I will download it tomorrow when I am at home. Any idea when the a380 might be available. Are we talking weeks or months?

The performance penalty is nuts. I wonder whether it will be worth it.

Not sure, nothing said. It's probably going to take a while for them to make it ready for 2024. It is working well in 2020 at the moment.

I'm not liking that MSFS2024 seems overloaded with people trying to access it. I haven't purchased yet so maybe a good thing.

I've been reading the official forums, the whole thing looks like a complete disaster with people queued to be able to use the software, presumably because the servers are overloaded - or MS is trying to throttle the load so that the servers don't go into meltdown.

I think I'm staying with MSFS2020 for now. Feel bad for those who spent the $$$ on the new product, even worse for those who purchased the special edition with the bag and other extras.

New games what require online pretty much always have issues the first couple days/weeks. More so if the game is popular.

It's the most disasterous launch since CP2077. You can barely download the game. When you have done so, it might not load. If it loads, any of the cloud services might not work. If thye do, buildings and textures loas super slowly. 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎

  1. The game is a hot mess. Biggest gaming disaster since cp2077 launch. It could take MS more than 1 year to fix this game.

  2. After playing fs2024 I just briefly fired up fs2020. The difference is night and day. Fs2020 just works! There is peace of mind and a sense of relief knowing that once inside the game, everything will pad because it's stored locally. Check out this fps comparison, with my 4070ti Super:
    -Fs2020 ultra at 4k dlss: 90-100fps.
    -Fs2024 medium at 4k dlss: 25-40fps.

IMO it will take them a couple of months, if not a year to fix cloud streaming and optimise performance.

The whole idea of 2024 was supposed to be improved performance- so this is bad.
That's the irony. Check youtube videos. Even people with 4090 and top spec are under 60fps. This is without installing mods and 3rd party aeroplanes like the 15GB A380.

After following this a bit, I've decided to not even bother for a few weeks
The game is broken in many ways. It feels beta and will take a few weeks if not months to fix.

Bet Nvidia shows off the 5090 getting (nearly) double the 4090 framerate in this game.

FS2024 makes me think of the remaster of Horizon Zero Dawn: Visual improvements that are disproportionate to the steep drop in FPS and increased hardware requirements.

Looks like reflections and GI have been changed in the remastered version. I guess if you never played/saw the original the performance hit wouldn't seem out of line for what it looks like.

I started the dl of MSFS2024 this morning, maybe by the time I get home I can play (I doubt that will be the case, lol).

Updated. I played it today. MUCH experience than yesterday and I'm super optimistic.

My fps has improved and 60fps in 2024 is waaaay smoother than 120fps in 2020 thatäs riddles with micro tears and stutters.

When the game runs well, it's utterly stunning. I never expected to be mesmerised by the trees. They add a high degree of reaslism and makes you want to fly low. I might start doing bush trips.

The free roam camera is super cool, fast and smooth way of panning around. Looking forward to doing so around all planes. Overall I'm excited. MS just need to allow us to download certain parts of the game like planes, buildings or regions and it will be a lovely gaming experience.

I’ve seen drastic performance differences between a 4k and 2k monitor. I’d definitely be running this on a 2k display.
Yeah, Ultra looks like a no go. Tried FSR and the brackets that you can enable had LOTS of distracting ghosting. So I went back to TAA. There doesn't appear to be any frame generation which could help with the smoothness.

Please do! A bunch of you guys only seem to like to fiddle around with airliners and it's giving me PTSD! ;)
Ex airliner pilot? :)

Sadly my preferred airliner isn't yet in MSFS at study level. Sure there is a Concorde available but it's not good enough. Definitely not study level like I'm used to from old FSX.

There are still lots of angry people flaming about slow access to MSFS2024 so I'm staying away from it at the moment.

The game is mind blowing and the free cam feature is an engineering marvel.

I was on st barts, zoomed to to space and then down on mount everest. All in less than 20 seconds. This is straight out of creative mode in minecraft. It's a new way to experience earth that's not possible in 2020.

I'm getting better with the A380, particularly the flex ratings for the engines. This colour-scheme, 2018 Year of Zayed (Etihad) is pretty stunning:

The development versions of the A380 are available too now. This thing is very polished even at this point.

Flying out of Dubai RWY30R with the ANVI7F departure is stunning, flying out over the coast and looping back, then heading inland and down towards Oman. Beautiful scenery.

I hope MSFS2024 is sorted out soon - I want to try this plane with the newer graphics engine. Some miracle is that it runs well on my 2019 Mac Pro with 28 Core Xeon and Radeon W6800X 32GB.

Has there been an update in the recent 2-3 week?

I will continue to play FS2020. It will probably be a few months before FS2024 is stable enough for the A380 to be made compatible.

The Concorde would be cool! Not ex - just enjoying my days off. But the pics remind me that I'll be back on the road Sunday night. On the flip side, the realism is pretty impressive. Right down to the crappy airplane coffee. ;)
