This ad just strikes me a weird. Not impressed. Microsoft can't even ridicule effectively, let alone make software

It shows how far we have come... there used to be a time apple used to make ads like this to show how cool apple was now Microsoft is doing it. So I am happy for that and good going apple. Keep on going and don't look back anymore...

Because not everyone wants one option, and Microsoft is helping show choice?

Or MS are trying to peg back the adoption rate of OSX computers over MS.

The reality is, a majority of people who use OSX prefer that over MS. Windows 8.1 is a dog to use.
History of windows (and yes, tried every one of 'em)
W2 pretty puppy
W3.0 - Puppies growing up but very awkward
W3.11 - Strong and fast.
W95 - nice looking dog but slowwwww
W98 - nice looking dog and very friendly
W Millenium - Dog with distemper
W XP - Great worker with a nice shiny coat. Shame about the viruses.
W Vista - Dog with lead feet and distemper
W7 - best of breed.
W8/8.1 - Dalmation. Pretty but confused about life.
W10 - Completely lost our design mojo so we'll put it to the vote. You'll get a hybrid that does everything but nothing well.

OSX - Only used it since Leopard, but gets better every time. Usually a falter or 2 when it gets released but you can always do a lot more with it. Once it reaches 1st fix, it hums. 5 year old iMac (2nd one) and is still running strong. I don't know how they could improve on Yosemite.

To reiterate, it's much more about the OS than whether it can bend into some origami crane

How can you say anything about 10 when it isn't close to done yet?

Interesting thing is that when folks try and compare the specs and merits we end up with the same other "dribble" namely:

".....it comes with Windows...fail....."
".....why are they comparing a hybrid/tablet with a laptop...."
"......it isn't about the specs, it's about the experience...."
"......why are they comparing a 4 year old product with something just released..."

1. Because the windows experience can't compete with OSX
2. Good question. Why? Why don't they compare a windows laptop with a Mac Laptop? Because there's no even comparison. Check the 'best of' lists...
3. That's what you say when you can't compete with the experience (but if it is about the specs, the Air still wins)
4. But it's okay for Samsung to say that about NFC?

But when it comes to windows people say
"Easily upgradable" (to make up for laggy software and sub par builds)
"Much cheaper to buy" (when you don't include AV, Office, Creative apps, repairs and quicker upgrades to a new machine because the old one doesn't work as fast)
"Much wider adoption" (because a lot of people can't afford a better experience).
"Great at math" (I'll agree with that one).

They want people to give feedback so that they can build it to what people want.

Yea.... Yea.
I for one very much like to see improved models, regardless of what platform they are on. Even if someone was inclined to only ever buy Apple products.. It's very hard to argue that some of recent choices Apple has made would have happened had they not had so much competition. Competition is good...

Sure the Yoga looks good but it still use Windows 8! It would be great if it came with Linux and tge display tablet part turns into an Andriod tablet. It might sell well if it was that case.

Besides what is going to happen when Microsoft 10 comes out? Will it be upgradable or do you have to buy a new one?

Current MBA 2012 user.. I would not mind this form factor for next MBA... why not?

In what world is listening to your customers a bad thing? Even Apple does it.

Microsoft is driving under the influence!

New promotion from Nokia:

Starting this Friday, if you purchase a Lumia 830 — our affordable flagship phone equipped with the latest version of Windows Phone 8.1 — through AT&T, you’ll get the Fitbit Flex activity tracker for free.

Nokia is now a Microsoft subsidiary. Microsoft, of course, being the company that released its very own fitness tracking wristband last week.

What a way to promote your latest product

I'm not an Apple fan, but I have been a professional user of their products since 1992. When they do something like this with what are now their portable laptops I will buy one. Until then my retina Macbook Pro will have to last awhile.....because it looks like they are listening to "fans" and dragging their rear ends on this genre of innovation.

Maybe MacShillers hands out a bucket of sand with each new memmbership...funny, I did not get mine....and can see clearly.

I don't remember that story well - what was the problem with Homer's car?

Tried to put too much in it. Be something for everyone. Basically too heavy, too many bits and pieces and bloated.

In what world is listening to your customers a bad thing? Even Apple does it.

There's a difference between listening and a world wide suggestion box. Or don't you think so? Apple have been accused for a long time of not listening. They have also been lauded for giving people want they didn't know they wanted. And succeeded time and again. Example: iPhone. We knew we wanted a smartphone, but they didn't go and ask everyone how to do it. They did it themselves and look what we have now, from iOS to Droid to Windows etc (and all of the phablets, tablets and bad experience hybrids).

Your opinion. Hundreds of millions disagree.

I suspect many of those hundreds of millions you mention haven't seriously tried OS X, but you may be right, they all may have tried it.

I saw the Lenovo commercial tonight. I thought it was done well.

Your opinion. Hundreds of millions disagree :(

You are showing your fanboy tendencies. What about the Yoga portion when a user uses the tablet function? Since Windows 10 looks like 7 what will the Current Yogas users be able to upgrade?

It will be touch. Like I said, Windows 10 isn't done yet. We haven't seen the touch changes yet.

Except they're just listening. They're still there ones making decisions.

They can hardly have given away their product, it's sold out for the time being.

If it can run Windows 8, it'll run Windows 10. There's no doubt about that.

Fanboy tendencies? hahaha

Windows (not OSX) is the OS designed for flexibility in hardware. It works on pretty much any hardware. Ever since Windows 7, the operating system pretty much just gets the drivers upon installation and everything works like a charm. The touch capability and driver already exists on the Yoga, so I would be surprised if there were anything more than minor inconveniences getting Windows 10 setup.

not because it's flying off the shelves. Not very good reviews

What?

The only reason something is sold out is if supply is less than demand. There's the possibility they only made a very limited supply and the demand isn't huge, sure. But the more likely assumption (and the assumption any Apple fan would make about a similar Apple situation) would be that demand was high and Microsoft couldn't keep up production to meet that demand.

It's like you guys are stuck in Steve Jobs' reality distortion field or something. Gosh.

What are u talking about?? I was all set to buy one of these bands, my biggest gripe is I still have to wear my phone while working out. Second is inaccurate readings while in motion.
