I ordered thru at&t premier website and with the possibility of a few days delay, do you think I can buy one at the apple store without cancelling the order from at&t? If I keep both phones, any way they can track it and charge me later for it??
I assume CA has 9% sales tax. If so then CA is taxing you on the unsubsidized price (read the full 699). Otherwise dang CA's sales tax is a whopping 21%.
don't even get me started on that again! i was p!ssed when i saw that.... freakin' lousy state!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that's $120 in tax for us.....

I am surprised that is even legal. I guess Apple/AT&T are just passing on the full tax to you versus absorbing some of it. Or CA really has some odd rules. Are other phones taxed the same way?

Are non-California upgraders taxed only on their iPhone 3GS's upgrade price?
Probably odd rules. The tax shows like 21.3% I think so it shows the tax on the whole $699 of the device.
Has anyone who ordered their phone from Apple immediately after the online store re-opened on the 8th had their phone shipped yet?
I am beginning to suspect that Apple screwed up the orders for some of the people who were the first to order on June 8.
I ordered a Black 16GB 3GS on June 8 at 12:48 PDT....and my order status still says Ships: June 19; Delivers June 22.... even though I received the email from Apple saying that everyone was going to get the iPhone on the 19th no matter what.
Note that I initially chose overnight shipping out of confusion...however, when I called Apple and spoke to a rep, she suggested I keep it (this was before the email came out that was sent to everyone)...and waived the fee for it. But I have read that people with overnight shipping have had their phones shipped...so I dont think thats the reason.
So why are people who ordered the exact same phone yesterday having theirs shipped immediately? While people like me, who were the first to order, have their order status say that they will receive it on June 22, 23 or 24? Apple must have screwed up our orders and even though they sent out that email, I am beginning to wonder if we are going to see our phones on Friday like they promised. I hope I am wrong, its not the end of the world if I dont get the phone on Friday, but I hate being promised one thing and then have another thing happen. If it turns out that some of us arent going to get our phones on the 19th - and Apple knew this all along - they should have been upfront. I would have cancelled my order and gone to Wal Mart and bought one there instead.
Anyway Apple doesnt care one way or the other. They have us by the short hairs and they know it. What are we going to do - cancel our orders and buy a Pre instead because of their shipping/ordering problems?
Next time they should ship them out in the order the orders were made.....there is absolutely no reason to ship the first orders last. And Apple should have an informed representative on this board addressing these questions too. Instead of their ill-informed telephone customer service reps contributing to rumors. Wouldnt you think that Apple would brief their telephone reps as to when the phones were going to definitely ship out and arrive? As it is, you call twice and get a different answer from each rep.

you must be talking about kids like the one below, and here people are freaking out because there's a 5% chance their phone will be 3 days later than promised, wow -- just wow.

My Apple order says "Prepared for Shipment" it said "Not yet Shipped" on Saturday. According to the Apple site prepared for shipment means that it is boxed and waiting to be scanned for shipment. When it said "not yet shipped" the site would allow me to cancel, change, or add to my order, now it is all locked in. This makes me hopeful that there is an iPhone already with my name on it just waiting to be shipped. I ordered mine on the morning of June 12th

. And I pre-ordered on the 13th. I know I won't be getting my phone Friday. But I just recently found out that UPS doesn't deliver on Saturday, and I will have to wait until at least Monday. So I want to re-pre-order with Best Buy who STILL guarantees delivery on the 19th.Good evening,

Me too, ordered Monday afternoon (June 8). What does your Order Status say? Mine still says Ships: June 19; Delivers June 22.

I AM JUST GOING TO POST IN ALL CAPS UNTIL FRIDAY WHEN THIS IS OVER. THE APPLE WEBSITE STILL SAYS "DELIVERED BY JUNE 19TH." WHY IS EVERYONE FREAKING OUT AND CANCELING ORDERS AND ACTING ABSOLUTELY CRAZY?
