Question for people who preordered from AT&T Store

Hey guys.. Anyone who preordered from an AT&T store.. got a question.

I had my iPhone along with a line for "Freight" in my tracking..

Now it just shows "Freight" but a tracking number as well..

anyone else getting this for people who preordered in the AT&T store ? The below image is all I see on the order

But...

If you see it at your local UPS facility, and they have the service where you can go pick stuff up. They sometime don't look at the Hold Until date, and will hand the goods over ( With proper ID of course )

1. In tracking previous Apple shipments, I know that FedEX Apple shipments have gone from Shenzhen to Anchorage and then back to the US.
2. I've also seen a crazy move like back to Shenzhen again and illogical origin and departure times, both of which UPS told me to ignore.
3. But this is the first time that I've tracked UPS from China. Someone earlier suggested that the Hong Kong flight may go directly to Louisville, which sounds reasonable.
4. I've also seen UPS deliveries for Amazon (Harry Potter books) delivered with a big "Hold for delivery on mm/dd" on the UPS label and I read that they were held by UPS locally until that (availability) date.
5. My conclusion is that these early iPhones may arrive locally tomorrow or Thursday, but they won't be delivered until Friday. (I can't imagine Apple allowing delivery until the stores open.) Sorry, I want mine tomorrow, too, and I'll keeping monitoring this thread and hoping I'm wrong.

There is no logical reason for a package that has a hold on it to show up in the system as in transit on time for 6/18. If there was a hold it is smart enough to show 6/19.

Help

My just say prepeared for shipment from apple.com. So when will i get a tracking number?

No it will probably get to the hub nearest you and have rescheduled times then after it scans in to your closest hub.

Wouldn't it be better for everyone if the orders arrived staggered instead of all on Friday? With all the activation issues in the past, I think it'd be foolish to hold delivery till Friday.

same here...but mine gives tracking info...but nothing shipped. hmm...must be patient i guess.

Once it actually ships, the status will change to "Shipped" and a tracking number will appear. Mine went to prepared for shipment during the weekend and did not ship until today, but that time will vary.

Hold for delivery

If the labels where printed with a hold for delivery wouldn't the label scans in the system reflect that.

I don't think so. I think each location was told to hold locally. This was for a Harry Potter book delivery where every pre-order was promised to get the book by noon on a specific Saturday. The book came from UPS, but it was delivered by a contractor in a truck that was definitely not UPS. So I think UPS could be offering to do something like this for Apple. Or, hopefully, Apple really meant by the 19th!

anyone know how it it take before we get a tracking number? I order from apple.com and just update to ready to ship.

Mine is coming no later than the 18th. Yours will probably come on the 22nd or later for doubting UPS.

I think there is a really good chance these will arrive early. Direct Apple orders said "deliver BY June 19th" not "on". I think Apple just wanted to protect itself but knew it could deliver early...and UPS shows no holds. But AT&T is holding firm on the 6/19 release it seems.

UPS dreading all phones delivered on 6/19 = USPS dreading Phone Book delivery day. lol

True. And it would seem the process of holding would be much more complicated than allowing them to be released to avoid the mass activation.
