They forgot the last stanza:

"But it still runs ---- Windows"
"Oh, that really ---- blows"
"It's not hard at all to choose"
"Microsoft does not know"
"How to make an OS that I'd ever want to use"

The Surface Pro 4 should have Broadwell. I recommend waiting until that one if you are considering the Surface Pro to have a longer battery life and run cooler.

To me, the Surface Pro 3 is more attractive when compared with an iPad, not a MacBook Air.

Fundamentally, touchscreen laptops have never made sense to me. Keyboard/trackpad is a more efficient input method than a touchscreen when you are sitting down in "laptop" mode (not to mention no arm fatigue). Plus, I'd rather have a real laptop hinge than a "kickstand".

When comparing tablets however, the Surface Pro 3 seems comparable to an iPad in "tablet" mode (at least on paper) with the additional functionality to flex into a laptop-like device.

The compelling use case for the Surface Pro 3 is a business trip when I'd like to have a tablet while traveling and a laptop when I arrive at my destination (and the ability to plug in a 2nd monitor). I would have to take an iPad and a MacBook to accomplish that with Apple's lineup.

I know I don't want a Surface Pro 3, but I sure would be first in line to buy a Macbook Air with retina display and a touch screen. The days of using solely a Touch pad are surely just about over. Come on Apple, get with the program.

Somehow those adds always reminds me of this:

(FYI, WARNING profanity in clip - it is Eddie Murphy)

Can't really watch it at work. Does it show the Surface user trying to sit it in their lap and it falling to the ground?

Apple should make a Mac tablet with the new Intel chips Skylake to be released by 2015 as well as Cannonlake (2016) and future ones.

Great to see Microsoft as the little guy desperately trying to outdo the market leader. Who'd have thought the mighty could fall so far so fast?

Yes. A gigantic fall to the second largest market cap company in the world - now ahead of Exxon.

The surface is so bad.

Really funny how the whole ad is a lie.

The surface is much slower than the air.

Windows uses so much of the Surface's storage space...

Microsoft is on the way out it seems. Xbox 360, Windows 8, Xbox One, all trash.

Maybe Windows 10 will be good?

I know the OS is the key differentiator here, but it's hard to ignore the versatility of the Surface.

Prior superiority won't be enough to keep Apple on top forever. We need some new ideas.

I've never once wished my Macbook Air had a sh*ttier keyboard and the ability to use a stylus.

Someone, something needs to put pressure on Apple to make an all-in-one product with the features of the Surface Pro 3. I have been Apple since the PowerMac 6100 so I have been loyal because they have good ideas! And I've been waiting to buy a laptop with touchscreen abilities and have a tablet with the full operating system power of Yosemite. Both things that Apple are behind on and very disappointing. Apple needs to do more than just make money by making phones.

I'm sure if there was a money making opportunity in pushing out a convertible laptop/tablet Apple would develop one. But its a niche market. Apple has no problem selling Airs but MS does have issues unloading Surfaces. Even foisting them on the NFL hasn't raised the categories profile.

As I say every time these ads come on.. Microsoft your kick stands are terrible and mean I can't use it on my lap (or any none flat and largish surface as a matter of fact) . Clue is in the name. Till I can it is more overpowered ipad with a bad battery life than a laptop.

A definition of insanity is trying the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. This defines MS right now with their Surface ads. They keep trotting out the same "comparative" ads, but no one cares. IMHO the Air buyer and the Surface buyer are not the same person. MS is targeting the wrong group. (I'm not really sure what big consumer cluster would devour the Surface, but it's not the one that keeps buying Airs).

Maybe they like the results they are getting? :p

kickstand?

Everytime I use my Macbook I think 'wow, I really wish this thing had a kickstand'.

Seriously, if it was Surface v iPad then ok, it's just a stupid idea. But v. a MacBook? WTF?? :(

Surface Pro 3 is great, but the lack of good cooling, which causes throttling, really ruins it. Macbook air doesn't have this problem. Hopefully, the Surface Pro 4 fixes this issue with Broadwell. Then, it'll be a pretty interesting device - basically the specs of a retina macbook air that can also be a tablet.

They're touting the kickstand as a feature?

No - it's a solution to a problem they made themselves by making it top-heavy.

It's a feature because when you're not using the keyboard you can flip the kickstand out and not have to hold it unlike an iPad where you have to hold it or buy a case that has a kickstand. Let’s face it, if you prefer OSX you are not going to like the Surface regardless how good it is because you will never get over the operating system. I'm a Windows guy but I also have an iPad, the iPad is great for simple media consumption like web surfing, apps and what not. But when I need to get work done I grab the Surface because it's a full on computer which I can load any software on like Photoshop, Microsoft Office and so on. It is so thin and light that I can't even tell it's in my bag. I agree about the keyboard; it is too thin for my taste but I'm still able to be productive with it and honestly it should be included in the price. The battery life on it is great, the display is crisp and vibrant, touch screen is great, the digitizer pen is really good (very precise), the build quality is solid... for me it's just a great device all the way around. If you’re a Windows user then it will definitely be appealing but if you’re a OSX person then it's the worst thing you've ever seen... until Apple releases it then it's the greatest thing ever made.

You must have not seen the CNN staff using the Surface as a kickstand for the iPad then?

Yep. AND .... i ALSO don't care about a retina display. I love my 2011 hires macbook pro 15" with 16GB Ram and 1 TB SSD ... Srsly those "old" books are too good to be replaced with a EUR 3000 retina book that is only maybe 10% faster, while the "plus" factor from a retina display is evened out because it is glossy ...

Not to mention, no 17 inch MBP any more!
