PLEASE DO SOMETHING

as soon as possible. Literally clicking off the site every time it appears instead even dealing with it.

I have pop up blocker on my droid turbo running chrome and I still get the scrolling ad. I've seen it on and off for a while now. But to echo everyone else, it's very intrusive. Please get rid of it.

Every single time a new page loads on MacRumors I get this stupid scrolling ad. Once and a while fine, but every single page load, whether a thread or a category.

MetroPCS lacks any email address to contact them at, so I decided to tweet them instead (but I'm not very good at Twitter.) Anyways, here's what I tweeted:

@MetroPCS has the most annoying popup ads. Boycott them until they stop. https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1795385/

I figure the source of the problem isn't MacRumors - they didn't create the ad. We shouldn't punish MacRumors for it. It's really MetroPCS's fault the ad exists - they need to be told to knock it off or there will be consequences.

Then again, maybe they see this as "All publicity is good publicity", given how tiny they are.

Could just use the Desktop (Full) Version link at the bottom of the forums to stop getting the ad...

Well, it's something on MetroPCS and something on the ad network that serves an ad like that at the high frequency that it comes, but also some part is related to the site that uses such ad network and/or paricular configuration of it. It's not to say that its the site's fault but it is to say that it's part of the responsibility to make sure that the ad network and its configuration that are used are not detrimental to the users and the site overall, and to work on addressing such issues if and as they come up.

At the cost of constantantly needing to zoom in and out and scroll around.

Agreed. Just interesting that it does exactly what many have insisted is impossible.

Not really can't stop JavaScript unless it's disabled, and technically I guess this is not a pop up and falls well within the bounds of legal html. What would be impossible is to have your phone hacked by this javascript

This ad makes MR unusable. It literally freezes the browser and I have to refresh to gain scrolling again. Hopefully this will be fixed soon as it's driving away viewership.

I've been on MR often throughout the day. Ever since this ad started popping up for me - maybe once a day for about 2 minutes until the ad shows up when I check out a new thread.

Holy crap this is the WORST AD IVE EVER SEEN! I'm literally not visiting this site on my iPhone until this is removed.

I want to throw my phone through the wall.

It loads on EVERY. SINGLE. PAGE.

Or use the mobile version at the cost of not being able to see signatures, rankings, multiple quote buttons, and the last post in a forum? No thanks.

The mobile version looks neat on my iPhone, but for me it will always be the the desktop version until these limitations are fixed.

I was getting it all day yesterday on my iPhone. My poor little 9600 also tried showing it in Classilla(which defaults to displaying the mobile site) and I ended up having to reboot to do anything. I ended up displaying the site in desktop mode on that computer.

I'm okay with ads in general to support websites that I access for free, but this is beyond annoying.

I haven't used my iPhone(or 9600) today, so can't report if it's back or not.

Have signatures turned off even on desktop version as I don't care about them given that I'm here for the posts and not extraneous personal information or random thoughts. Don't care about rankings similarly. Multiple quote buttons would be good, but given my rare use of them on the desktop version it's not much of a loss. Last post in a forum isn't something that's of much use to me at least as I mainly go by subscribed posts or visit the forums themselves.

On the other hand, it would be great if the mobile version would allow us to subscribe to threads and would also parse URLs automatically when posting them--now those couple of things I often wish would be there.

At the same time not spending zooming and scrolling around constantly is something that plays a bigger role. So, that said, to each his or her own.
