Olive Branch, TN. There's no such town in Tennessee.

It should not really matter as long as they have the right zip code.

My shipping is off hold and now says arival on the 17th. I'm guessing it's on its way out tonight and arrival on Friday. (I hope) Who knows maybe we'll get it one day early. :)

I was the one that said that. but after calling ups, the guy said that the shipping label shows covington, oh, which could be a problem. i asked if it could be because it would go through an ohio hub but he said no.

well

Well after seeing that Covington KY is right outside Cincinnati, OH, I'd bet dollars to donuts that you were correct (hub in OH) and he is wrong.

ALSO, I just went to http://www.ups.com/dropoff and put in Covington, KY, unchecked everything except Service Centers (hubs), and the closest one is in Cinci:

I live in KY and it shows the same thing. Mine is supposed to be delivered to Covington, KY, but it shows OH. I checked the order status, and address shown is correct; it probably shows that bc it will go from louisville to the cincinnati OH hub, then delivered to here in alexandria and covington

I thought about that, but I've never seen it before. And believe me, my tech junkie hobby has had lots of these types of deliveries come my way over the years! Oh well, I'm curious to see the status once it leaves Anchorage. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Am I nuts?!?!

I got my iPhone 3G several months ago... avoiding all the hype and chaos that came with its June launch.

This year I pre-ordered a 3G S and prepared to sell my 3G to cover the cost.

Now, I have been refreshing this thread all day, reading the reviews on Engadget and Gizmodo, and entering my tracking number endlessly into the Fedex website.

It has gotten hold of me and I fear there is no going back. My iPhone obsession now rivals my Macbook Pro obsession!

Thanks for this great addiction support group :)
