Damn it Siri, you're just not that hot anymore. I need you to play with third party apps or I'm trading you in for a sexier, younger model who does threesomes.

I just wish they'd get rid of Siri all together. I was probably one of the first people to turn it off on the iphone 4S.

I agree... YOU don't like it so it should just go away

If you can just turn it off, why do you care that other people have Siri on their phones?
Because the earth doesn't revolve around the sun as we were taught.... it revolves around an even bigger round object.

IMO, Apple has nothing to fear but if Windows Phone gets a foothold, it will hurt Android more than it will iOS. I've only played with it, but it seems like a decent mobile OS and now that there are a few hundred million Windows 8 pc's out there, some of those people may go for Windows phone over Android. Thoughts?

I agree, the real MS challenger is Google, and for another reason : iOS is now far more than an "handled notbeook" OS.

Around me many professionals in various domain like musicians or audio engineer, jobs in printing or movie industry, live events, education or academic now use it in their work. And not for what I called "notebook task" that even a Psion can handle, but for specialized or dedicated app, as iOS devices can now be added in a part of their workflow.

In terms of influence it give Apple a far better thing than marketshare or buzzy geek hype of-the-month : value. And a presence on other domain that their core activity : that's how from years they survive to Windows 95, with other market than common consumers.

Beside that, never forget that Microsoft stay a major company in corporate environment, and Google a dwarf in it. Geeks tend to see computing industry only from the small part of the lens like "NEED DA BEST CRYENGIN PERF/PRICE" or "I NEED TO RUN AN OS/2 VM IN MY OS FOR USING MY RS-242 ELECTRICAL TRAIN CONSOLE WITH MY SMARTPHONE, IF IT CANTZ ITS GARBAGE LOL". Ok, with such tremendous and paying activities, sure your advice is accurate...

Apple is so worried about Samsung/Android I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft makes a huge comeback and overtake Apple in phones and tablets in the next few years. Microsoft is more aggressive than Apple in my opinion.

Its just a waste of space. Isn't it still in beta after all these years?

You know that for a fact? How much space does Siri occupy exactly?

Personally, I think Siri is a killer feature of iOS and I use it all the time. I never have understood all the griping about it. I've used it since its debut and have loved it. For me, the ability to speak a reminder into my phone is awesome, but there's so much else, including the ability to pull up different tunes while driving without having to take my eyes off the road.

If Siri is still a beta, I'd never have known it.

I'm surprised by everyone who says they don't use or like Siri. I use it EVERY day for things like...

"Call Jennifer Collins, mobile."
"Set timer for 15 minutes."
"Fast food near me."
"Search web for Tesla Model S."
"What's the weather like tomorrow?"

I also have the "Raise to Speak" feature turned on (Settings/General/Siri) so I can just raise the phone to my ear with a deliberate gesture and Siri is activated.

I use it all the time for alarm, especially naps "wake me up in one hour", much quicker than setting it manually, and i don't have to do math.

I kind of wish siri would always listen for her name, or one you could program. soon, siri will just be another person in the room in the conversation.

It will be interesting to see how this goes. Presumably, like the Google product, it will run on the phone…

Siri in the cloud is such an un-Apple-like experience. Given the number of customers, you'd think Apple would be looking for an on-the-phone solution. Come-on Apple, just buy Nuance/Dragon and be done with it.

Also - interesting to see how another low volume service goes. Google can't have much traffic, since even the 5c outsells all iPhone-class Android phones. Microsoft would be significantly less again.

Apple, on the other hand, has to handle hundreds of millions of customers, which I guess is why the public Siri has such limited features, even compared to the Siri Apple bought, and why Apple hasn't opened up Siri to developers.

An interesting small scale experiment, the likes of which, Apple just can't do…
Sync doesn't seem to have worked out in the car. Microsoft has more flexibility on their own phones, so we'll see how they do there.

I know this is a very minor thing to point out, but I think Cortana, just to say is 1 syllable too long, and as insignificant as this sounds, I think that matters with a name that is meant to be "catchy"
Cortana is a major character from one of the biggest video game franchises of the past decade. The name doesn't need to be catchy when it's already caught on.

...I still think it's a stupid milking of the Halo franchise, though. Seriously, what next? Master Chief fights aliens with his Windows phone in Halo 5? God, Halo sucks now...

 this is just plain freaky now..

A phone that says without any response from the user, "I hope your ready for this trip" ?

I don't mind when voice know this, (which isn't is kinda not good since you don't have control over what you told it previously), but when a piece of technology knows ahead of time what your about to say, and reply before you even say it..... That's the thing which i'm not good with...

The human relation is difference, but this is technology... It's not supposed to be human, its supposed to be computers with limited capability.

I think the term "real person assistant" is the key here.. How real is too real, to the point you just wanna start running as far away as possible.

I don't mind all this stuff, but there is certain level it must stay at...

The Windows OS is looking Great. I'm still waiting for my bigger IOS phone but this is getting tempting.

Really? I had no problem with that:

Uh, yeah. You need to ask a specific question. Do you want to adopt a dog or cat or an exotic animal?

If you ask a stupid (open ended) question then you are going to get a stupid (open ended) answer.

Siri will not give you clear answer if you don't supply it with a clear question. It's like hitchhikers guide the galaxy where they ask a stupid non-question and get the answer 42.

This is really no different from how some people are horrible at using google. They can never find what they are looking for because they cannot ask the right question.

Anyone else think that them branding this as Cortana is really creepy? The notebook function sounds cool and all, and I enjoy the Halo games but I don't want a sexualized video game character used to appeal to 15 year old boys on my phone.

I have never understood why people think Cortana is so sexualized. In the first game, she looks like a man. In the second game, she got longer hair, but was still basically a purple transparent humanoid shape. In the third game, she's got more polygons, but it's not like she's naked, she's fully dressed. She's not flirting with you or gyrating around suggestively. Most of the time, you don't even see her.

I mean, have you people even seen porn?

Cortana sounds like Contra.
Contra featured the Konami code.
