Can't wait for the new commercials.
I disliked the first two Microsoft ads very much.
I really enjoy Apple's ads. I can't wait to see Microsoft's "comeback."

Ditto.
The first MS ad was stupid and offensive - I don't ever want to see Bill shake his booty again (that was crass).
The second ad was extremely condescending and made Bill and Jerry look like arrogant pricks (at least to me).
Now in a new MS ad a copycat PC guy says, “Hello, I’m a PC and I’ve been made into a stereotype," - how lame! Stating your point that frankly is not catchy, it is tacky.

Wow.. just took a look at the new ad, the closing line.....
I'm a pc and I'm a human being.... not a human doing, not a human thinking I'm a human being.

Holly cow.. their paying people for this?
The message I get: I dont do anything, I have no thoughts... I just am. WOW!
Sounds like an amoeba.

Seriously, how can Microsoft fanboys not see the irony of this. Apple, wether you like their ads, software, hardware .... are a class act. The stuff is beautiful, the ads are just great.. (kudos to agency they use). The darn think different campaign was art, The mac/pc guys are very contemporary humor wise... daily show etc.

This is just too much... I'm a PC and I wear glasses.... ouch, that will certainly keep some people from switching!

Seems like no matter what MS do it wont be accepted :(

Obviously the ad (and the BG/JS ads) forms part of a campaign - the basic idea being to shift the perception that the PC is only used by bean counters and accountants - a diverse range of people are seen to be PC users - again not just the people forced to due to corporate IT environments.

I really liked the Ad. I actually liked the BG/JS ads - the kicker being the nod to future tech that BG/MS is working on.

This almost reminds me of the "Gabbo" campaign from the Simpsons - spmething is coming. Although whatever it is, it is unlikely to change my next purchase to be a PC rather than another Mac ;)

The first Seinfeld ad was embarrassingly dumb. The second one I kinda liked. These I'm a PC ads are a throwback to the old IBM connected world ads-- how many random people can you show doing random things in random places.

Wow, diversity... How hip.

As a Marketing Director I have to agree with the majority of posters in this thread - these spots are horrible!

The original spots with Seinfeld and Gates left me scratching my head as to why a company with as much $ as MS has...would put out such a poor spot.

Then last night, I saw the "I'm a PC" spot and literally LOL - I then turned to my wife and said; "they've got to be kidding, right?"

I think MS should take some of the $ they're spending on advertising and put it into fixing the Vista bugs, not trying to convince consumers nothing is wrong.

Just my $.02. :apple:

The Jerry series would have worked if commercials could be 4.5min long. Imagine how annoying those I'm a mac ads would be if they lasted more than 30 seconds. garbage

If they would have worked, why did MS pull them? Because they are garbage and most people probably hated them.

Whereas those "I'm a Mac" ads are still running. Garbage?

You do know that you can delete movies, tv shows, and podcasts directly from the iPhone and iPod touch, right? All you have to do is swipe your finger from left to right across the name of the item you want to delete.

i tried that... it didn't work.

Please advise. Works great with EMAILS, but not on podcasts. Tried various ways, name of show, certain shows within shows, not getting that RED DELETE/ERASE button.

Thanks

I don't know how much you know about production, but Avid Symphony is the name of the system. I'm not sure what school you're talking about, but ones that have existing Symphonys will probably continue to teach it. If you sink that kind of money into a machine you might as well get your use out of it.

It has been my experience that Final Cut is taking over the industry. The only people still using Avid are holdouts. Granted some Avid systems offer some real time editing, but unless you spend the big bucks you're not going to get as much real time editing as a Final Cut system.

In all the people I've met, I've known 3 people who knew Avid. One guy started before non-linear editing. One guy was taught Avid at school, and the other guy wound up with the system and learned it himself.

I'm in graphics and my work system is an 8 core Mac Pro with 8GB RAM. The only people who even use PCs in our office are account execs and that's it. Sorry, but I, and many others I'm sure, think you're flat out wrong.

Avid Video Symphony Burbank CALIFORNIA.

Friend of mine also uses Avid at Fox, Culver City

Derek Vanderhoost, IMDB him, numerous credits. While they LIKE, yes, LIKE FCP, it still has lots of latencie issues compared to a fully spec avid machine and this school in Burbank is #1 in the world and they teach FCP too, but the majority of the studios still use Avid.

Sure, down the road as the net takes over TV and content producers are mom and pop, it will become more the norm. I would always advise LEARNING FCP if you don't know it as it WILL become MORE in demand, but the point was that the SERVER systems were MUCH more cost effective, stable and POWERFUL, as well as scalable, that I was very shocked when I saw WINDOWS and NOT macs upon a recent TOUR.

Call GREG the Admissions guy there if you don't believe me - he said they used to be MACS but the SERVERS the FARM out are so much faster. Have to remember, Apple STILL slower to come out with what the market has. e.g. 4 core chips not available yet in any MAC config and 16 cores are right around the corner.
;)

Yeah, because the Mac ads aren't repetitive... at... all.

Working in Production, Marketing, Branding (and Composing, Sound Design),

a) Commercials I and II had everyone talking about MSFT!
b) Next time the "Hello, I'm a Mac..." runs, people are going to second look and think about it, what is it Apple is doing, hey, they have been putting us down...(PC users) and it's still at 90% and this is why Apple MUST release all products with DEDICATED GPU's and at better price points.

One person said the MAC PRO uses standard ECC RAM, and yes, it's true, but the HEAT SINK set up is proprietary so you cannot go and add 4-8 GB of any ole' ECC memory. The APPLE way (EVERYTHING AT RETAIL) drives me insane.

Bluetooth, for example, $129 Jawbone (SUGGESTED RETAIL PRICE) and you can find it anywhere else cheaper, everything they sell is at retail and the mac specialists has to sell AD ON's (.MOBILE ME, APPLE CARE), they don't get commissions, and make a little more than minimum (are you kidding) and if they don't sell these ad on's and sell a BRICK (a computer without any warranty, mobile me) they won't ever get promoted to a creative (a secretary in an office makes 3 X more), or GENIUS (a standard PA or asst in the record business makes more)....

Apple just surprises me sometimes, and most of the time, its disappointment, as a PRO USER.

They are at least running true to form! There next version of Vista will probably be named after a cat too.

I thought they were going to call their next version "System 7" which is a copy of an earlier Mac OS name. So, in effect, their plan is to make their next OS to be finally functionally equivalent to the Mac OS of long ago.

Looking for a bargain? Comparable PCs are much cheaper than their Mac counterparts. Less productivity? So I'm guessing 95% of the world (i.e. Windows Users) experiences less productivity than you? If anything, the staying power of Windows in the business world shows how much it's productivity is worth. The fact that most businesses choose to staff their workers with PCs must be puzzling to people like you, right?

No, the fact is that most businesses hire IT managers who select PCs because it means job security and a large staff of technicians. It's been proven long ago that the total cost of buying a PC is higher due to the infrastructure costs. In 1995 a study was published that showed a 50% mix of PCs and Macs was the break even point where the cost of a mixed network began to tilt toward an all-mac advantage.

The PC gained it's favor in the business community in the mid 1980s because it was originally offered only by IBM, and the IT managers (back before they were re-titled MISmanagers) knew IBM and knew it was a safe purchase decision, "No one was ever fired for buying IBM."

Finally, productivity is a measure of work output, which is dependent more on having the intranet up and running than on the operating system inside the box. However, even then, the Mac has shown to be a more reliable system; less sensitive to virii, and more rapidly restored to the intranet.
