Edge is a good browser! Microsoft has done a really good job in therms of optimization and stuff. The biggest issue with safari is: really bad user experience. The worst part: if u want to add add-on you need to go to the App Store instead getting these straight from browser interface.
2. Safari sucks in many websites. A lot of them are not optimized for webKit and they will never be because those developers care more about browser that are popular like chrome, Firefox etc.
3.Apple messed up with safari in recent years. Browser doesn’t show thumbnails in many bookmarks because nobody knows what causes the problem
4. Speed was a dominant in Safari. Not anymore. They need to change something or they will loose more users
5. 95% of people who own a Mac they use google chrome lol

If you throw in Microsoft's other browser (Internet Explorer), MS browsers have higher desktop usage share than Safari - 10.6% versus 9.84%.

Of course, it's a different picture in the U.S. where Safari has 18.12% versus Edge/IE's 13.31%.

None of this is especially relevant given how much Chrome continues to dominate the browser market.

Blink (Chromium's rendering engine) was actually forked from WebKit several years ago.

I'd much rather use Edge over Chrome, that's for sure. But Safari is my daily driver, works great, and is always snappy.
Funny how that happened (WebKit to Blink). And yes, Edge over Chrome any day. Hell, my choice would be Brave over all of them... well except Safari. That's the one I use most.

Brave is the only Chromium-based browser I use as it’s open source. The rest are just spyware.
I use Firefox as my main browser.
Safari and WebKit are junk.
Personally I think Safari should adopt the Gecko engine.

These are just my opinions.

What is still surprising is why is Chrome number one, it’s bloatware.
I want to say it's because people are dumb, but if I were to really think about it, it's because Windows and Chromebooks are so prevalent.

I'd also guess that many people don't download and use a different browser other than what comes pre-installed. And those that do (for logic that's beyond me), choose to download and use Chrome. Maybe it's because it's what they use at work or it's what they're famililar with? ?‍♂️ Maybe it's because it's easier for people to sync their bookmarks between mobile and desktop? ?‍♂️ Maybe it's because they don't know about Firefox and other alternatives (like Brave even though it's also based on Chromium)? ?‍♂️

Sadly I think we are getting close to seeing the end of Firefox here and this will not be a good thing for the web.
Firefox is only trailing Edge and Safari by a small margin, and unlike Safari and Edge people actively have to seek out and install Firefox as opposed to it being the default install, save for on many Linux distros. It's a shame I don't like the iPad versions of Edge or Firefox; neither allow for a permanently visible Bookmarks/Favorites bar on iPad as Safari does. I like Firefox's interface overall versus Safari and would happily switch. Apple no longer allowing third party browsers to access Keychain on macOS is another deal killer.

Microsoft is using Edge as part of its DLP strategy so companies that deploy on IOS can force you to use it to access links from outlook, teams, etc. I hate that some stuff fails to work as expected, but I get that companies try to enforce their security policy.

Once Microsoft went like “okay fine we made edge basically chrome pls use it” I gave it a try and it was alright I guess as a chromium based browser, esp since chrome extensions work on it.

Now I’m not gonna go out of my way to install edge on iOS or my Mac just yet, but when using my PC edge is alright since it’s already there.

Honestly I'm a fan its pretty good and light weight.
Sometimes I'm forced to work with it at work, and to be honest I think Edge has an unfair bad reputation because of IE. I still prefer Chrome, but compared to the old IE it's wildly closer to their competitors.

I had no idea Chrome was at 70%. Holy Hell, that is some dominance! So you have the #1 search engine with the #1 email, video site, smartphone and browser all under one company? That seems a little fishy.

Both Edge and Safari are good web browsers, I guess people choose between them depending on the OS they are using.

What is still surprising is why is Chrome number one, it’s bloatware.
… or OS’s: I work on windows and MacOS. Unfortunately, Apple is exiling itself, if you know what I mean: too little cross-platform availability of some key software (horrible iTunes, terrible iCloud Drive, awful iCloud chain integration, no safari, no iMessage, etc…). People I know are getting more and more upset and annoyed and rather turn to more open systems.

And yes, it’s a very difficult path in creating a walled garden and allowing others to peak into it.

In the matter: I have seen Edge evolving quickly, adding great features and becoming a reliable and fast browser.

I mainly use Safari on macOS for the continuity with my iPhone.
However how Edge is more popular than Firefox...that I don't understand...
I used Firefox for years and years (it's my favourite one on windows, to this day) and from what I could see, it's better than Edge (which I also tested).
