iphones are born.I ordered my 32 GB black iPhone at a Corp AT&T store on June 9 and my order still says "In Process" with no tracking number. There no logic to all this really. It probably depends on a lot of things combined - the particular store, the particular model, when you ordered, etc. (well, probably just those three things 
).

UPDATE:
My status has now changed from "In Progress" to "Shipped" and the "Qty Shipped" field now has 1 in it instead of zero... BUT, the tracking number still does not register anything on the UPS website.
Your iPhone hasn't actually shipped yet... mine shows the same thing... "Shipped" the 12th.. that is actually the date their system assigned a tracking number to the package, but if you look further to the right on that page, there is still a ZERO in the "Qty Shipped" field... the photo at your above link also has a ZERO in that field just as mine does. UPS doesn't recognize my tracking number... because they haven't received the package from AT&T yet.

Hmm, wait in line for hours to maybe get a phone at the Apple store
or, wait in line at tha AT&T store and have to deal with customer service after the monkeys screw up my account/activation again
or, have it delivered to my doorstep no hassle.

On a lighter note, my phone has not shipped yet, still "prepared to ship" I ordered around 6 AM CST on the 10th. Still delivered by the 19th from apple.com.
i wouldnt go by anything that att says, i dont know about anyone else but last year ATT tracking was worthless...my status fluctuated hourly when i ordered my 3g, and when the store called to say it came in it still never said delivered or arrived.
i was very happy this year when orders were available through apple.com this year, lets see how they do....

My order still says "Has not shipped" but i have noticed that they changed my shipping method from "standard shipping" to "priority".
This happened to me as well. I ordered June 8th at 8:00pm PDT. If it doesn't ship tonight I am expecting it to tomorrow.
Im beginning to think this is just something to not worry about. I called ATT, the rep was very cool. He checked with the phone number porting people (Im porting my number from another carrier w/ my iphone purchase) and they said my number is all set to go. He couldnt find anything wrong with my order, couldnt give me much info about it other than what I can already see on their site. He said this is common though, and he didnt have any doubts I'd have my phone on the 19th. We'll see.
My guess is that their systems are just behind with current shipping information, I can't imagine shipping 100s of thousands of iphones is an easy thing.... its more important that they actually get them out the door than it is updating order status real time IMO..... hopefully thats whats happening.

I've read through a lot of stuff here but theres just to much... from what I'm seeing people are getting tracking numbers from ATT if they ordered it to be delivered/picked up at a store.
On that note, has anyone who ordered online from ATT (shipping to their home/office) gotten a tracking number? I think just store folks, not sure. I ordered on the 9th so not worried but just for us who still have in progress going, no worries =D!

I am another Premier customer. I am a new customer switching from T-Mobile. Ordered 3G S 16GB black at 12pm on June 10th. No tracking info as of right now. My order status on the normal ATT site says QTY backorered is 1. Interestingly, it also says I placed my order June 11th, which is not correct.
If the phones are coming from China, why would it matter who you ordered from (Apple, ATT or ATT Premier)? They have no logistical reason to break the phones into three chunks (one for Apple, one for ATT, one for ATT Premier, not to mention all the stores) and then break those down and ship each individual phone to customers. I bet all phones be arriving on Friday, as long as you got your order in by the 13th. Perhaps the ATT Premier people just suck at updating their system?

My 32GB Black iPhone order from Apple on-line store still listing as "Prepared for Shipment" I ordered it late Friday evening. I'm upgrading an existing line with a 1st Gen iPhone on it. My second line has an iPhone 3G on it. I noticed this afternoon that the upgrade fee has been applied to the line I'm upgrading. I also noticed that the line with the 3G iPhone has changed the name of the data plan from something like "Data Plan for iPhone 3G", to just "Data Plan for iPhone".

Okay, so I'm finally ready to switch from Verizon to AT&T for the iPhone 3G S. (Verified with Verizon rep that I have no outstanding contracts or anything.) I will try AT&T for two years, and if I don't like them, right around that time (June 2011) is when I expect Verizon to get the iPhone as well, so I can switch back.
So, question is: what do I do now to have the best shot at getting my new iPhone on Friday?

From what I've heard, Option 2 is not a good idea as AT&T is now placing new orders on backorder. And I figure Option 4 would be the same as that. So that leaves Option 1 as what I'm leaning towards now, what do you think?

I should have never ordered from an AT&T store. I went there Saturday the 13th to preorder and was told about the 7-14 days. He said it would be that way anywhere I ordered it. I shouldn't have listened to him. So I preordered through AT&T. After hearing about Apple still guaranteeing delivery on the 19th, I tried to cancel my order through AT&T. Was told numerous times by numerous AT&T people, I couldn't until the phone arrived in the store. So now I'm stuck waiting.
Did anyone else order on or after the 13th? I'm hoping they are faster than they say, but I doubt it. Sucks.

Mine says the same....i ordered june 8....3:49pm central time....right when the Apple store came back live.....
