The all in one is almost exactly like the old iMac flower pot. Weightless screen adjustment + thin monitor. Not sure why apple decided to remove the functionality and go to the current iMac design.

I like these products but they're waaaaay too expensive.

yes perhaps it was from 1996, but the one the original posted WAS NOT. That was my point....
And my point was the new MS stuff is no where near a 1996 design. And since you seem to be the authority can you show me a 1996 PC that resembles the new Surface studio? Be curious to see it if its not too much trouble. Thanks!

I agree, the price tag is a little too high, while I love everything about the Studio, I think MS got a little greedy in setting the price so high.

I think this would have been an iMac killer at 2,000
Wouldn't the price problem with the Studio be due to having such a massive touch-screen? Spec-wise it doesn't seem very "pro" to me, but that screen and how it interacts with that accessory on-screen seems quite unique. That's what's driving the price to be so high...

So, you have to occupy TWO freaking hands to draw now? You can't just up, point the pencil like a normal efficient human being to a corner or a side to bring up paints or tools, you gotta integrate this gigantic "wheel" that's ahem, soooo much so "in the way" of productivity. Umm, Fail. Fail. LMAO !!!!
This is Windows you know. So things aren't locked to work in just one way and one way only. It is of course up to the user if he/she wants to use the "wheel" or interact with the pen or a mouse or a finger or the keyboard or voice instead.

The studio is just stunning. I think they are working over time to keep the PC market alive. I really wish apple would make a surface book clone. Give me a ipad pro running osx that can dock into a full sized keyboard and take my money.

Yeah, that display is one of a kind. Haven't seen out in consumer space such a high res, lightweight, fully digitized, touch panel of that screensize whill only be < 13mm. That alone impresses me the most (the computer is run of the mill all in one here). That panel alone I'd buy easily. If MIcrosoft decided to sell the displays with pen/widget thingy for $1,000, i'd buy one now

"It's too thin! The thermals will be terrible! It has old processors at release! Apple don't care about professionals! I can't type on that keyboard!! Apple are so expensive!"
- Reaction to a slightly thinner MacBook Pro with Skylake which will be released in November 2016 and start at well under $2000

"OMG it's so thin and beautiful and modern and fast for my professional work and such good value! They really topped Apple here!"
- Reaction to hybrid tablets (tablets being really great to type on) with Skylake released in 2017 starting at $2400

Oh, please. That was something done only during the very first public Win10 beta, and was deactivated shortly thereafter. Nowadays, the only things that sends data to MS are Cortana, and some Windows Store apps that very specifically inform you of such.

While the Windows 10 privacy issues are way overblown on this forum, there's no denying Apple's stance on privacy is admirable.

Wait... Bwaahahahahaaaa they have the "wheel", oh, my - gosh, what?! It looks like a hockey puck or a one of my cosmetic powder or moisturizer container, what a hot mess ! What a failure of a comment. LMAO at the lack of imagination.

This is a great implementation of an idea to reduce the need to keep going to the side of the screen, menus etc. Your arm will certainly thank you for it. I am a total mac fan, and have been for years, but this is a fantastic idea as it allows focus as the interface will work where you work.

That Surface Studio seems like a product Apple would create. Nice job Microsoft

In terms of actual looks... not so much in my opinion. They've mixed shiny metal with matte finish aluminium and also rounded those support arms to make the curves different to both the display and box. But they've certainly gone for it in terms of innovation and improving the power and ease of creating something with their software. That's good as it will hopefully push apple to improve Keynote/Pages and their video editing software.

Serious some people, so petty and bully like, can we PLEASE stick to the topic of responding to and or passionately reacting to, or technically analyzing content, please? Rather than bashing and raving and raging on other members in the forum, that is really juvenile delinquent behaviour please STOP it - thank you and I love you all children.

So I've yet to watch their conference, but have they solved the overheating issues yet?!? I'll admit as a long time Apple fan that I think Microsoft is doing neat things with the Surface line up, but Apple's latency in the Pencil still has them beat, and these things overheat like a motherf*****. My buddy has one and just a few minutes of watching a flash video, or playing a game, or editing in Photoshop and you can noticeably feel it heating up. He's had every surface since the original and they've all done this. (he's exchanged all of them at least once as well) Hell even Mr.Microsoft himself, Paul Thurrott, has had these overheating issues with the surface and has been very public about them. So unless they've fixed that its no killer product, my iPad, iMac, and multiple styles of Macbooks never overheat like this and I do a lot of heavy 4K video editing, and graphic design.

I gotta say that the presentation is quite amazing. The energy, the excitement reminds me of Jobs's presentations. I'm impressed! (Check it on techcrunch)
Agreed! Panos, I love your passion! Finally, a computer for the rest of us...in the top 1%

Right? I think prowlmedia thinks Windows 8 is Windows 10. "Metro side" in Windows 10????????
Metro in Windows 8? MS not getting rights to "Metro" should have signaled the whole release was doomed! I found 8 and 8.1 quirky but acceptable. Windows 10 is no great improvement to me. I did like the idea that the desktop and modern ui switched legacy status. Long live desktop

really gorgeous!

and I am totally willing to give it a try.. even thought it is windows ;)

that super-sized monitor with touch screen ability totally kills it!

The "drafting table angle" is what my best friend (illustrator) and my sister (2d animator/concept artist) use on their cintiqs everyday for work, along with numerous coworkers. MS understands exactly how people use these devices.
Hey, are you seeing a little jiggle in drafting table position? Fatal.

I also wonder how stable the Studio setup is. The screen is very much larger than the footprint of the base. Unless the base weighs a lot (15+ KG) I fear you can't really put your hands down on the screen and lean on it too much, or it will topple. Certainly in raised mode.
If you look at the 27" Cintiq Ergo Stand, its footprint is comparatively much wider and weighs approximately 16KGs.
Better test drive this thing first.
Cold rolled steel for the chassis and the computer case would help.

• Most people I know who now use Windows only do so because they have to....

Dude, step out of the bubble. I have owned macs and pc's and always greatly preferred windows. I, like many others, use windows on Mac hardware. I don't hate mac os, i just don't think its anything special

Over at Apple the keynote slides are already being edited...

and the atmosphere at keynote tomorrow would be like: so tense :D :D

feel da pressure Apple. You really need to up your game! I miss the moment leaving the keynote with "WOW, that is so COOL" literally.

It's important to note that Apple's version of this would likely be a desktop iPad Pro rather than a touch iMac. macOS is designed for a click UI, iOS is designed for touch. Apple has been careful to maintain that distinction.

A 27" iPad Pro on an iMacG4-like hydrolic arm would be fantastic.
