I love this thread. We are experts here. We are tracking UPS Flights and arrival times, online watching them fly in. Talking to ATT and Apple asking for input. We are all great detectives.

The Apple 3GS $299
Internet connection to Check Status of order $35.00
Loss of productivity watching and adding to tracking number thread...Priceless

has anyone from the east coast that ordered from apple received a tracking number?

Yes:

Summary for everybody:

Some people that ordered on the West Coast received a tracking number. Some on the East received a tracking number.

All of the ones that are currently trackable are coming from China.

It doesn't matter if you ordered a 16GB/32GB/Black/White. It (what it seems) is completely random.

People from AT&T, some received shipment notifications, other did not.

Some people from Apple said they didn't get past the "Prepared for Shipment" part.

So, for now, it's completely random as to who's iPhone's are on that plane from China.

Mine just went "Prepared for Shipment". I ordered on June 10th.

No tracking number yet, still says it will be delivered on June 19th.

haha...nice. I have been tracking while at work.....all day.

Is there anyone who pre-ordered through an AT&T Store able to use the tracking number from the order status site at UPS.com to track their iPhone? I tried entering mine but I get the message "UPS could not locate the shipment details for your request. Please verify your information and try again later." The tracking number showed up a couple of days ago, but I still can't track it.

Looks like ship to store orders are tracking yet. I just got my number this morning, so might not have been scanned/uploaded yet.

I wonder when mine will get here.

Ordered a 32 gig Black 3GS on 6/9/09.

Lists as..
Apple IPN 32GB S 3G BLK PHONE.........................In Progress
Various SIM....................................................In Progress
FREIGHT........................................................In Progress

1 ordered, 1 Back-ordered (says the page)

That's worrisome. I ordered a 32Gs on 9/9 from AT&T and I'm still "in processing." That's better than being backordered, but I don't understand how much more recent orders seem to be on their way and early orders are just sitting there.

Le sigh. I wish I could have ordered from Apple, but every time I tried to do that I got an error from their system. This is what I get for having to deal with AT&T, I guess.

Looks like I get mine a day early wahooo

Tracking Detail | Help

Your package is on time with a scheduled delivery date of 06/18/2009.

Tracking Number:
Type: Package
Status: In Transit - On Time
Your shipment is moving within the UPS network and should be delivered on the Scheduled Delivery Date. A shipment can remain in this status until it is delivered. Other than time-definite air deliveries, shipments are generally delivered anytime between the hours of 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. to residences, and by close of business for commercial addresses. UPS cannot schedule a specific delivery time within that window.

What should I do if I'm expecting a delivery?
This is the most up-to-date information about the status of your shipment. For residential deliveries that require a signature, you can leave instructions for the driver if no one will be home. For example, you can ask that it be delivered to a neighbor who will be home. Shipments that don't require a signature can be left in a safe place at the driver's discretion.

weird how it is random, i work for major companies and did airshipments from china all the time and nothing was ever random... i ordered a few hours after keynote and mine just went to prepared... come on apple update update :)

What did you order? I'd suggest trying to buy a phone through Apple to see if it still shows the discount and if so then call the Premier number: 866-499-8008 and cancel. I used this number to cancel my Premier order after doing an in-store order on Friday.

I ordered a 32 GB one, i will try to cancel the order and order thru Apple, but if i order thru Premier i believe the activation fee is waived. Let me try cancelling the Premier order, thankz

Early shipments have already arrived in Brazil(according to the main page of this site). Demos are already popping up on YouTube. I guess all of the 17th haters should bow down.

"Apple would never let it out early" - the haters screamed

Once again, UPS has all the power!

Same here, no change from AT&T.

Your right. I have been worried about it for a while. Especially since I am leaving to go to the other side of the US for 2 weeks in 3 weeks.

Here is a photo of it (Edited to remove stuff (order number and such) and blank space).

That time is based on UTC and so you have to add +8 hr from UTC to get to correct time for HK.

Dave

These times are local. There is no way a flight leaves Hong Kong at 7:26PM and arrives at 12:54PM the same day if both time zones are UTC. Its a 568 minute (9 1/2 hr) flight that departs at 7:26 hong kong time UTC+6 and arrives in ANC at 12:54 UTC - 8 Alaska time. Thats 7.5+9.5 - 8 + 6 = 13 or 1PM. So Thats 5 ET, 2 PT.

Yeah, I don’t understand that either, I ordered on the 9th about 3 hours after they opened the online site up for pre-orders. So theoretically I should be one of the first in line and one of the first receiving a tracking number. Hopefully, we’ll all get them on Friday!

You may still be able to get a credit after the fact if you call up the service number. When I did my Premier web order, they didn't waive the $18 fee, but I'm still going to see if they'll do it in-store on Friday.

i did preorder in-store from at&t but with no official email or phone call yet. however, the status for my orders have gone from in-progress to shipped. my tracking numbers also dont work yet. i wouldnt really worry, i have a good feeling we will get ours on the 19th. i am going to call the local at&t rep though to see if they know more than we do.. *fingers-crossed!*

so i posted this earlier, called the lady who helped me pre-order my iphones at the local at&t store and she was pretty confident that anybody who ordered from at&t before june 13th would get their phones friday. she said they had received an email about this. now i am fairly confident that getting in line at 6am on friday will be worth it. but still.. *fingers crossed!*

Wheres my phone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

UGHHH!!!!!

Where is my FN phone ATT?????????????????????????????

Early delivery? I bet not.

1. In tracking previous Apple shipments, I know that FedEX Apple shipments have gone from Shenzhen to Anchorage and then back to the US.
2. I've also seen a crazy move like back to Shenzhen again and illogical origin and departure times, both of which UPS told me to ignore.
3. But this is the first time that I've tracked UPS from China. Someone earlier suggested that the Hong Kong flight may go directly to Louisville, which sounds reasonable.
4. I've also seen UPS deliveries for Amazon (Harry Potter books) delivered with a big "Hold for delivery on mm/dd" on the UPS label and I read that they were held by UPS locally until that (availability) date.
5. My conclusion is that these early iPhones may arrive locally tomorrow or Thursday, but they won't be delivered until Friday. (I can't imagine Apple allowing delivery until the stores open.) Sorry, I want mine tomorrow, too, and I'll keeping monitoring this thread and hoping I'm wrong.

If the labels where printed with a hold for delivery wouldn't the label scans in the system reflect that.

WOO HOOO! It's about freakin' time! This just now updated. I ordered from Apple yesterday morning for home delivery. Ok, I'll rest easy now. :apple:
