Yeah, people are forgetting that Instagram had (has?) a LITERAL PEDOPHILE RING. The fact that threads is an app teenagers are going to use is really scary and unsafe.

Yes.. this is true… I think it was the Wall Street Journal that first reported that…. It’s bizarre how child trafficking has been tolerated in our society…. You would think people would have been happy Musk started getting rid of it… instead it brought a wave of opposition. People are so lost these days…no moral compass whatsoever

I guess social media is doomed to be separated by ideology…different platforms for where you reside on the spectrum…. End result though is not the demise of Twitter or any other platform…. Obviously the split is about 50/50 so if threads is a success it will be inhabited by people who share their ideology…. Point being both will be profitable but the idea of a town square goes away. Twitter will most likely remain the place for free speech…I doubt very seriously if threads will allow people to say what they want… and even if they remain neutral the users will attack anything that does not share their ideology and will become the cesspool Twitter was before Elon took over

I feel like Threads was kind of rushed, there are a lot of features missing. What most likely happened is they were working on it and when Elon did the latest misstep (crashing the site by messing up the rate limit algorithm) they decided to release early.

BlueSky is over there going "oh but we have the best of both worlds! But we'll stay invite only for awhile because we hate success."

Twitter is not currently profitable. Twitter is losing more money under Elon as advertisers have fled the platform. Full stop 🤣

The same people who made Twitter a scam filled hell scape are already making their way there.

There is already a war between anti-crypto people and NFT cards.

There are also many millions of scam and spam accounts on Instagram. When they plug themselves into Threads the whole place will look like garbage.

Also, the main public feed isn't separate from your personal feed. Even on IG they push stuff on you that you don't want to see.

I’m still seeing advertisers on my feed…you are being sucked in by lots of wishful thinking of twitters demise… it dismisses the millions that support them, many who have subscribed to Twitter blue and companies that are also fans of free speech and will continue to advertise on the platform.

How do multiple accounts work? Unlike every other social app not seeing how to switch to other accounts one has other than presumably logging out completely and logging into another completely, but then presumably won't get notifications from the accounts not logged into?

It's a bad app because it only supports iPhone and doesn't support Mac and iPad.
Meta should support Mac and iPad as soon as possible.

I’ll only say to my eyes Twitter is much less of a hell scape than it was… in fact more people see my tweets and interact than before.. and all I use it for is astrophotography. So whatever Elon is doing has been a net positive for me. I think a lot of nasty people went to mastodon pretty much right away…. Perhaps the rest of them will be lured to threads…. I consider that a good thing. I’m not against any of them staying if they want to, They can say anything they want but Twitter does become a nicer place in their absence, you can tweet something controversial now and chances are you might have a conversation…. Before it would have just been a pile on of angry juvenile insults…. That’s the difference… those are the people going to threads
