These things are not just a privacy nightmare but will be impossible to police whilst driving. In the end you’re paying for a device that is more expensive and less convenient than an Apple Watch. Sure the HUD is neat but it’s still faster and more convenient to just get your phone out.
But it's not faster or more convenient to get your phone out while you're driving!

Massive L for Apple. This is the Apple Glass they need.
Can you even imagine the potential of this actually working with Apple’s ecosystems and iPhone apps projected onto it.

Apple releasing this product would be an instant buy.

Not so much with Meta
  • I do not trust them keeping my data (what I see and hear) private
  • Included apps do not work with the ecosystem of apps I use (I do not use Spotify, Instagram, Facebook, or WhatsApp)

Glassholes are back! All hail the surveilance state!
Unfortunately depending where one lives that is already a reality.

When the tech gets better and battery life increases watch things like this become second nature, like people walking around with AirPods.

A parallel comparison would be the sentry mode in teslas, they have been life savers to owners in determining liability in accidents. In accidents, altercations, slander etc, no long what a person says matters when there is a high res recording of the event. Maybe it will force people to change negative behavior to something more civilized but that is being optimistic.

If you watch the keynote, it was a horrendous failure on every front. It failed to do a video call and to provide a simple recipe with instructions. The demos were unilateral failures. It’s heavy af and the battery life is on par with aging AirPods.

I was bewildered they invested billions on this garbage and just stunned at how robotic and lifeless the AI voice is. It’s straight from 2006 😂

3K video, 30 fps, 122 degree view, image stabilization in a pair of glasses. Loius CK was right. We tend to lose focus on how incredible things are (in this case the camera/chip mfg not Meta). Anyway... If they can add a screen to the Oakleys even at a higher dollar amount, cyclists/snowboarders/athletes will lose their minds (and lots of $$$ from their wallets). Do not like Meta, but gotta give them credit for this. Next gen with the wrist-wrap (soon to be a watch) might be killer. Tim take note on how to risk money vs. stock buybacks.

As a cyclist i can say, that cockpit-mounted cycling computer is more than enough. It's not a snowboard, it does not move.
So with your phone you can take a video of what you are looking at with your ride stats overlaid on top ?? If you are grinding away leaning over the "cockpit" straining/standing on the pedals you can comfortably view your power output & heart rate ?? As another cyclist I will be moving away from the phone, likely with the next gen Meta Oakleys (assumes they add the display and some other connections). BTW: Meta needs to buy Garmin.

I’m curious, do people actually notice or get notified when those smart glasses are snapping a photo? The whole concept of a camera staring me down 24/7 without warning gives me serious privacy chills. Feels like we’re one step away from a Black Mirror episode where everyone’s a secret shutterbug.

I’d assume there’s a light on the glasses. Indicates recording or whatnot.
