Every time I turn around, Microsoft is releasing another 'breakthrough' version of their operating system. The philosophy is embedded in renewed hope that one day, they won't release a POS. That said, I've noticed quite a few glitches in iOS lately. Hopefully, Apple isn't going down the same path.

So the Start menu's back again, there will still be multitasking, a whole extra place to search from, add desktops like almost all UNIX window managers from 2 decades ago, the app store will work not only in full screen mode but in a resizable window, plus windows can snap better... can't wait (yawn).

I don't get why there's a Mail app but also a Windows Mail program...

All these "modern apps" exist in windows so it's like having two of everything... I hope this is fixed with Windows 10.

It just occurred to me that the idea behind skipping to 10 is because they're copying Apple (who has been on version 10 for the past 14 years now).

Multiple desktops... like... the feature Mac OSX has had for years? And all of the great new improvements are just normal old features they brought back. Fullscreen apps open the same way desktop apps do? Woah. Revolutionary.

How do PC users not recognize how far ahead of windows OSX is?

Dude... Linux user is laughing... Linux has had multiple desktop for years... way before OS X...Apple open in full screen is not new as well... Windows has full screen application for years as well...

Move backwards (to "fix" last versions horrible implementations), don't really add anything interesting, copy some OS X feature or two (and usually cripple them horribly). Basically, classic Microsoft only taking sideways steps. That said, if it helps kill off old IE versions I'm pumped! :p

Start menu is back
I don't know WHAT IT IS but I was so disgusted regarding window 8 that I stop building gaming PC...NOW I LOOK AT WINDOW 10 AND I SEE WINDOW 8:(

Can't wait to use this, tomorrow. Very excited to try Windows 10, after wanting to like Windows 8, but having it let me down. I am a daily Windows 7, Ubuntu (and many other Linux'), Mac OS X, iOS and Android user. Taking sides is fruitless and childish - each platform has a strength over the other.

A very exciting time to be in digital technology :D

In case you missed Microsoft's presentation:

You kidding right ?

If you actually used both OS systems you would know that your comment way off the mark.

Both OS X and windows have their pros and cons.

Spaces was in many Linex OS BEFORE apple used it.

So no, they are not just copying Apple.

The point is, they're at least seven years (far more if we're using Linux as the measuring stick) behind the game with the best productivity feature ever. At work I just have to laugh while co-workers hunt around during meetings for a window they're "sure they have open somewhere... hang on..."

Do like the snap function to lay our multiple apps on one screen. I know this can be done through changing window size on Mac but to have a button or a Gesture to do that would be nice.

Other than that welcome to Mac OS leopard, windows. Redmond took a while to start their photocopiers

Apple's had multiple desktops (Spaces) back in Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard.

Welcome, Windows users, to 2007.

Yes, and Linux had it YEARS before Apple did. So what? As you're supposed to know, being on an Apple-centric site, being "FIRST!" is not important.

Virtual desktops, universal search, web results, pasting in terminal-type windows....

They should have just called this "Windows Me 2"! Because it copies off everyone else like OS X, Linux, Unix, etc.
