Doesn’t matter, it should still be protected. Believe me when I say that I’ve dealt with trolls. They should still be allowed to talk even though they’re a-h0les.
The platform is free(lol) to decide. Elon is free to turn his platform into the next Xchan. That doesn’t mean advertisers or users have to accept it. People are free to leave. I hope all the white supremacists and anti-Semites flock to twitter. It makes them easier to identify.

Example of one a-h0le:

Companies that track analytics report that twitter has lost half of its advertisers 🤣.

Oh, but you won’t believe that. Maybe you should believe Twitter’s massive drop in reported earnings. More 🤣.
Not sure what your trying to say… it does not matter, if there is a way for Twitter to be profitable then Elon will find it, very few liberals like or watch Fox News but they seem to do just fine without them, Twitter will be just fine without them also. Elon did not buy Twitter to make a profit, it was something he believed in doing…. But like most of his endeavors it will probably end up making money… it may not be the same place as before but that was the whole point of the takeover

You know what would be awesome? If Brave, or one of the other privacy based browsers would make a good solution for social networking.
And just how would you pay for the machine power to do such a thing. That's the gotcha for totally privacy based services == there's no business incentive to do it if there's no money to be made. You could charge a fee to be a member, but it's sure going to be a lot more than what these guys make from advertising and statistical trending because you'll have so few users.

And what are you going to do when you identify them lol…. America is full of people with different ideas and ideologies, some unsavory but that is their freedom, their opinion is exactly equal to yours, you both get one vote

Everyone here is acting either like Threads is SO much better than Twitter or that Twitter is actually SO good now, even though Threads is owned by the company well known for having worse privacy than an open safe and the other is owned by someone who is allegedly so rich and a genius but can't even pay his cloud computing bills on time and makes the users suffer for his mistakes.

Yeah, I'll just take Mastodon. Or heck, I'll even ask to go back to internet forums being the norm.

More power to ya… have fun over there with all those people who agree with you
<chuckle>. I'll argue with the best of them, but once anyone starts throwing hate (exclusion, race based, sexual orientation) into it, I'm out.

I seem to have plenty of arguments on tech here in this forum without encountering hate. People get banned for trolling here, as it should be.

Twitter has heavily depended on advertising. Twitter has reported massive drops in revenue due to missing advertisers despite firing 3/4 of the work force. Nothing you have said changes the fact that Twitter greatly depends on advertising.

Also, you forget that Elon tried and failed to squirm his way out of his bid to buy Twitter. It’s as if he recognized the massive mistake he was about to make. Now he’s in waist deep in **** and I’m loving it.

Well like I said, it’s a better place without you… people who get pleasure from any kind of suffering are not people I see on my feed… they get blocked quickly whether they stay on the platform or not

probably been covered already in the 9 pages, but EU users can easily get it. set up a UK apple account, you dont need to add a card or use a real address, and then log out of your own account, in as this one, download, log out and back in as normal. then you can keep the app and it will keep updating fine.

Nope, not me. It’s not that I want Threads to win. I just want Twitter to lose and for Zuckerberg to kick Elon’s ass in a cage fight.

In all fairness, I'd like to see that result in the cage fight too, lol, but I'd rather just Elon lose overall. Twitter doesn't need some out of touch, "How do you do, fellow kids?" CEO who gets a kick out of others worshiping him.

Are you sure it's a free speech thing? Are you really really sure?

Because it seems like to me, it's more because Musk does not know how to run a social media at all and is trying to treat it like some industrial plant, slimming down the work force to the BARE minimum and trying to find ways to cheap out in order to save a few dollars.
Plus, having used Twitter in both the pre and post Elon era, I can confidently say that there hasn't been much of a change in what people have been able to say, only now Elon is pretending that he's bringing light to the masses.
It’s more of an equalization of light, community notes and other tools to prevent bots from driving narratives regardless of truth… those are the main changes I have seen

It may just be on your end cause all I've seen is more crypto scam accounts, the site continuing to break down like some old jalopy and people in general not being satisfied by anything Musk does.

My admiration for Elon is rooted in SpaceX, but it’s true that I happen to agree with most of his libertarian viewpoints and how those translate to his decisions related to Twitter and Tesla…. Not the cars but a.I. and robotics in general. So yeah I guess you could say I’m a fan because he often thinks like I do… but I certainly don’t look to him for guidance, I don’t agree with everything he says and does
