Why should Apple care about new PC's? Their path is clearly marked down

Apple had better come out with some sort of tablet or phone that can drive a designer-sized display — a "one device to rule them all" approach, or someone else will. And I'll likely get one. I refuse to buy into the desktop/display/laptop/tablet/phone/watch scenario. It's expensive, inconvenient, and wasteful. But I guess it makes Apple money, for now.

I just noticed it will be using the older series 900 GPUs from NVIDIA. I wonder if they plan to update it soon to the 1000 series

Owwwww really..... I see a lot of agencies using iMacs.....cause they are better machines than the Mac pros , and I visit a lot of agencies .

It's also true that agencies, and corporations in general, like to buy/lease refurbished computers…and typically at least a year or two out of date to further cut the price. That's what makes some of the arguments about Apple "abandoning" creative professionals kind of funny. Most people would love to have a "don't buy" 2015 iMac or MBP supplied to them by their employer.

At these prices, it's obvious that Microsoft doesn't intend to sell too many of them. Good lord, this forum would go absolutely nuts with doom and gloom if the new Macs tomorrow were at these price points.

When in the video the woman puts the dial on the screen...... it is BOOOOOOOM.

It's been long time since Apple last BOOMed us!! Having watched the presentation on the live streaming.... al the devices part of it has been superb! Much more dynamic that the recent ones of Apple. They show you a video....talk little about the product and them..... 'but there's more'....... new video....the screen can be put nearly flat... with no effort...boom.... and then the dial thing... BOOM!

I was thinking the same thing. With the announcements, there are clearly a few missing items that have debuted late 2016, that would be nice to see. I'm sure Microsoft is already thinking about their 6month or 1 year revision.

interesting to see no USB3/Thunderbolt. At least 1 or 2 ports for "future proofing". Also, using a 9xxm series GPU at this point seems like an afterthought, especially when Nvidia announced about 2 months ago the 1060, 1070 and 1080 would be available in non-mobile configurations for mobile devices.

Likely we'll see the next revision with either the 1050ti or 1060.

OSX is the only little thread keeping me from this Surface Studio. Apple should take notice in a big way if they want to still be a player is this arena. Well done MS. You're up Apple! Don't let us down, and sorry, the little OLED strip isn't going to cut it anymore. MS just set the new bar.

They do for now. But once DJs, artists, designers, etc. start switching away from Apple, there will eventually be damage to the brand. Consumer perceptions can shift pretty quickly.

Apple has made a big mistake in ignoring professionals. Cook thinks he's just following the money (average consumers), but he's forgetting that the pros are the tastemakers.

Agreed. If anyone is in doubt, look at the embarrassment the Mac "Pro" has become. "Can't innovate anymore, my ass." Still laughing at that Schiller line.

Was that not innovative at the time? You can't dilute that by saying it hasn't been updated in (far) too long.

You really need to watch more carefully.....

The Pen sticks to the side like with an iMac G5, the arm is chrome, rounded corners...

Lol, just kidding. Off course they're not exactly the same. You have to admit though, the Studio isn't completely unique like it would blow Apple away in terms of design. The current iMac feels old compared to the Studio, but it's not because Apple's not trying. The iMac has another purpose, it doesn't have a touchscreen. If it had a touchscreen they could've sticked to the G4 design and they would've been miles ahead of the Studio.

If Apple decides the iMac needs a touchscreen, they will be late to the game. If they decide it's fine without, the current design isn't that much in need of a complete refresh. Touchscreen Macs can reshape everything, it's just something Apple doesn't do (yet).

Excerpt from my YT post: So long iMac and hello Surface Studio! I have to say that Microsoft may have finally understood what it takes to compete. Quality, Reliability, and Customer Support. That's where Apple has excelled, but in recent years Apple has slipped... This machine appears not only to match the iMac but perhaps it's even better. I'm in the market for a new computer, and I'm sure it's no coincidence that Microsoft decided to promote their new machines a day before Apple announces their new/updated offerings. I just hope it's as good as it looks regarding operation and reliability. It will still take quite a bit for Microsoft to improve on customer support. The last time I tried, I was routed to some off-shore location with a poor connection, and it sounded like a chicken was being slaughtered in the background.

How about we wait until tomorrow before we start comparing this to Apple's current offerings? Is it that hard to wait one day?

We already saw a picture of the macbook pro, they just cut a little bezel off (FINALLY) and added some dummass oled bar to replace physical keys that are invaluable to people who WORK on their computers.

We already know there will be no desktop updates. imac will keep the ugly chin and ancient graphics cards, MacPro and mini will languish.

So, yeah, it's safe to react to innovation now instead of an Apple TV app tomorrow. lol
