Looks like Apple's opt out option of App tracking is forcing Meta to make up revenue elsewhere. So Apple, it's OK for your actions to negatively affect the revenue stream of another company, but when it comes to companies charging directly from their App is not OK because it would cut your revenue stream?

It’s not that easy. There would need to be a majority vote from the panel board, which after all the faults Facebook has had over the years, seemingly has never even been close to putting him out of commission.

it’s like with Musk, so much money has been invested into them, that despite their characters businesses know they have got to make them work to get their money back with profits. But Musk is an angel compared to Zuckerberg.

Never gonna happen.

Facebook has a dual-class voting structure.

Individual and institutional investors have Class A shares, where one share equals one vote. Zuckerberg has 75 percent of the Class B shares, where one share equals 10 votes, giving him control of 58 percent of Facebook’s vote.

Personally I don't think anyone should be able to make any money on the "web" - least of all big corporations. It should be free as that is a fairer and more egalitarian solution. ?

Next he will be auctioning off the Facebook pixel as an NFT. At least that is still free.

If 30% is monopolistic and harmful, as they said, what would you call the term for a 47.5% cut?

Is not the amount of cut alone which makes it an anti-trust issue: it's whether whoever demands the cut has enough market power in that particular segment to arise anti-trust concerns.

If Meta market power in the "metaverse" will be strong enough, they will likely get in trouble. If it's not they will not, but likely this also means that competition would force them to reduce the cut.

Said that, it makes little sense to discuss fictional anti-trust concerns in a market which does not exist yet which will deal with non-existing properties in non-existing realities.

The only real thing in the whole deal is the money users are expected to pay, which is a pretty tell-tale sign of the integrity of the whole concept.

It's all over for Facebook. Yes they have 4 billion users, growing every quarter, but so what ? Those are just numbers. Half the world's population may sound like a lot, but you have to consider that most of the world is covered by water. The next big thing is sure to be water based.

There's a simple explanation. Meta doesn't like Apple's 30% cut because that goes to Apple. They think the 47.5% meta cut is much better, because it goes to Meta! /sarcasm

Really though, it's a bit odd that Meta will throw so much money for developers to build games for their platform, but then gouge them on the proceeds. I suppose they will just pick and choose who to support, and then milk the rest for anything they manage to earn from consumers.

It’s just not fun when someone else gets away with it. But it’s fine when you do.
Suckerberg.

I still don’t understand what that even means „Metaverse“. I only know this from DC comics involving The Flash 😅 Am I getting old???

Edit: apparently it is banned in Germany. No wonder I haven’t heard of it
I’m from Germany too and know just about enough about the Metaverse. Gotta know your enemies son.
