Nothing like watching 60yr olds rock out decades past their prime ha
Also special to watch a 70 year old be in better shape than many 20 year olds:

If you can still do it you can still do it!
Or I take it everyone that is young now will give up doing things when they themselves get to the age which is considered ”too old”? 🤔

Why only 3 songs though?
Because it's only supposed to be a sample, unfortunately. Hopefully someday (soon) entire concerts and sporting events will be available for the AVP. 🤞

I wonder if apple filmed the entire concert and only released the three songs? Perhaps the rest of the show will be available at a later date?

On Friday, March 14, Apple plans to release a new Apple Immersive Video featuring Metallica, with Apple retail stores offering a preview for customers who do not have a Vision Pro headset.

The Metallica concert experience was filmed in Mexico City during the second-year finale of the band's M72 World Tour. It includes full performances of three songs, including "Whiplash," "One," and "Enter Sandman."

The concert was captured using Apple Immersive Video, and it provides a high-resolution 180-degree video along with Spatial Audio. Apple built a custom stage layout with 14 Apple Immersive Video cameras using a mix os stabilized cameras, cable-suspended cameras, and remote-controlled camera dolly systems that moved around the stage.

Apple says that the experience provides "unprecedented access" to Metallica members James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett, and Robert Trujillo, with views as close as the Snake Pit.

The video launches on Friday, and Apple Vision Pro demos at retail stores will provide a preview. Metallica's new EP, M72 World Tour: Mexico City is also launching on Apple Music on Friday.

$1,166.67 per song.

Not a lot of people will watch it anytime soon, but I'm happy if Apple is creating content for many years to come. At some point I'll (hopefully) throw on my Apple or other high quality AR glasses and enjoy this. 😊

I saw them in high school in the late 90s, during their Load tour, then again a couple years ago. They are not as good as they used to be.
As of March 12, 2025, the current Metallica lineup consists of James Hetfield (61), Lars Ulrich (61), Kirk Hammett (62), and Robert Trujillo (60)

Maybe Gen X and millennials (with jobs) that can afford an Apple Vision Pro….. I know quite a few
Uhhh one of the most successful bands for selling albums. One album sold more than 17 million copies so I guess the market is not as small as you might think.

Not a Metallica fan, but would love for one of my favourite artists to do this. Must be an incredible audio/visual experience. The negative comments here are so lame. Why only 3 songs though?
Very large file sizes for these immersive videos

Easy there champ. People can have opinions different than yours. I actually love Metallica, just found this a very weird release. Like who does this exactly benefit? Metallica? I doubt most of their fanbase have access to an Apple Vision Pro. Apple? A 3 song Metallica Live movie is highly unlikely to move any units. I would understand this release if Metallica had released a full feature concernt movie in more VR platforms (Meta at the very least). But as it is, I struggle to see who this is for....
Maybe someday we’ll be lucky enough to have AI filter out haters tedious videos that do go along the lines of of “ gee, . nobody buys that thing that I can’t afford to buy or chose not to buy.”

I have yet to buy a mac studio. I can’t imagine why somebody would buy one but I recognize that there might be professional people or people with way too much money who choose to buy one. I bought an Apple Pencil for one of my iPads. I still think it’s a stupid way to input data since I don’t do drawings. But that said, I don’t troll these forums complaining about mac studio the Apple Pencil or any of the other many Apple products That I have no place in my life. Rather, I enjoy listening to people who get excited about those products and actually do find uses for them.

As for this upcoming immersive videoit’s brilliant of Apple.

Metallica, (though not one of my favorite bands by any stretch) has one of the greatest records of selling albums of any rock band. They released a great live film in the theaters a few years ago of one of the concerts and it was fun. I’m looking forward to this video release this week. Three songs are a lot because of the massive file sizes.

Good to know about this. Not many will have access to Vision Pro. Apple should consider releasing the 2D version of the video as well.

Grandpa rock at its finest. I am pathetic this way; still love my 80’s metal, still shred a Les Paul and try to keep up with Zakk or Dime….. sigh…. Reflexes are slowing. If you laugh at dad/grandpa rock, hang in there, you’ll be joining us soon. I didn’t believe older folks either……

Ever notice everybody was better at what they did in the past? Wheird. Today I’m better than ever…….

Ignoring the kindergarten level "jokes" here which are ironically as grumpy and outdated as you can get. I don't have an AVP but I would be curious to see what the experience is. It's awesome that they're releasing this. Metallica are legends 🤘

When it comes to the rock genre that’s pretty much all that exists.
