So many bitter, insecure people hovering about MR forums, waiting to pick up on whatever stupid irrelevancies they can (about ANY subject) to make a "point" and cause unrest.

Don't be idiotic, just talk like adults - I know that may be a challenge... BUT TRY IT.

I'm saying this as an Apple fan:

Arguments over "who did what first" and people getting all vehement about their OS preferences is always ridiculous to begin with.

But considering we're just like two weeks past a new iOS release where plenty of Android people are saying (as every year) "welcome to what we had two or three years ago" -- it seems so crazy and empty to see people making the same arguments for Apple. As if it mattered.

Microsoft is skipping windows 9, straight to windows 10. And then they're going back to windows 7 features cause no one liked windows 8. And they're stubborn in getting rid of their tiles screen.. So they shoved it in the start menu. And now they are implementing several desktops and exposé features from apple. True innovation there haha

I wonder what Apple is going to do about this push from Microsoft. They are increasing productivity 10-fold for users. Something Mac has been lacking for ages.

Is it any worse than copying android ;)

Windows 8 is fine , well 8.1 is.

You mean how Android rushes to appropriate any tech that Apple is rumored to do by they leakers. When Apple manages to keep a lid on what they are working on, they are all caught flat footed for years trying to catch up. Remember how Google's Android Chief said Digital Assistants was a bad idea and then when Siri was a hit, here comes Google Now. Even saying Google Now is a copy from the Mac. I have been able to control features on my mac since 2001 by saying "computer" followed by a command.

Virtual desktops, universal search, web results, pasting in terminal-type windows....

They should have just called this "Windows Me 2"! Because it copies off everyone else like OS X, Linux, Unix, etc.

Are you seriously suggesting a sequel to Windows ME? Because I'm pretty sure that's, like, treason, or something. Treason to humanity. ;)

I'm a dual Mac / Windows user. Always had Mac laptops since 2004, always had Windows desktops since the late 90's. I'm a Windows 8.1 user and I'm a Mavericks user.

In my opinion Windows 10 shows a definite shift in Microsofts approach to their user base. They tried to do something different with the "Modern" UI. It didn't pay off.

It had some great features like live tiles but it just wasn't usable on a desktop or laptop without touch. I've been using Windows 8 since it launched and I've only ever tested Modern apps. And by that I mean I tried a few, I didn't like them. A few months later maybe I tried a new one, never used it more than a few minutes.

On my day to day system where I get stuff done, be that software development, image editing, gaming, server administration.. whatever it is, I'm never using a Modern application. And that is because they aren't designed for a Desktop system.

Full screen doesn't work when you're sitting in front of a 27" 2560x1440 display or in my case three 30" 2560x1600 displays. It looks silly, just like when you run iPhone applications meant for the iPhone 5 on a 6 Plus. It looks stupid. The applications have to be optimised for the screen size they are running on.

And now it looks like Microsoft gets that. I'm looking forward to Windows 10 for a lot of reasons.

A start menu that isn't just a "We know you wanted it so we brought it back" but is actually an improvement over the one Windows 7 had. Live tiles are a great idea just not when they are full screen.

Drop shadows on windows, whoever thought it was a good idea to remove those in Windows 8 got it wrong. It sometimes is very difficult to tell at a glance which window is in focus because there is no drop shadows. This was not an issue in Windows 7 or OS X as they both had noticeable drop shadows.

And I also like the new Alt-Tab interface. This is a feature I use all the time in OS X but on there it's really the Expose feature that is now a part of Mission Control. I really like that presentation style of application windows and I'm glad Windows 10 is adopting it.

I'm sure a lot of people are going to rag on Microsoft for copying Apple or giving up on their vision, going backwards instead of forwards etc but as an actual user of their products and every OS since Windows 95 and also a very happy Apple user I think this is great stuff. I'm really excited for Windows 10 and that is the complete opposite to how I felt when Modern UI was unveiled with Windows 8.

Just my thoughts :)

Dude... Linux user is laughing... Linux has had multiple desktop for years... way before OS X...Apple open in full screen is not new as well... Windows has full screen application for years as well...

Multiple desktops were on X in the 80's and regularly used by the sysadmins deep in their underground caves even then.

Microsoft Surface owners beware! This preview scratches the Surface (of what they have planned). :D
No word yet on bending it ...

You break something in a version and then restoring to how it was in the next version, congratulations you just released a fabulous upgrade. "Apps that run in a window" look how innovative is that!

That's so untrue, its laughable.:D
Xerox tried to sue apple while Apple was trying to sue MS..

OSX hasn't changed forever, its still stuck in the XP like days and apple seem unwilling to try and move forward with a new GUI direction.

How nice of you to join us. Welcome! #

I feel like the apple talk mic let us use our voice since before 1995... on Mac OS 7

Or am I wrong?
