Uh ? Where did you get I was an MS fanboy from ?

What am I not getting ? There is no logic behind your choice to include or not include the cover's thickness in the comparison between the Surface and iPad and frankly, no one really cares either way, both will be similar.

Excuse me, but your not a fan boy. Your a " fan bay ", whatever that is. ;)

KnightWRX, I think you need to pay attention to what's being said. theelysium has obviously spent months beta testing Surface tablets and knows them inside and out. Because of that I don't think we have any reason to doubt his unparalleled knowledge and expertise in this area.

I just watched the keynote people.

BTW no one is allowed to touch the device. MS wouldn't want reports of a faulty piece of equipment circling the technical threads.

So the fact that noone was allowed to test drive the device means that the keyboard is "an essential piece to the surface and without it your experience will be minimized."

The Fallacy is all in YOUR head. Have you not noticed you are the only one replaying. It's not an argument, but a fact that the keyboard is an essential piece to the surface and without it your experience will be minimized.

The keyboard is not an essential piece, it's a piece that enhances the experience. If you never use the keyboard, the Surface behaves just like the iPad with virtual keyboard. Why is this so complicated?

You're forgetting that thus you have to add its thickness to the Surface's thickness, and thus it is thicker than iPad without a smart cover, which means... nothing.

The die hard kool-aid drinkers are afraid that this might actually be a better option than an iPad.
So they make up wild assumptions based on limited information and create FUD over something because it doesn't have an Apple logo on it.

It's beyond belief at this point the total illogic being spewed against anything Microsoft does.

Indeed sure.

To be honest, I was shocked at this comming from Microsoft. I'm a heavy PC user ( still got my trusty PPC Macs anda new imac)

But, I think this tablet will be great, its innovative, as is its OS. Its got great specs tow.

Ill be buying it if it lives up to its hype, I hope it does well. It'll motivate Apple to improve the iPad. And that's good for us :the customer

In the first youtube clip at 13:39 to 13:41 it looks like the surface had some sort of problem. Did anyone else notice that?

For the record I only stopped replying due to your ridiculousness. Not because you're right, so don't get all excited thinking you proved your case. Far from it.

Just multiple price points to get the punters in. It's just one OS with hobbled features, depending on the versions you buy and (anecdotally of course), most people I know who have bought the cheaper versions have usually upgraded at least one or more levels after the fact.

I always buy the Pro versions as a just in case measure, but I know for a fact that I haven't used a single Pro feature in all my time with Windows 7. The only missing feature I can think of that might be a potential issue for Home Premium buyers would be not being able to hop onto a domain.

And just how many people outside of an enterprise environment do that?

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2012/06/20/pegatron_microsoft_surface/

Surface RT (ARM) = US $599
Surface Pro (x86) = US $799

SHUT UP & TAKE MY 799 BUGS!!!! :D

Hmm, the RT seems a bit high and the Pro seems a bit low from what I would guess. At those prices I'd easily go Pro and get an awesome machine that could pretty much replace my current laptop. Realistically I wont be buying either until v2 or a price drop though since my current computer is only 2 years old and I just put in another $150 buying a new screen after the GF kicked it off the bed.

True - I always buy the pro version as well for those in my family that use Windows and no, they don't need to hop on a domain but they do want the "run in XP mode" add-on for running god-awful old software they don't want to spend the money to upgrade. Still question the real need for multiple versions other than marketing ("You've got a choice!").

Gonna have to say, I think you're completely wrong based on what I know of KnightWRX.

You also seem to be in the minority. It's an accessory....nothing more...nothing less.

There really isn't a reason, no. It's one of things that irks me about MS and Windows. They should have one version, Windows Blah, and that's it.

And XP Mode? Eh. Even for people with a copy of Pro and XP Mode, I tell them to get Virtualbox and use it instead. It's almost guaranteed to run XP smoother than the MS provided option.

I remember not long ago when Microsoft threatened OEMs that dared to consider offering customers the option of buying a computer installed with Linux. Now Microsoft is getting into the PC hardware business. Truly amazing.

A warning: I didn't read any posts here. I just want to post a video and say my piece. So if my video has already been posted here, I'm sorry.

The bottom line is where are the Microsoft moments like Apple has had? Like the 1984 Macintosh, 2001 iPod, 2007 iPhone and the 2010 Ipad? Where they truly invented OR marketed something original? Yes we all know that Xerox invented the GUI. However their administrators didn't see nothing in marketing their GUI to the public BUT Steve Jobs and Apple did. Xerox basically just gave their GUI technology to Steve Jobs. Then Apple improved upon it a bit then Apple actually marketed it out to the public where it became HUGELY SUCCESSFUL obviously. With Surface there's nothing original here. Except for Microsoft putting a couple of I/O ports on their tablet...

So Apple took someone else's idea, improved upon it a bit, and you consider that innovation?

Microsoft takes someone else's idea, improves upon it a bit, and that's unoriginal bald faced copying?

Posts. Videos. Whatever. Anything to do with who did what first is totally and completely pointless.

Surface RT pricing

32GB WiFi - $399
64GB WiFi - $499

32GB LTE - $499
64GB LTE - $599

Surface Pro pricing

64GB WiFi - $799
128GB WiFi - $899

64GB LTE - $899
128GB LTE - $999

Meaning the most expensive Surface Pro LTE will still be only $999. Victory!

At least MS is consistent, the "Copy Cat Kings" are "par for the course," AGAIN!

And at least Ballmer is somewhat backing his two years in the works, "Coming Full Guns" proclamation. But it seems in this case it's more like "Coming Full Water Guns." LOL!

Because with iPad, you got anything other than a glorified iPod touch/iPhone? I don't see your point.

At least with Surface Microsoft has taken the tablet form factor and given you the option to buy one that supports a full blown PC OS. Mark my words, Apple will eventually "borrow" the keyboard cover idea, and we'll probably see an "iPad Pro" that is running OS X at some point in time.
